nopeWait. You never read it as a kid?!

One of my favorite Holiday movies! Behind A Christmas Story, Home Alone, and Elf, of course. :nerd:Watched the Polar Express movie for the first time tonight; previously I'd only heard the songs when they came on my Pandora Christmas station. It was...quite weird. I liked the story I made up in my head from the few songs I knew better.

next time you are bored on a layover at the airport...![]()
There were feels, but Moffat could do better.Doctor Who, so many feels!
Yeah, it just jumped around a lot.Doctor Who....There wasn't enough emotional build-up for me....it was kinda like *pop* here's 12. End.
Still feeling empty though. 🙁
This belongs in the rant thread. I had pneumonia last year and it was the ultimate worst. I was seriously winded just walking up a flight of stairs for a month and a half. It sucked.Pneumonia is absolutely a nightmare... Ugh. 🙁
All I can do so far is cough, cough more, see the white light while coughing for 5 minutes, and drink things that don't taste like what they're supposed to taste like. Oh and my throat is sore. i want one!!! seriously my luck that the notebook that matches what i'm looking for is only in korea. gah. all i want is a little binder notebook to fit in my lab coat pocket so that i can take notes during rotations/insert handy cheats like drug doses/etc. i want it to have binder rings so that i can move things around as i please (curse of perfectionism) but it needs to be rather small. so far all i've found are rather expensive pocket planners/calendars and i haven't found a system that includes lined paper (or even blank paper)

Question: how terrible an idea would it be for me to start reading Game of Thrones at the very start of a new semester? I thinking really really terrible . . .
Terrible? Or terribly good? 😛
I'm about halfway through the third book; goal is to finish it and start the fourth before classes start.

More terrible in a "I'm going to waste all my time reading and fail out of vet school" kind of way.
I've never read the books or seen the show, but it sounds like something I would really like so I went out and bought the first book. Now I'm debating whether it's really a good idea for me to start it during school!![]()
I would use it as motivation. Try to be disciplined and allow yourself to read a chapter after studying for X hours.Question: how terrible an idea would it be for me to start reading Game of Thrones at the very start of a new semester? I thinking really really terrible . . .

It is good to have something to look forward to besides the mythical DVM/VMD at the end of 4 years.
Short term gratification rules!
👍
I'm a big fan of reading before bed. Even if it's only a chapter or two, it's a good way to unwind, get your mind off of school and in some other world for a bit, and get yourself drowsy so you can fall asleep quickly.
me too! except when i find a book i really enjoy and end up staying up way too late because i just cant put it down 😉👍

The ones that get me are the writers that use short chapters and/or always have suspenseful chapter endings. It's like...the literature equivalent of netflix autoplay.
"Oh, this is getting really intense! Maybe just one more chapter, I'm not that tired yet"
"Only starting to get drowsy one more"
"Okay maybe I am tired, but, but I have to know what he does next?!"
"The next one is only 12 more pages!"
"^%$*. It's 4am."
All. The. Time. The best is when you fall asleep and smack yourself in the face with your book/nook/kindle.

this is how i study. and this is in part why i have to actively study instead of just read my notes, because there's no such thing as a comfortable position with paper notes/books. i read with a nook so thats not a problem at night fortunately
I read on my side in bed. Have been known to wake up with my hand on my kindle under my pillow.
Side note: I read Shogun during 1st term, Looong book. So good. Up way too late to listen to Pasquini yelling and smell formalin in the early morning.
Very enertaining.
