ok, so i'm still in ugrad right now, but this past summer i was working in an OR and i got to scrub in on a bunch of procedures (ran camera's for lap choles, roux en y's, retract for tvh's, etc.) well, i helped out with some back/ortho (total knee, total hip, decompression and fusion) surgeries, where i pretty much stood across from the surgeon w/ the patient in between us and i was basically his second set of hands...

well, i'm workin on my resume right now and i'm trying to describe what the h*ll i was doin in as few a words as possible, is there a term for what i was doing...first assistant maybe or somethign? i don't know, just wondering if u guys have any idea. thanks

I would describe it as either a surgery externship or shadowing experience. That's how I described it, and I did something very similar to what you did. By the way, hope you had fun...you won't get to do that much in the OR again until you're a third year surgery resident.
