Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's the thread!

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Congratulations to everyone who made Part 4 such a kickass thread!!!

And thank you to the ever generous, intelligent, lovely, and kind Nichole, who let me start the thread even though she won the last one. 🙂

I use my debit card all the time. I don't believe in debt (aka credit cards) unless I absolutely HAVE to use it. It was hard enough for me to agree to my husband taking out a $6000 loan for a motorcycle.

I have "CHECK ID" written on the back of my card, not my signature. More and more, retailers are asking for my ID, too. I typically don't do that much shopping, except groceries, gas, and home-improvement stuff. This lets me use the PIN option anyway.

I'm still going to use my debit card (I rarely use my credit card) - we just don't keep a lot in our account. Most of what's left over at the end of the month ends up in savings.

That's how I use it, anyway.

That's a good philosophy. I keep my credit card around for gas because it's easier to pay at the pump that way and I get cash back. I used it for my tuition this semester because I get 5% cash back when I do that. Easy 5% off my tuition bill.

yep. that is what I plan on doing the next 6 years. Payign tuition with a credit card :meanie: RACK UP THOSE POINTS BABY! I think we have to get a flight card or something like that to use to fly out ot my parents or a vacation or something.

Ewwww

I just heard that for residency applications (ERAS)

If you are applying to DO schools its $60 for the first 10, then if you are also doing the MD match its ANOTHER $60 for the first 10. What a ripoff 👎

We've been able to get 2 round trip plane tickets (domestic flight) and pay for hotel rooms with our credt card and we continue to rack up the points......guess that shows you how much we spend 🙁 ....thankgoodness we try our hardest to pay off our balance in full as much as we can.

We've been wanting to get those airline cards but you're stuck with one airline, though.

I would do that if i had a loan check to pay off my credit card. I'm a debt-nazi, so I avoid credit cards like the plague.

I've run into a few situations where the CID was a problem - I explained about 2 stolen purses in 3 months and showed my DL and all was fine. I use www.usps.com for online postage so I've never had issues with the post office.

I'm stubborn - I'll probably continue to do it that way because it's worked for a long time for me.

I also check my credit report every 6 months. And I own a shredder. Not the one on SDN though!

For those applying through ERAS next year: Just give me $50 and I'll give you a swift kick in the @ss. Saves you time AND $$$$$

I don't think that's bad at all considering how much money that has to be spent to take the MCAT, apply for primaries, secondaries, interview transportation, step exams, etc...

There are cards that let you exchange rewards into airmiles but I'm not sure how it works. I know capital one and citicard allow this.

Actually its BS.

Ok that $60 is just for your FIRST 10 program

Here's the fee structure:
Number of Programs Per Specialty AAMC Fees
Up to 10 $60
11-20 $8 each
21-30 $15 each
31 or more $25 each

Ok for osteopathic students they have to pay $120 just to enter both their matches and these fees HAVEN'T decreased since they went to an automatic online program. Think of all the money they RAPE from you 😡

Most study apply to at least 20-30 programs, usually quite a few more depending on your specialty.

My point is its unfair to have DO students who are participating in BOTH matches to have to pay the separate $60 for DO and MD. Especially because they have to pull out of one or the other and can't do both.

Can MD students apply to DO programs? Would that cost them $60, too?

MD students can't apply to DO programs.

They are trying to integrate the match completely but there are ... shall we say, "road bumps"

Its just ****ty that DO students have to shell out so much more money over this whole process. They have to take two exams (at even $1000 a pop), some have to do two matches, just something that pissed me off.

Hard to explain. Log in and see. It's got these notes and also this thing which chronicles EVERYTHING you do on facebook. It's kinda scary and stalkerish. :scared: But the cool thing is that I just linked my blog to my facebook which is kinda nice.
oooh must check it out. I wish my laptop wasn't broken. 🙁 I'd take it with me to class!

Adios until later ...

Sorry, no Facebook account for me. 🙂 No myspace either. No MDapps either. I'm just too lazy to make any, but I also like to keep private. 🙂
No worries - I was thinking about cancelling my myspace account since most people I know use facebook more regularly but I guess it doesn't hurt to keep both.

It's their (AOA) own fault. The separate but equal BS that they are trying to keep up.

I think it's unfair that DO can apply to MD, but not vice versa.
