It's definitely a privileged mindset to think that "just travel" would solve all our problems (not to suggest that's what your point was) but interacting with people that have different beliefs, mindsets, and cultures is very important to a person's development in my opinion, and unfortunately a lot of people in the US just don't get that opportunity (or in some cases, actively avoid it, though to be fair there's plenty of insular groups and people outside the States). Would be nice if, say, a nationwide rail network allowed people from underprivileged backgrounds to explore other states and countries (yes Canada and Mexico do have different vibes even if they aren't Spain and Australia) but I digress
