What Not to Wear, you can't make me care about dressing nicely no matter how dang hard you try!

So for those of you who have gotten acceptances...

Does the compulsive SDN/rereading-schools-pages/checking-portals/looking-at-hypothetical-apartments/not-doing-your-homework&studying-because-all-you-do-is-think-about-your-applications problem improve after you know you have a seat?

Well.... Not really 😀. Now it's look at non-hypothetical apartments, do I want a roommate, am I going to get more pets down the line, what size apartment/house do I want, what supplies do I need, etc, etc, etc. Right now it's less stressful because I don't have to worry about IF, but in a few months it's going to turn into oh god this is actually happening how am I going to survive? So I'm enjoying what I have going now.

I just started watching Nip/Tuck. 😱 I didn't think it was going to be so graphic! Totally not expecting that.

Meh, it's so blizzardy and I don't know what to do with myself. I should do something productive, but I'm sick and don't have the energy. But I'm ansy and don't want to sit around any more. I would go play in the snow but lungs are not going to appreciate that.

I know how you feel (minus being sick!) 🙁 It's snowing and miserable outside, so I can't go anywhere. My house needs to be cleaned like, last week, I have to put away the laundry I did yesterday, I have plenty of studying I can do and plenty of trip planning I could be doing but I feel like just lying on the couch reading. And then I get bored and eat. And then I check SDN. Repeat. Sigh.

So, I have a question.

I have looked up stats from all the schools I wish to attend eventually and noticed that not one of them (at least the ones who list the info) have ever accepted a person with a degree from my school. I go to a community college. It is fully accredited and a 4 year institution...But in no way is it a UF or USF.

Once I get my pre-reqs done for applying I will only have just over a year left before I achieve a BS Biology. So I plan to just keep going to school and apply every cycle.

Should I transfer to a bigger university to get my BS? I do not want to. I know $ will be just drops in the bucket after vet school but I would rather not spend the money if I don't have too.

Does the prestige of the school you've attended matter?

With the exception of a few schools (Cornell and Penn I think), generally your undergrad institution doesn't account for much. As much as perhaps it should, logistically it's so difficult to quantify the difficulty of every undergrad institution that it just has to play a very minor role if any. I would save your money and stay where you are.

although other schools require upper level classes to be at a 4 year school (for example UCDavis).

Check each schools requirements carefully.

Yes, that is true. Many of the schools require your upper level science courses to be taken at a 4 year university. So hard to say if mommafox's school would fly since it's a cc but a 4 year.

👍

Grades matter more than where you took the classes.

If it's a small school and doesn't have a big pre-vet program, it's entirely possible no one from your school applied to those schools. Certainly consider what everyone else said, but...well, LSU probably hasn't accepted anyone from my undergrad before, but that doesn't mean I'm not a great applicant!

I second this. I'm 99.9% sure Mizzou has never had anyone from my university. Heck, they only accepted 1 person from my state last year

OP- just make sure you rock out an awesome GPA and have great experiences!!!

Thanks guys....Now that I'm getting into higher science classes I was getting paranoid. I feel better now.

Not sure if this is a rant or a rave, because I have a strong suspicion it'll just be "idiopathic" again.... I had more blood work on Friday to try to trace the cause of my totally crappy circulation. Cortisol, TSH, ANA mainly. A previous blood test showed my thyroid was fine, but I'm not sure which of the half-dozen thyroid tests that was.

The Walking Dead is on right now, back from its mid-season break.

Is anyone else into this show?!?!?

Also, I might have the hots for Daryl 🙂

I should have been working on my Ochem lab report yesterday but I may have spent most of the afternoon watching The Walking Dead marathon:whistle:

I just recently got into that show (watched the past seasons on Netflix) and now am obsessed with it.

And I may have the hots for Daryl too..

I'm still working on my ochem lab report. Started it yesterday before lunch and just couldn't get myself to finish it. An hour left now until its due! Haha

I am just going to become an exotic dancer. Eff this school stress stuff, I'm over it.

My roommate always tells me to just say screw it and start popping out kids. And that Taco Bell will probably hire me back...lol

question for you and whoever wants to chime in.

doing a lab report for bio that includes plasmolysis. do you think creating an illustration in paint or illustrator and including it in the results section is tacky? This is truthfully one of the first real big girl lab reports I have done.

Anyone else into knitting? I've gotten....way too obsessed with it. I've knit baby booties, a doggie sweater-dress, a doll skirt and matching hat, and a stuffed dog. I've only been doing this for a month.

Help, please.

Ahhh! Don't tell me! Don't tell me! I was flying back from Minnesota last night so I haven't seen it yet! 😛

Watch it. Stat.

I never thought I would be into a show that made me want to vomit at least once an epsidode. Next Sunday cannot come soon enough!
