Random Stuffs

HSVMA is the veterinary medicine branch of the HSUS.
Yeah I learned that after wards. HSVMA def did not make it obvious it was a branch of HSUS before. Very strange

Also PETA is definitely involved with ALF. They use to be a lot more open about supporting them, but seem to have distanced themselves publically.

Our school has an HSVMA chapter and had an HSUS regional dude come do a lunch lecture that caused quite a stir. It's also the only reason I haven't done a RAVS trip.

PETA may be growing concerned over 1) ALF's classification as a terrorist group and 2) their own loss in popularity. Idiocy like the tweet on Steve Irwin's birthday is certainly spreading the word on their two-faced-ness.

Yeah the drama at your school was how I learned they were the same

ALF has been classified as a terrorist group for a long time, and PETA was still pretty open about them before. I think PETA is trying to be taken a bit more seriously and that’s also contributed to the distance, but clearly they’re failing epically when they have those ****ty shaming campaigns still

@JaynaAli

Shet, I’m on the mobile app and I’m brain farting her username. Someone fix me if I’m wrong plz k thx.

Ooo I was right, it just looked weird in lower case. Hah.

@nyanko my bacteriology professor today was talking about the neuro department at your school and my brain went “!!!! I know someone in that department!!!”

thought I’d say hello. Hope all’s going well!

Things are a little nutso right now - the only neurologist in St. Louis recently moved on so there's now no other neurologists in the entire state of MO and a limited number in the surrounding states so our caseload has basically doubled. And I was the only resident on service for a week. And on call for both med and surg cases.

Other than that it's good. 😉

Oh wow!!! That’s insane

The flip side is that the week I was the only resident on and had 10 inpatients at once and was in surgery past 10 pm three nights was still way better to me than the 2 kind of cushy weeks on Internal Medicine where the only inpatient I had for more than 2 days was one that was in radiation isolation after I-131 and I didn't even have to do anything with the cat for its stay.

Sounds like you found where you need to move to when you finish 🤣

Was offered a new job that sounds like it’s going to be a good opportunity for me. It’ll involve some commuting on my part initially cause the hospital I’m going to be at is not built yet, but the company will pay for all of that. Just nervous to start something new. Pros seem to outweigh the cons and I think I’ll have a better QOL in the long run, but just nervous for change.

Hey @cdoconn @vetmedhead theres a new SDN article for you guys

I read that list and I was like…so med students just want the same 💩 everyone else wants? What was the point of the article then? I think maybe only the laser printer is the one thing that might be on a med student's wedding registry and not a normal person's registry. (I mean no judgement on anyone that wants one and isn't in any health school though, laser printers are awesome.)

Hubs and I really want to go see Avengers: Endgame but have trust issues letting some random stranger babysit our kiddo. Today we were talking about me taking a half day off work just to see the movie while he's at daycare. We're ridiculous and yet IDK what else to do other than wait for relatives to visit again.

Ugh why am I so paranoid about this little guy?!

You don't have anyone at your work or friends that you would trust?

One of our doctors has a Lil one and one of our techs became her babysitter. Only on occasion, but still

Drive 2.5 hours south and bring him to me

Kind of? But no one has indicated a desire to babysit or they live way out in the burbs so feel like it would be an imposition to ask... and of course I don't want anyone to feel obligated to watch my spawn just so I can go see a movie if they're really not into that sort of thing... bleh

Drive 2.5 hours south and bring him to me
Don't tempt me...

Do you know any other parents who have babysitter recommendations? My law school roommate babysits for a somewhat well-to-do couple regularly. In the last two days, she's babysat for 3 or 4 new couples just so they could go see Endgame after being recommended by the original couple.

Omg why didn't we think of that?!?! Wasn't sure how we were going to go but that's brilliant.

Me thinking about GoT tonight while also still feeling emotionally unstable from Endgame all amidst the fact that I have 4 finals this week:

Got to my 4th year friend's house for GOT (after seeing Endgame Thursday night) and just got called in for our Equine Emergency Team -_-

Yesterday morning I walked to a coffee stand with my dog and the girls were commenting on how bright it was with the sun shining through the window. One of the girls said something like "it's weird, the sun usually shines through the other window." I asked "...do you usually work in the afternoon?" And the response was "....yeah!"

🙄
