I shouldn't do it because it gives me a bad case of the wants, but I like to look at condos for sale on Zillow in my area. Tonight I found an awesome 2 bedroom with a full finished basement. The living room/dining room/kitchen/bedrooms/bathroom were all on one floor too which I prefer. The whole place was recently renovated with hard floors throughout most of the first floor and new carpet in other areas. The basement was like a childhood dream. Just one big open space with a small office/craft room. It also had windows so it wasn't cave-like. I could fit so many foster bunnies in that basement. It also had a small fenced in patio and a one car garage.

Price: $69,000
(i.e. cheaper per month with utilities, mortgage, condo fees, etc. than my current rental)

I wants but I can't haves right now. One day.

If it's cheaper than your current rental, why not go for it?

Well, I would still need around $13,000 for the down payment which I don't have and I don't want to borrow that from my parents so I would likely not qualify for standard home loans anyway. Plus, if things don't work out in Columbus over the next year, like I don't get into vet school again, I've been considering relocating for a job or chasing another graduate degree somewhere else. Purchasing something like that now just isn't practical.

For a 69000 house, you can put down 2.5% if you do PMI. Aka all you would need to do is put a little under 2 grand into it, plus closing costs, which range from 2-5k depending on the area. But if you have some student loan debt, you most likely would need a family member to sign the mortgage with you, even if you have an okay income currently. Just something to think about 🙂

I'm definitely going to try to convince my boyfriend that buying a house makes more sense in Denver right now over renting. But we won't be taking about it seriously until Christmas break when I am home from work for a week. Are other places in the country experiencing the same thing where average rent is higher than average mortgages?

I'm in Denver right now. Word up from RiNo. I can hear a train going through right now.

Well, Fort Collins is that way, but that's not much distance.

At that point of exam studying where I'm no longer actually studying, but coming up with study-related names for future offspring. Toti(potent) is my favorite. Morula is pretty great too.

If you had the last name Potent it would be better. Please meet my daughters Pluri, Toti, and Uni Potent.

I would totes do this except my boyfriend wouldn't let that fly. He won't even let me name a boy John after Master Chief. The Potent Triplets would be too much for him.

Solution: hide pregnancy for 9 months. Give birth secretively in hospital. Name baby whatever you want. Come home with baby and birth certificate in hand. SURPRISE

He thinks John is an unreasonable name? See, this is why men shouldn't be involved in the child-naming process. Getting to name the kid should be a consolation prize for giving birth.

He has no problem with the name John. He has a problem with me wanting to name the child John after Master Chief. lol. His dad's name is John in fact.

that and their pronunciation of duodenum

Doo-aw-doo-num!
My SO speaks 2 languages before English, and you can't tell at all 99% of the time. But, he says some words very weirdly like aluminum and calcium. He pronounces them "al-loo-min-ee-um" and "cal-shum". I can't help but poke some fun at him for it 😉

When I was at school in the states, the way I said capillary raised some eyebrows.

Ca-PILL-ary vs CAP-ill-ary

Is the first way not correct? Cause that's how I say it too.

Jk, according to Google it's the second way? Add this to the list of words I say completely wrong.

I don't think the first way is wrong. That's how it's pronounced in Canadaland.

I meant correct in the states 😛

The first way sounds better to me, so clearly Canada is right here and the US is just silly.

I don't know how to pronounce meme, and I don't think I've ever really heard anyone say it. I'd like to pronounce it MEEm (like mean, with an m at the end) but someone once told me it was pronounce meh-may or mee-mee.

Wait. It's possibly not MEEm? I feel like I've only ever heard it pronounced this way.

LOLOL "MEE-MEE"?! That is too funny!! I pronounce meme like it rhymes with seem.

But it's not peanut butter! Or should I just be swapping consonants and calling the nutty goodness "gif"?
