You do know the whole story right. That the coffee was like 210 degrees or something and she got third degree burns on her legs. The coffee was way hotter than safe/accepted standards.

I agree our society is too litigious, but that story is overblown.

Yeah, look up the whole story before shaking your head at it.

Yes, I know the whole story. And I still think it was stupid.

Duhhhhhh. Hot coffee is hot.

(I thought she put it between her legs and was taking the lid off to put cream or something in there and then spilled the whole thing on her? Car was parked and she wasn't driving.)

And yes, McDonalds could have just settled with her(for more than the $1k or so they were offering). That was their part of the fault as to why it went so far.

But I do still find the whole thing ridiculous, even knowing the full story.

I think I would like to do this.........

My boyfriend wants to go on an unplanned spur of the moment trip leaving tomorrow. He mentioned going to Atlanta and visiting the Georgia Aquarium. Has anyone been here? anything else to do in the Atlanta area? It's a 10ish hour trip for us - do you think itd be worth it for 4-5 days in that area? His other ideas were Ocean City, MD (7 hour trip), New York City (7 hour trip) or Smokey Mountains (8ish hours). I think he just wants to get away from PA for a while haha.

Haven't been to the aquarium, but it's supposed to be awesome. If I recall correctly. part of AQUAVET III is done there.

I've actually never been into Atlanta despite having relatives right outside it but I would imagine there is a ton to do there. You can also go hike Stone Mountain which is a bit outside Atlanta. Not sure how hot/gross it is down there but I did it once and it wasn't too bad and they have lifts to take you back down, or up if you're feeling lazy.

I went through Atlanta on a college tour and stopped at the Coke Museum. It was pretty fun, especially the floor where you get to try all the crazy flavors from around the world.

thats the best part!

I like the GA aquarium but some people on here disagree. I also enjoy their zoo. But it's a small one. (I'm probably biased because they let me do an U/S on a panda during an externship)

Atlanta: love the aquarium and the Coca Cola museum. There is also Six Flags, shopping, the bar scene, etc. I like the zoo as well

Smoky Mountains (Gatlinburg): where I'm from... Aquarium, Dollywood, splash county, tons of mini golf, zip lines, white water rafting, shopping, hiking, lots of little touristy things. Knoxville has a decent zoo and there is a petting zoo locally, too.

I honestly think there is more to do in the smoky mountains...but that just is me.

I think you just have to know Atlanta to do more. They don't have as much of the outdoor stuff.

Also, in Gatlinburg you have to deal with the super Tennessee Tennesseans 😉

Coke factory is amazing - you can drink 50 different flavors for free

Everyone should check out the google homepage today!!!

I wouldn't go to OC. The bridge is a btch and a half on a good day and it's just so..touristy-beachy. I guess I'm biased because I've lived in MD all my life and everyone goes there so it just seems beaten to death to me.

I've been to the GA aquarium when it first opened and loved it. I think there's enough to do in the ATL area to spend a few days 🙂 Although the Smokey Mts would be gorgeous...

Edit: I went to Tripadvisor Atlanta (I love Tripadvisor haha) and found this: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Guide-g60898-l26-Atlanta_Georgia.html

I've been to Ocean City once before and don't remember it being bad but maybe once you've experienced it once, you've experienced it all

I think I'm leaning towards Atlanta. Thanks for that link! I looked at the Atlanta Braves Website and they're playing my hometown team monday tuesday and wednesday. Guess I'm packing my pittsburgh pirates gear if we go there! :meanie:

Whatever it was, it's not up anymore. 🙁

It was 6 petri dishes that were animated to grow out each letter in bacteria...if that makes sense.

I finally bought myself a new phone after almost 3 years of the same one. My G2 has finally reached the end of its time in my palm. Battery only lasts 30 mins tops, replaced battery, recalibrated it. Never improved. Bf is a tech junkie and tells me everyday how out dated it is...sigh. I never found a phone that made me want to update until last week. Hopefully my HTC One comes tomorrow. I got a killer deal on ebay.

I have today and tomorrow off. I have this idea that I want to play tourist and take lots of pictures around San Francisco before I move, so I get my fill and have lots of fun summer memories. Then I want to take the pictures of friends, family, and scenes around the Bay Area and create a photo book.

Police just stopped by my flat. Told me someone was assaulted on my street close to my flat at 5:30 this morning. They asked if I had heard anything. I was asleep so I didn't hear anything, but that is really scary. I walked home by myself at around 11:30PM last night... :scared:

That sounds like a great idea! It's definitely something I plan to do in NYC before we move 😀

Yeah, my friend and I are going to walk the Golden Gate Bridge this afternoon. It is clear skies and pretty out, so I think we are going to get some great pics

eek! That is scary. 🙁 Stay safe and don't walk around by yourself so late.

I posted Sad Cat Diary at the top of this page but no one watched 🙁
It's funny people... watch this! 😀

Huuummmp daaaay- yeeeeaaaaah!!!

Bahaha I love it, so funny!!

Hmm ... what do you guys think of this? A few months ago we took our dog to this newish emergency hospital near our house and my husband told the vet my life story practically (when I wasn't in the room). Then she told him I should come volunteer and experience ER (I work in a GP). I've got evenings free this summer and decided it'd be the perfect time to volunteer there. Monday I dropped off a cover letter and resume then called this afternoon. The vet said "yeah, you can volunteer. Come in anytime after noon". I asked if evenings were ok and she said evenings were perfect. I asked if she would like me to let her know ahead of time that I was coming in and she said nope, just come in whenever.

Soooo ... ok. I feel a little awkward just waltzing in at my convenience but if that's how she wants it then ok. Would it be weird if I waited until next Monday to go in? I can't tomorrow, Friday, or Saturday and my husband would be mad if I went on Sunday (he feels very strongly about me not scheduling anything on Sundays because that's my 1 day off). Would I seem desperate if I went in tonight? That would be ~4 hours after I called.

Or am I just reading way too much into this?? 😕

I would just phone and tell them when they can expect you. If Monday is the day then that's fine. If they are so casual about you coming in I doubt they will care either way.

Hello,

If you are retaking a pre req after completing your degree, does that GPA get plugged into your last 45?. I retook Organic 2 after Biochem and Clinical Biochem because it was the fastest way and only way available to raise my GPA. Also is there was a specific site that list schools that mostly look at last 45.

Thank You
