A few ground rules. Everything you post must be RANDOM and more importantly, only peripherally related to the MCAT. See my example post below. I now await Beary's shirtless pic of Carl Edwards. C'mon Beary, A-man is dying to see it. 😀

This is Ana's example:

My, factually, better examples 😀 :

There aren't any available testing dates in October. 😡

I'm on autopsy in November so can't take it then. 😡

So I'm taking it December 6 + 7. A ways off. Maybe it's for the best.

*stops studying*
wow you wanted to take it this month? why hadnt you scheduled it earlier then beary?

I just got the scheduling permit in the mail this week!! You only get a 3 month scheduling permit window thingie and they send it right at the beginning of it. Totally lame. 😡

thats exactly how it is for step 1 too but they sent me the permit for that one in january for a window that started in may. sucks they arent as efficient for step 3.

Yeah it's run by people who still use 1970s technology. It's called the USMLE but is actually run by the "Federation of State Medical Boards." And you can't sign up on the internet, you have to call ON THE PHONE.

oh god, so it gets worst?

step 1 at least has online registration but this explains the mailing of results crap with no online or phone reporting of scores.

beary!! today we had the most amazing prof--a hematologist--and she told us that this pathway is something we are going to have to keep relearning until after step 3--lol

It's true. Believe me. I have had that thing down COLD before, and now I'm like Factor VII?? Huh? Which one? Extrinsic? Intrinsic? WTF?

beary should i tutor the sophomores on the gross anatomy of the extremities? not exactly my favorite stuff but they sent out the email today asking for 3rd and 4th year tutors and if i do it supposedly i can use it on ERAS as "work experience" even though its non-paid teaching. what do you think?

I would only do it if you wanted to (enjoyed teaching and wanted to refresh yourself on that stuff). I don't think ECs/work experience really matter at all for residency apps.

PS - It's BS that they don't pay you. I tutored when I was in med school but got paid $13/hr.

this is actually for the academic societies tutoring program so it is unpaid, its totally volunteer through the school.

i think i may do it just to refresh myself too, i have surgery in 4 months so it might do me some good to review the anatomy before then.
