So I transferred two times during my undergrad and I was a part time student for two semesters..Therefore, with the credits transfers and being a part time student...I was a freshmen my 2nd year of college...i know pretty lame

I mostly viewed myself as a freshmen my 2nd year of college and a sophomore my 3rd year of college, and I always called myself a freshmen and sophomore during those years. But now that im a junior (4th year) I was wondering if this is going to look bad that im going to be graduating in 5 years? Am I viewed as the typical slack off 5th year senior or will medical schools be understanding since I transferred and what not? Also, does being a 5th year senior look that bad?

I know its a pretty random question but i need advice please on how to fix the damage. I feel bad taking 8-14 credits a semesters filled with random classes but my schools did really bone me when it came to accepting transfer credits...my grades are below average anywhere from 3.2-3.6ish (hard to calculate with multiple transfers and cc classes) but i would say 3.50 is a safe estimate...any opinions? thanks guys

btw..did anyone here get accepted as a 5th year senior?

Hello,

I took three years at a community college before transferring to UCSD, this will be my 5th (and final year). I was full time the entire way through but I purposely chose not to overload myself as I was also working (30+hrs per week), and performing music full-time (35+hrs/ week), therefore, it took three years. In fact, I was rejected to UCSD the first time I applied to transfer because I did not have all pre-reqs complete and because of the very prominent impact rate at the time.

You state that you are part time, you may have to explain why this was in your PS for med, or to the AdCom during an interview. Hopefully you have strong reason.

I think what will look bad is if you have not matured more than the 4th years in your reasoning and understanding of what medicine is when you apply.

My best advice is to get some clinical experience and take some time to do some serious soul searching because it will take some very compelling reasons as to why you want to become a doctor. Your life for a very while will have no breaks, and so if AdComs see that you just could not hack it with full time courses, they might assume that you cannot handle the course load of medical school.

PM if you have any questions for me, I will be applying next cycle.

I did 5 years in undergrad. My last semester was literally 1 lab class. GPA and MCAT and letters >>>>> this other stuff.
