Wouldn't an acid wash just make the clothes dissolve away? 😉 I have a nice hole in the front of my dedicated lab sweatshirt from a previous acid incident.

Maybe I need to start being more careful ......

BTW - I'm glad you are okay after your NaOH incident Dr. D. I keep hoping that no one in my lab will need to use the eyewash station or the big giant shower in the corner of the room.

in high school, we were doing unknowns and I hadn't figured out what mine was yet. I was talking to someone, and I use my hands a lot to talk, so whatever I had mixed in the test tube went flying all down the back of my uniform. my teacher asked me what chemicals were in there and all I could say was "I don't KNOW!!!!!!!!" :laugh:

Luckily it wasn't a big disaster. Though I also could have kicked over a nearby jug of crystal violet and made my jeans even more of a conversation piece.

I'll take your words for it. Given my history (and noting my user title here), I generally try to stay away from strong chemicals and/or anything that's going to permanently alter the color of my skin or clothing.

I TOTALLY hear ya. I absolutely will not check my work email after I come home for the day. There is practically guaranteed to be something in there that will piss me off.

I was hoping for a message from one of my coworkers who I'm friendly with.

What I got was a bunch of administrative crap mixed in with arguments over who has to work which holidays next year. 😡

I'm sorry jlw. 🙁

We don't get our call schedules until right before the start of the month. I just got my call schedule for November. I have Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Friday off!! Am on call the Sat. and Sun., but should be able to go home Weds. night and come back Fri. night.

But I still don't know about Christmas. 🙁

I said a prayer of thanks because I only have 4 call days all month. 🙂

well good. b/c for this year, everyone refused to sign up for Thanksgiving weekend- Fri, Sat, and half of Sun were uncovered. so even though I'm going to be out of town, I signed up for 4-midnight on Sat. so I'll cut my trip short, and probably drive straight from Mom's to the hospital.

one of the people who's staying in town said "What??? I signed up to work that weekend!!!!!!" she sure did. a four-hour shift on Sunday. 😡 aargh.

You think we might be able to get together on Thursday or Friday? I think it is just going to be me and my folks, so nothing big. We will have a meal sometime on Thursday, and then Friday my dad and I watch the Husker game (this is a many year tradition). That's it. I can drive back late Friday night too and just pray for no autopsies on Saturday. 😉

I wonder if there are a lot of deaths around Thanksgiving. I know nobody ever wants New Years or the Fourth of July for autopsy call. I think I asked for New Years this year hoping to get Thanksgiving and Christmas off. *fingers crossed*

I have about 10 things I want to tell ask my doctor about but I feel bad unloading all of those things at once without them thinking I'm a hypochondriac.

They won't think you're a hypochondriac. But it is probably best to limit it to the 2 or 3 things you want to deal with the most urgently (unless there is a chance all the other symptoms are related, in which case obviously you should mention them). I think that way the doc is more likely to be able to focus and dx/treat the things you bring up.

I'm sure we can find a time to hook up. I think I'm going to compensate for the early departure by coming home on Tues afternoon/eve instead of Wed. That way I can work at hospital #1 on Tues as normal, and leave from there. I believe that the only set plans would be Thanksgiving dinner at the bro's house Thurs evening.

I stopped drinking a few hours ago so I could go to Kroger and get water (and because it was making me feel down for some strange reason). Now I am all sober but am too tired to go shopping. *sigh*

I don't get off until 5 on Weds. 🙁 And that's assuming we don't have an autopsy that day. (We take autopsies until 1, after that they get done the next day. But they can take a while to do). Also I have to cover placentas until 5. 🙄

Seriously, Michigan must be the only place where the autopsy residents do placentas. That's the Michigan difference for ya.

Percocet helps me a ton. It's the best oral narcotic IMHO. I'm skeptical of this darvocet stuff.

I don't really know why, lol. :laugh: I will try it tomorrow and report back my findings. 😉

I've got lots of protein and blood in my pee. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. (It's from the endocarditis. Emboli and immune-complex crap).

I really did not know until now that endocarditis can cause glomerulonephritis. Perhaps this will be on Step 3. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Too late to resume drinking... I go on page at 8 am. Maybe I will go to Kroger now. And THEN go to bed. Really.
