OMG!! This perfectly represents how I felt when I heard this song!!!! 😀

Monster Collar

This is the collar I'm getting for my puppy monster. I called her that from the first day and want to get her a collar that matches her name.

Has anyone else seen other monster design collars? I'm open for suggestions. Sadly I couldn't find much more than that..

Cute collar! I call mine "monster" too 😀

I also found a cookie monster and pikachu one. I'm thinking about making a whole 'monster type' collection.

I'm trying to decide what collar to back it with and what color to use for a monogram. It has so many colors already that I don't know what would show up nicely..

I say blue, red, yellow, or green.

In fact, I think I might buy it in blue for my monster 😀. You can even pick the color buckle you want! 🙂

I might have to get these for my pups bc I am not ready for orange and blue yet. This will be my half arsed attempt at being a U FL Gator :meanie:

I was thinking about green to at least go a little bit with her real name (Ivy).

But which one then?

And what color for her name?

This is bad.. this shouldn't be so hard..

I like them both! Very cute colors!

I really like all the owl collars that I've found, but think that's a weird name to call her.. :meanie:

Definitely olive green because it will match the colors already on the collar (assuming its the same olive green as the eyes, etc.).

Personally, I would do the name in whatever color you chose as the backing, but that's just me. Not sure if you would really be able to see her name since the color is so busy though.

I was thinking the same thing. Both the same color.

How about light blue for both? It's in there a little bit and would still show up.. Or dark blue in the back and light blue for the name? Then I'd have both shades in there.. haha

I like the second idea, mostly because I know how dirty they can get, so the darker the color of the backing, the better IMO. 👍

That's why I wasn't so sure about the red. One of our dogs has that and it's hard to keep it clean.. Maybe I'll do that. Thank you for the help. 😍

👍 Make sure you take a pic when you get it 😀

Just ordered it. Royal blue backing and light blue writing. I'm so excited.

And definitely will! 😍

Should be here next week!

Isn't it weird how exciting it is to get packages?
You know you're an old cripple when you order 12 things in the last week and the one you are most excited for is an SI joint stabilizing belt 🙄

Yes! And it will be the first one at the new house, too!

I agree. I would have liked that better but I still like it 😀

Yeah definitely, sorry, I didn't mean to deflate your balloon by saying that 😳. It's definitely a cool shirt.

No don't worry about it Em! I didn't get my feelings hurt anything. Honestly I didn't notice at first and when you pointed it out I was like Dammit! She's right! lol

This is a must read!! 👍 Very awesome! I hope I am that young at heart and spry at that age as a vet!

One of my eLOR writers is a 73 year old veterinarian. Until his birthday 2 years ago, I had NO idea he was even close to that old! He still goes on 4 week long snow skiing trips out west every year. He is crazy. I asked him how he stays so young and healthy and he said he stays young by being around young people 🙂. Love that man, he's amazing. He ran CIRCLES around the other vets in the practice in their 20s and 30s.

One of my favorite vets of all time was Dr. Quecke!! (sounds like quick) He was 74 and hilarious!!! I loved him. He would come back talking about crazy *** owners but at least the dog is loved  His entire left arm was covered in scars from a dog attack (probably one of the reason I had a connection to him, I was attacked in the face at 17 and had to have my top reconstructed) and when asked about it he always said it was a mistake he never made twice!!! Miss him.

Is anyone else concerned that she is tearing down other vets in this article, and offering to fix a fracture for $50?! "A $3.50 bone pin and a bit of time?!"

I'm happy she's still vivacious and all, but not so happy that she's running a low rent, low standard of care kind of clinic that reminds me of The Amazing Dr. Pol BS in which it is us vs them and all our new fangled x-rays and tests and gas anesthesia and monitoring is SO terrible and designed to make us money, we money grubbing new grads.

Yeah I totally get your point. When I read the $3.50 bone pin I rolled my eyes because there are anesthesia, suture, medication, salary and utility costs to factor in as well. I saw her less as tearing down other vets though and just addressing more that she wants to help as many animals as she is capable of. I think her goals are admirable if her presentation of them may be less so. It did mention that she is aware that newer vets are coming out of school with crippling debt so she acknowledges the vets HAVE to make a profit?

She was tearing down the standard of care.
Granted, many veterinarians have higher overhead, and many come out of school saddled with student debt. Kathee Ludwig, who has worked with Larson since the spay/neuter clinic opened more than two decades ago, says the business has changed dramatically.
"Doc Prior and Dr. Larson did more by the skin of their teeth. They do stuff by feel and examination," Ludwig says. "Now the whole mind-set is x-ray, ultrasound. God forbid you do anything by looking at the animal."
The person writing the article inserts the comment about debt. The idea that we are needing to charge more to cover our debt is not the real problem here. We charge more because we believe in a better standard of care and it costs to do the x-rays to ensure the fx was set right, it costs to anesthetize with gas rather than injection as it is obvious that cat in the picture was and to monitor that cat after surgery etc.

ETA: And that last bit "God forbid you do anything by looking at the animal" is offensive. It essentially claims newer vets do not have hands on skills at all.

Oh yeah touche. I must have read it incorrectly, though sometimes I do that because I can never seem to focus on one thing at once. I think I might have been guilty of giving her an out because she seems to care about animals, comes from a different era and is a "cute little old lady".
Yeah I completely see where you're coming from

I have no doubt she cares. She cares enough to do low cost spays. In my experience the people who do that care for animals a ton. She just doesn't realize what her opinion is doing to the overall opinion and economy of vet med. If she feels we should charge the same amount for spays we did in 1980 today, that's grand but it's idealistic and not enough to cover costs and maintain high level of care, just with inflation.

I'm not attacking you at all Abney, btw. Just frustrated that Vets will say this about other Vets.

Oh no FTB no worries!!!! I was agreeing with you whole heartedly. I read it one way, but like I said it was an "Aww, what a sweet little old lady" way. Once you mentioned it I realized that the tech or whatever she was was impugning newer vets for using any diagnostic tools. That's stupid!

So if I dye my hair today I will post a picture in the lounge around 5:30 or so. You have been warned.

Aw man. Come on. It needs to cool down soon then so I can go to the dog park and be back by then..
