A few ground rules. Everything you post must be RANDOM and more importantly, only peripherally related to the MCAT. See my example post below. I now await Beary's shirtless pic of Carl Edwards. C'mon Beary, A-man is dying to see it. 😀

This is Ana's example:

Oh wow, maybe I shouldn't have written an essay from 1-2AM, lol! I just re-read the essay topic and my essay (for UF) is roughly 10% on topic. Oh well, at least I think it's well written. That's their own fault for providing a crap topic.

For real though 😴

Night Beary!

Mornin' folks!! 😴

This morning at surg path conference I am presenting a clear cell carcinoma of the ovary, an eosinophilic granuloma from a clavicle, a seminoma, a schwannoma, and a chondroblastoma.

We have clin path conference at 8 and I am not sure if I am presenting at that or not. I was supposed to go last week but was going to the park with PW. 😉 Anyway, I had a talk all ready to go so it's no big deal if I am going.

Well have a great day y'all!

Does the clear cell CA originate from the ovary?? 😕 Or is it metastatic renal CA???

Morning kids. Off to shadow a FP for the day then home to sleep. 7 hrs isn't enough to have my immune system recoup.

Megboo ............... I'm with you with the decline in the IS. 🙁 Stupid colds. I am just reviewing the Kaplan books that were donated to me 😍 to oxeye! mainly the PS and BA stuff. I'm hoping to do PS in the next 2 weeks and then BS, and keep reviewing that stuff for the next few weeks. Then January starts EK!

I wish we had practice tests though ...

Ok I know I hate to bring politics into this thread but:

Daily Health Policy Report
Election 2006 | 60% of U.S. Adults Believe Congress Would Address Issue of the Uninsured in Event Democrats Take Control, Poll Finds
[Oct 26, 2006]

Sixty percent of U.S. adults believe Democrats would work to provide health insurance to the uninsured if they take control of Congress after the midterm elections, according to a USA Today/Gallup poll released Thursday, USA Today reports. For the poll, 1,002 adults from Friday through Sunday were surveyed about their expectations regarding a takeover of Congress by Democrats. According to the poll, 52% of respondents believe Democrats would allow the purchase of prescription medications from abroad and 72% would approve of such a move. In addition, 79% of respondents would approve of efforts to expand health insurance to the uninsured. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who likely would become the first female House speaker if Democrats take control of the chamber, said she would work to lift a ban on federal negotiations with pharmaceutical companies for lower drug prices for Medicare beneficiaries. "Most Americans predict Democrats will win control of the House of Representatives in the elections Nov. 7," according to USA Today. However, some analysts say that if Democrats win the majority in Congress, "leaders would need to take care not to overreach," USA Today reports (Page, USA Today, 10/26).

Online The survey is available online.

CongressDaily Series
In related news, CongressDaily on Thursday featured the eighth installment in a series examining potential issues Democrats would address if they take control of Congress after the November elections. According to CongressDaily, Democrats' "first priority ... in their effort" to reduce the number of uninsured residents would be to address funding shortfalls in SCHIP, which is slated for reauthorization next year. Democrats "hope to expand eligibility and increase the number of low- and moderate-income children enrolled in the program," CongressDaily reports. In addition, Democrats will look to "correct what [they] consider flaws" in the Medicare prescription drug benefit, according to CongressDaily. Democrats also will look to confirm a permanent FDA commissioner and increase oversight of the agency. Other issues a Democratic Congress would address include stem cell research and health care information technology legislation that would authorize greater federal funding to help physicians and hospitals purchase new technology and would mandate privacy protections, CongressDaily reports (Lee, CongressDaily, 10/25).

I'm sorry I don't really think that having a Dem majority is REALLY going to help this effort and it disheartens me that Americans really are that naive to believe it as well. 🙁 There are alot of things that need to be addressed before something MAJOR happens as an overhaul to our health care system. Just changing a few seats isn't going to help ... especially in the House because alls they do is campaign for the length of their term. 🙄 😎 😡

Sorry. I hate politics. Especially this time of the year when the media and other organizations obviously (LIKE KAISER) start this media BS.

Amen!! I HATE this time of year because I can't listen to the radio or watch tv without hearing or seeing some damn candidate bash another one. That's all the campaign ads are anymore, who can bash the opponent worse.

Why don't these politicians focus on positives? Why can't we make a law against this bashing? I think it lowers societies moral when all we hear about is how ****ty, deceiving, and fraudulent EVERY candidate is. 😡

So do you realize that we are like less then 500 posts til this thread closes???? 😛 😀

So not commenting on the politics cuz I stay out of that stuff. But what else is new with all the randommes and randudes here???

Ditto that. Being in IL, I'm also tired of the Barack for president bandwagon. The guy has only spent a few years in the senate, before that - nothing! Gee, maybe if I can sit on a fence on issues and not have a clue like him, maybe I could be elected president. Some people don't like Bush, but at least he has the cajones to take a stance on issues.

Grrr....... I hate election years. You're right Fe..... It's hard to pick out who stands for what because of all the mudslinging. 40 years ago, the parties may have disagreed, but at least campaign speeches were about what each had on the agenda. Now everything is "don't vote for that guy/gal because........." NOT "vote for me because....."

The media will put info out about the candidates - the candidates need to worry about getting their issues out in the open.

/rant

Sorry - it was all pent up!

Another day at the office for me 😴

But on a positive note, I might be flying to Cleveland Clinic to watch one of our LVADs get implanted!!! 😀 *crosses fingers and toes*

Yeah, it's like a chain reaction. Once one does it, the other feels the need to dig up dirt on the other and it ends up making the whole thing just look awful. It makes me not want to vote for anyone!

Slept late woke up early 😡

Need some coffee bad! *goes to make a pot*

Does the clear cell CA originate from the ovary?? 😕 Or is it metastatic renal CA???

Originates from the ovary. It's associated with endometriosis. To me it looks a lot like a dysgerminoma. But that's why I'm just a HO-1. 😳

Tumor most likely to cause paraendocrine hypercalcemia. (Throw that out sometime on gyn onc or something. 😀 )

Morning kids. Off to shadow a FP for the day then home to sleep. 7 hrs isn't enough to have my immune system recoup.

Hope you feel better mushy!

Agree that sleep is so impt. I am trying to decide if this weekend I should just physically rest in preparation for autopsy or work on getting back in shape. (Literally I think I am deconditioned from lying around so much).

Yes it is ..... i think I'll go make some!!!!

Beary and other med students/docs - I've been eating/drinking more Soy lately - good or bad?

 I have ABSOLUTELY no idea. Supposedly it is good for you.

However it is totally disgusting in my opinion. 😳

I really want burger king for breakfast. One of my resident colleagues is sitting next to me eating fried chicken. It smells like bacon.

VERY cool. Never seen one of those in real life!!

I have only seen it on video, but it looks amazing. They literally take a cylinder with a sharpened edge, screw it into bottom of the left ventricle, and pop a piece out like a cork! (to make a hole for the cannula)

I just finished my last ever poetry paper! :hardy:

Now on to that problem set also due tomorrow....

Good night to all you quitters! 😴

 on being done with poetry

"quitters" he says, as if he doesn't even want the dark chocolate chip cookies I'm planning on baking this weekend...

Damn. Turns out the Kaplan course I was supposed to teach may not make which means if I'm not taking courses I have no excuse not to do that intensive Spanish course. Oh well. So much for my lazy semester with no school.
