Yeah, I'm waiting for 27 more. LOL.🙄 My Canadian ones are all done except for Alberta - gotta respond to a few more short essay questions there. I forget, are you an MS/MPH student?

Eeeesh. Can't say I envy you.

Yup, I'm a master's student in epi, soon to be a PhD student. Why I don't get a real job instead....one will never know 😛

Welll, I've made the travel to my hometown.. about 45 mins from the testing center. Headed to Mobile tomorrow afternoon to the hotel room (so that i'll be close Thurs morning) and, of course, to stop by South and drool... I really hope I can get in there!!

Nerves are okay, about as worried/more worried about grandfather than the test. His biopsies didn't come back today, so they may tomorrow.. and he's scheduled for a urostomy Thursday about 2 1/2 hours after my mcat begins. They've got to reroute that blocked ureter until they can do surgery... 🙁

Keeping my head in the game and staying busy. It's my last night to really review.

Sorry to hear about your grandpa. Hopefully he's goign to be okay. When I was taking the MCAT, my grandma discovered a lump that turned out to be breast cancer. It isn't easy to focus on the test, but it can be done. When are you taking it?

I hope your father does better. We'll be praying for him. I didn't know you were close to Mobile, Alabama. My good friend lives in Pensacola so she's not that far from Mobile either. Been in between Mobile and Pensacola quite a bit many times.

Additionally, I've met med students from there 4 years ago. They graduated this year. Anyhow, they were just a few months into it when I met them at a conference near MUSC but they loved it there when they started there.

Ugh...I've got an ear infection, my left one hurts and I can't hear anything in it....blah. I've got some eardrops, and then I have a follow-up appt with my doctor on Friday, so if it doesn't go away by then, I'll ask her for something else.

thanks for the prayers and well wishes guys. my test is at eight in the morning.. I made it to mobile to the hotel and am settled in with "the memory keeper's daughter". keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow! grandfathers surgery starts at ten thirty

Just noticed I had the 666th post in this thread.:meanie:

Got the BU secondary this evening (like 8 PM their time...weird 😕). It'd be a quick secondary, but there are TWO optional essays that give me an opportunity to sell myself, which I really need to take advantage of given my lackluster GPA. But it's so tempting to skip on the 3 hours of essay-writing torture and just hit "submit"!🙄

OPTIONAL= "if you don't want to write these, that's ok. We'll take your money anyway and promptly put your app in the paper shredder"

Congrats on being done!

I have a few friends writing today, so last night I had a dream that was I writing, too.....I had registered for another MCAT thinking that I could outdo my 32 T, but then ended up not studying at ALL, and so I was sitting there waiting for the test to start and freaking out about scoring LOWER....lol.:hardy:

OMG, I was just at the pet store and a girl with progeria was working the cash register. Isn't there like only 20 kids with this disease in North America? I had no idea we had someone here like that in our town. I've only seen these kids on TV or in the paper before!

Oh wow, I just Googled some stuff, and apparently the Progeria Foundation is based in one of the suburbs here. I guess that'd explain it, maybe they are having a fundraiser or something and brought her in.

thanks for the well wishes beary. that's pretty neat abt the progeria. in other news, grandfather came out of surgery and they got the urostomy done. he was actually able to go home abt an hour ago. however, the mass - stretchin from his sacrum to the ureter- biopsies are inconclusive. his oncologist appt is monday and at this time they will make a decision as to which route to take next... probably radiation.

I'm absolutely exhausted.. suppose the stress/relief of the test being over and the stress of grandfather's surgery finally got to me.

Tomorrow, I am scheduled for a 55 minute massage. And I absolutely cannot wait.

G'night guys!

awesome way to spend the day off

hope your grandfather has a speedy recovery 🙂

a late night phone call roused me from my slumber and now I'm wide awake. sigh. last night, I'd have been using thi time to study. still can't believe its over.
Haha, yeah, I felt such a void in my life when the MCAT was over...:hardy: Which was quickly filled with some organic chemistry.😴

Glad to hear you survived it. Enjoy that massage, you deserve it!!

So I registered in the rest of my courses for the fall the other day, and because I'm partially funded by loans which aren't disbursed until AFTER the end of registration/tuition payment period, I had to send in this loan study plan with a list of courses to take. So they can hold my seat, but will give it to someone else if I don't send them $ from loans by a certain later date. So you know, I go and register in 5 courses (15 credits). Then I get this HYSTERICAL phone call from my financial advisor: "Do you understand how many courses you are registered in!? We don't ever recommend that our students sign up for more than 3 courses! (9 credits)" I'm like, "Uh, why? I mean, 15 credits is the standard full-time courseload." She's like, "No, it's not! You will fall behind!" I'm like, "Uh, I already have a degree, I've always taken at LEAST 12 credits, and most of my semesters were 16 - with 15-20 hours of work and volunteering on top of it. And this time I'm not even working!" She's like, "Well, we tell students to expect spending 15-20 hours a week on ONE 3-credit course, so if you take 5, expect to study for 75-100 hours a week!" I was like, um, that's kinda random, cuz I finished my orgo class in one THIRD of the recommended time by studying for 15-20 hours a week...and I'm now finishing physics in 1/3 the time by studying about 10-15 hours a week. So basically, a full courseload will probably take me 30-50 hours, which is totally normal.😕

Whatever.😴

haha sounds like my premed advisor jochi. however, he might be on my side after yesterday. lol.
the massage/mani/pedi was fab. reading another fun book. when I get back to my parents tom, it'll be tine to start reading/outlining for class a week from monday!

Speaking of reading fun books, 2 Mormon missionaries just came by my door...:hardy: I was waiting for this to happen - I'd say Mormons are the religious majority in this community, and I've been living here for over a year and had never had them come by...so they gave me The Book of Mormon, which I took, just to be polite, and also because I've been thinking recently that I should take the time to find out more about Mormons, their faith, and lifestyle - I'm not religious at all, and I'm definitely not interested in becoming part of their faith, but there's a ton of them around here, and knowing more about them would probably be a good thing. I had actually been thinking about going to one of their services, since the LDS church here is open to everyone, and I guess it'd be a good idea to go ahead and read the book first. My only gripe is that they decided to come back and "check on me" in a few days to see how I'm "progressing" with the book...lol.🙄 I explained that I'm kinda busy now, but that didn't help. Although I must say, one of them was pretty hot, so I wouldn't entirely mind joining their "Family....":hardy::laugh:

uh oh! that's exciting. headed back to school on monday here... I'm enjoying the break tho.
Wow, that's an early start! I'm not starting the new semester till the 1st, but I will probably not be back from my trip to MN until like September 5th at the earliest. I'll try and get started on at least one course before that, though.
