You do know the whole story right. That the coffee was like 210 degrees or something and she got third degree burns on her legs. The coffee was way hotter than safe/accepted standards.
I agree our society is too litigious, but that story is overblown.
Yeah, look up the whole story before shaking your head at it.
Yes, I know the whole story. And I still think it was stupid.
Duhhhhhh. Hot coffee is hot.
(I thought she put it between her legs and was taking the lid off to put cream or something in there and then spilled the whole thing on her? Car was parked and she wasn't driving.)
And yes, McDonalds could have just settled with her(for more than the $1k or so they were offering). That was their part of the fault as to why it went so far.
But I do still find the whole thing ridiculous, even knowing the full story.
