how's your studying going guys? are you freaking out? burned out?

this is our stress relief thread....or our group anxiety thread, whatever..... 😀

for those of you that have no idea what the mcat random threads are about, check out molly's explanation:

MollyMalone said:
It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO POST HERE, you're welcome to jump in at anytime. Here's the final tally from part 7:

thanks for the congrats, everyone! this means I get to join Mush in the "4.0 for the Semester Club" 😀 :hardy:

JLW: Are you ignoring me on AIM? Punk 😛

NO! I was away from the computer...... sowwy 😳

remind me of that when I'm failing the class because I decided to take the class that has multivariable calc as a prereq instead of the easy no calculus class (this calc class is offered at a better time for me!!!)

I haven't used calculus, let alone multivariable for YEARS!!!

I'm with you on this. The last time I took calc (and that was calc I) was spring semester 1993. And I got a C b/c I didn't care as that was the semester I switched out of pre-med and so of COURSE I'd never need that grade. 🙄 So when given the chance to take calc-based or non-calc-based physics...... I didn't even think twice. It was bad enough trying to remember some of the algebra (which, for the record, I last took in HS in 1991). Calc wasn't going to happen. It's the only class I refused to retake.

Just found out I get to join too. My GPA virginity survived British poetry and Victorian chick lit!

Where's our playlist though? We both seem to have dropped the ball in Part 8.

Fuzzy math as in forgetting the m in N*m? :meanie:

  But congrats science rawkstar!

it may have been "fuzzy navel" math for all I care. but it got me an A. :meanie:

And DJ Penguin, I think it's time to bust out the turntables and stereos for oxeye.
oooooh, you're right! go for it, DJ Nelly! I'll follow your lead

LOL jlw - the only reason I'm ven attempting the course that uses calc is because I really did like calc way back when while I was learning it. Hopefully it will come back to me in the context of physics.

If not - I can switch to the lower level course after the first week if I'm in way over my head.

I agree...Ana, this seriously has nothing to do with anything but (public speaking frankly)...I bet you that has something BIG to do with it...somehow. 😉 But, don't doubt yourself. Seriously, you are going to do great. Kaplan is not med school.
Public Speaking... what are you talking about? I'm FAN-tastic at public speaking except for that whole, you know, speaking thing.

listen dr.texas, you are going to be a great doc. med school is NOT hard, its just really time consuming and really fast paced. i swear, that sounds so crazy but its true. this fall you will be doing what you've wanted to do your entire life, learning just about the human body and medicine. keep looking forward to this fall, all this means is that now you have more time on your hands to drink beer and lasso steers or whatever the hell else you do in texas. 😉 😎

Horray Beer! 🙂 That's what I'm doing RIGHT NOW.

Twin, **** Kaplan.

That is all.

 Thanks...

Guess I'll forgive you. This time 😀

what is block schedule?

well at the med school where i'm going they have a block schedule--in the 1st year you only take one main class at a time. Block I (in the fall) is biochem, Block II (in the winter) is gross anatomy, and Block III (starts after spring break) is neuro. One of my friends goes to a med school where they have a more traditional curriculum and she is taking a bunch of stuff at once.

in my phys clas, she'd go through the derivations for us but wouldn't make us do them... I'm sitting there going "derivations.. hmm... that sounds vaguely familiar. limit? wtf? omgwtfbbq?"

jlw that's how my physics I class was--we had this crazy old prof that would do derivations the whole time (that we never needed to understand) and would throw in a few wacky experiments. My physics II class was in the evening--from like 7-9. it was a killer. and our prof was Dr. Evil.

Ahhh, yeah no mine doesn't have a block schedule though that sounds pretty cool!!

Looking at the calendar for the first month at my school, we'll be doing biochem, gross anatomy, cell biology, human behavior, embryology, and histology all at once - plus clinical problem solving (group stuff) and our preceptorships.

They front-load us first year - it eases off as you progess in the semester and second year is less intense.

Way to go JLW!

PW - I know you don't listen to the pre-allo dorks 😛 You go too, girl!

And good job oxeye on busting through the 5K. Maybe I'll get there before school starts again 🙂

I can't sleep tonight so I've been browsing real estate on ebay. I have no idea why!

Hey, fuzzy and touchy-feely English was stepping out of this enginerd's comfort zone.

*nurses his sore wrists and bruised ego*

speaking of 2nd look, I spoke with my coworker about the Box 'o' Hats, and he said they've been sitting there for waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long, and that they are not specifically designated for any child. therefore, I'm officially allowed to take whichever ones I want and give them away to whomever I think deserves them.

*eyes a certain pink hat and giggles*
