Random Stuffs

Random question. Any ideas on how to label anatomy dissection instruments as your own? Since we are all ordering the same stuff I'm assuming it would be easy to mix things up and have various instruments run away. I was thinking maybe a piece of colored electrical tape, some colored nail polish, or something like that? I'm figuring a sharpie would just come right off.
Colored electrical tape might work best. You may look into getting something similar to the labels some practices put on their own instruments to distinguish them/tag them. You should look for something easy to clean, because your instruments will get gross.

An example:

Didn't label my stuff and didn't lose anything. But everyone had the same stuff so if suddenly you had two of something and someone else was missing one... easy to figure out. But I suppose if you have your own stuff that's better quality or something I could see wanting to label it.

You could get one of the small rolls of decorated duct tape. Did that with my thermometer when working in a clinic.

We shared an undergrad advisor actually, so I've chatted with her! She did a talk on the book and her experiences at the museum I worked for years... on the only weeknight I was on call during radiology. :c

I was mostly looking at the pictures 😳

This is super cool. Never seen this in a horse before.

Interesting case this week, this condition is called polydactyly, which means an extra digit. This one month old foal had the extra digit on the inside of the left fetlock. The extra digit had all the normal structures (fetlock, pastern, and coffin joint, as well as a formed hoof). The removal went well and the foal is recovering nicely!

That's really cool! Never seen polydactyly in a horse before, either. 🙂

He was trying to be a sea horse and you had to go and remove the little horse flipper that he worked so hard to grow. 🙁

(this is a VERY cool case, btw)

Tonight I was researching a blood-borne parasite and stumbled across an article written by someone I know that uses a photo I took for reference. I wondered for a second how they got my photo, but I now remember being asked for an unpublished photo of said parasite by a resident. I just didn't know it was used for something like that...kinda cool.

I am always mystified by the wonders that microwaved wet cat food can do for anorexic kitties.

As an aside, to whoever it was that donated approximately 200 rice socks to our clinic today: thank you for your efforts, and also you could have stopped like 175 rice socks ago.

I don't think I've ever watched before, might have to make it a regular thing now. Or binge watch.
The grilled cheese robot one is the one that initially got me hooked, but it has enough adult language that I'm not going to post it on SDN, lol. Some of them are less successful than others, but they regularly make me giggle like an idiot.

Bit of a random question for all you USA folk:

How common are 2$ bills? I got tipped one the other day and was fascinated because I had never seen one before haha. Had no idea they even existed
They aren't used anymore, but I used to have quite a few for novelty sake. Kind of like half dollar coins.

Not super common, but you'll see them around occasionally. When I was a cashier they annoyed me because there was no spot for them in my till, ha, but there's a definite novelty to them. My SO likes to get a bunch of them from his bank and use them for tips/conversation fodder.

Came across one literally just a few days ago while sorting money out of the donation box. Weirded me out for a bit, ha!

I have a small stack of $2 bills my uncle gave me when I was much younger. Just never did anything with them. He just recently passed away so I think I'm just going to keep them now.

What happens to the rate of an E2 reaction if the concentration of chlorocyclopentane is doubled and the concetration of sodium hydroxide is tripled?

It is hexled? Is hexled even a word?

Weird fashion question. I'm going to go to a wedding this summer, as a guest with my SO, who is in the wedding party. I've never been to a wedding before and I'm currently dress shopping... what's the status quo on dresses? Does it need to match my SO, or would that be too close to the bridesmaids? Or should it just compliment the wedding colors even though it wouldn't directly match him? In the end I'll probably just pick one I like and not care if it matches but I was wondering if there's an unspoken guideline for that sort of thing...

I would just make sure it's nice enough for the standards of the wedding (formal, semi-formal, casual, whatever). Wouldn't worry too much about the colors since I'm assuming you won't be in the wedding party photos or anything.

The only rule I would worry about is the no white rule. Stick with a color or pattern. Doesn't need to match.

I forgot who signed up for it. But how are people enjoying the shark class??

About halfway done with the first week's material, but so far so good! They're doing a great job keeping material short, sweet, and to the point (though it helps I have a bit of a background in the topics they're currently covering).

About 1200mi later and 22 hours of driving, we arrived at my new home today. Place needs a little work and a lot of cleaning (hard core judging the home owners right now because they moved out 2 months ago and never bothered to do any sort of cleaning before renting - it's gross) but should otherwise be okay. It was 65 and rainy today. Missing the florida weather right about now...it took less than 6 hours for a local to make fun of my multiple layers of coats haha
