Wow, guys, I'm getting dangerously close to 1000. I expect to become a kiloposter by midnight!:hardy:

Yup, that's it - from now on, I'm measuring my posting productivity in kiloposts.:meanie:

Just don't get on the scale if you are relatively new to workouts. You're gonna be gaining lots of muscle. At a certain point, I found myself 20 lbs heavier, but still the same size, because I had been lifting weights so much and loading up on protein. People FLIP when I tell them how much I weigh - they always underestimate me by 25-30 lbs. At this point, my muscle gain has stabilized enough for me to be able to refer to the scale again, but that's only because I started eating less protein and more carbs and because I've cut down on my weight workouts - I'm just maintaining the muscle mass now. If you're just starting, the scale can be a source of frustration.

I used to be EXTREMELY athletic. Working out is not new. This is how it always works ..throughout my life. GEEZ. Not new, but still annoying.

jochi, I must say that you have some impressive post-whoring skills. 😉

Certainly better than some we have seen over time. You know, those that use 10 posts to post 10 related sentence fragments that should have been group into one? jochi's posts are complete. That is good.

OMIGODDD, I was browsing through my online photo album in search of SDN-appropriate ab photos (for whatever reason, I always seem to take those shots while wearing ratty underwear ), and look what I found:

I totally needed to read this today. I've been exercising regularly for 4 weeks now, being really really good about what I eat and the *@&#^@^@ scale doesn't seem to care. It's getting so frustrating. 🙁 I *think* I'm looking better. It makes me want to try dieting without exercising to see if I lose anything that way. But I know exercising is a good thing.

I hate trying to lose weight. 🙁 🙁 🙁

jochi, you have some pretty good postwhoring skills.
you'll surpass me in a month

This sounds like me Meg. Ugh. Problem is, I HAVE been working out and it has done nothing but negative things to me. I HATE THE SCALE. It is a joke now. WTF?? Are my clothes fitting better? 75% of the time, yes. The other 25...WTF? AGGH!

Ummm..... 75% percent of the time you don't have your period? LOL! That would be my excuse anyway!

I don't know if this works for you or not, but my body really responds well when I cut out refined carbs. I can eat all the non-starchy veggies I want and high-fiber fruits + lean meats and dairy and as long as I'm exercising, it's all good.

But, the moment I put any "white" carb into my mouth I instantly gain 10 pounds. Including EtOH.

So for me, starting tomorrow, I'm not going to follow a specific diet per se, but just follow what I know my body responds to. Plus, I have to make sure my cardio to strength-training time is 2:1 or 3:1.

That means even giving up the EtOH for OPM, sorry gals!

Me too. I was even an all-state athlete in HS. Now I'm a blob (but a cute one LOL)!

Eh - I'm confident that I'll get back to a healthy weight. It's going to take time, but now that the pre-reqs and MCAT are over (well MCAT for now), I've got lots of time on my hands that I didn't before. And I need to use that power for good rather than evil muah haha haha!

Wow, kids.....there are no words to describe the horror that I suffered over the preceding 5 hours.

The library's closed for today, so I won't be doing much work until tomorrow now - just some minor reference searching online.

I don't quite understand why it's required that I waste several days of my life doing things like listing (and meticulously referencing) the melting point and formula of water OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again, but whatever.👎

I PMed you some hideous pictures of me, which nonetheless show the bis/tris/abs/whatever. Hopefully you'll see why I'm not posting them in the thread, haha.

Remember the blob? (xmen character?)

I don't drink anyway. 🙂
I also rarely drink, and never more than 1 drink in a sitting.

I love getting animals drunk, though. My old roommate had a rat and we got it drunk one night by accident - we had spilled some booze on the floor and she licked it all up before we realized it. She was zig-zagging around the apartment and dropping flat on her belly every other step.

I'd love to get my cats drunk, but I hear booze is really bad for them. WAH! Animals are for entertainment!

Steaks for Dad's birthday. Yummy. I love it when mom comes to visit..especially for one day! LOL. She's leaving in the AM, but helped me clean and go to the store (and paid.. heck yes) 🙂🙂🙂

God, how pathetic is this. I just called in to order at this fairly popular Japanese restaurant, and when I told her what I wanted, she was like "Is this Jochi?"

A hint that maybe I eat there way too often.:scared::laugh:

Jochi, you're gonna hit 1k tonight too! We're 1King on the same day!! 👍

It was a bummer because we ordered a pizza and now it's gonna be late!

My last bad-for-you meal for a while.....

Sad. Pizza's the best. My every-friday-night junk food. Except for this weekend, since Mama cooked today. It'll be tomorrow that the pizza comes. Oh, if I could only keep this metabolism forever... I know my time is limited.:laugh:

My advice - become addicted to Vietnamese or Japanese food. Still take-out, but tons of healthy options that still taste good.

I ordered soft shell crab maki and tuna and salmon sashimi tonight. :hardy: I order the sashimi 4 out of 5 times, but this is my 1st time trying the crab maki.
