I just wanted to say this is a vibe I appreciate. My BFF has a house husband intermittently when he gets tired of the bs at whatever job he decides he wants to do. Mine would also pry be a house husband if I didn't need him for health insurance purposes.to keep my house husband.

I can absolutely support society going back to single income household due to the significant quality of life improvement that comes with a House Spouse. Obviously not a tenable proposition at this point for society. But I have so many friends who are like, "How is your house so picked up with a kid?" when I send Snapchats to other parents. And I'm like, "House husband!!"
Where do I find one of these...I can absolutely support society going back to single income household due to the significant quality of life improvement that comes with a House Spouse.
I have found engineers tend to enjoy being house husbands.....Where do I find one of these...

7th grade for me
Ah yes. Perfect. I’d go look there right now but that’s a little young for me.7th grade for me
I’ve pretty much made peace with the fact that I’ll always be a single income household and I’ll have to act as my own house husband in addition to being my own breadwinner. But it’s fine.
This was me for a while and I was going to become a spinster and live with @cdo96 and @Caiter92I’ve pretty much made peace with the fact that I’ll always be a single income household and I’ll have to act as my own house husband.

My ex was a mechanical engineer, but one who skated by through school. Definitely expected me to be the one to be the stay at home spouse when we were talking kids 😅

Look who decided to show 👀
You left us long ago 😂 so you weren’t a spinster with us anymore but the rest of us had no prospects 😂😂😂Way to forget that I was invited once upon a time
Got verification that child has been issued a SSN and it should be to my house any day. Getting birth certificate next week. Then just enough time to get him his passport.Turning 30 in July. Wanting to go somewhere/ do something for it. Baby will be almost 3mo. Suggestions? Things you did for turning 30?
Switzerland and Liechtenstein here we come. We may or may not be insane travelling with a 3mo old on international flights 😅

Honestly the best age! They're still potatoes that sleep, eat, and poop. So it's perfect. Note we've never traveled with Lil Bats internationally, but I imagine potato life doesn't change much with travel
My cousin and his wife did it! Some airlines have bassinets for the bulkhead row of seats that hook onto the wall!!Switzerland and Liechtenstein here we come. We may or may not be insane travelling with a 3mo old on international flights 😅
I have traveled international with a baby and lots of airlines provide bassinets, bottle warming services, and so much more. Definitely go to the airlines website and see what they offer. It was so helpful to have the bassinet. It allowed me a way to put my son down during the long 14.5 hour flight. My cousin and his wife did it! I found mine in a Country Western Dance Class ..... Maybe try that?7th grade for me
One thing I will say (probably won't apply to a 3 month old baby) but the bassinets usually have a weight and/or height limit, so definitely check thatI have traveled international with a baby and lots of airlines provide bassinets, bottle warming services, and so much more. I found my engineer in high school. He wasn't an engineer yet, took him a while. He's not a house husband, but he pays for people to come clean the house (and is happy with the child-free path) so that's okay. He's more of a sugar daddy at this point, since uh - vet med turned out to be not that lucrative.
Also, re: earlier conversation - I definitely don't remember what I did for my 30th birthday, but it wasn't extravagant. I was just happy to have a birthday where I wasn't a vet student for the first time in 4y.
I turn 40 later this year and I don't like the implication that I might be the oldest one here these days...

A friend of mine was able to find a lease like that! She rode 1-2x a week, and lessoned every other week I think.
I didn't want to derail the thread, but where do you find opportunities like this? I did horseback riding through the park district when I was a little girl and I LOVED it. It would be so nice to get back into horsemanship as an adult, but I could never afford to own a horse. It would be nice to pay someone just to hang out with their horse every so often and maybe ride the horsey if they are nice. My girlfriend has a horse but that horse has an attitude...
It was word of mouth, I actually found it for her as it was a horse at my barn. Definitely ask your girlfriend to put feelers out! A lot of horse people don’t actively advertise stuff, word of mouth and having a mutual or at least a good reference can get you pretty farI didn't want to derail the thread, but where do you find opportunities like this? Thank you so much! I will ask my girlfriend to ask at her barn. 🙂
If everyone could take a second to vote for a very bright animal-loving girl (daughter of one of the best vet techs ever) to move forward in this competition, it would be so sincerely appreciated. We've been fighting to keep her in first, but I think people are starting to throw big money down
You can vote once every 24 hours (for free), if you remember tomorrow.

Loving how restrictive this is. Curious what shenanigans unfold to try to get around things. Curious to hopefully watch the VPA crash and burn when hopefully very few vets will want to work with them.Update on what Colorado has done for the VPA position.

These rules have basically made it a worthless position. I love that even support staff aren't obligated to work with them if they don't want to. Our VTS has been super involved with this situation and she's a god-send.
I do wonder about the 'treatment of minor conditions is restricted to an RVT/VTS' or the line about delegating tasks. 1) Define minor condition and what tasks you intend to delegate 2) the amount of training between a newly graduated VPA and newly graduated RVT will be the same/similar, with the VPA (in theory) getting a more targeted diagnose/treat curriculum and the RVT getting an education that's specific to their role. A good RVT with years of experience can absolutely do a lot, but I guess I wonder why we are defaulting to trying to swap RVTs into the VPA role when we've never wanted them in such a position before (I guess that depends on the vet though) and their training is not geared towards treating. These rules have basically made it a worthless position. I'm not familiar with your state's practice act but in some states, this would probably necessitate that the tech portions of their practice acts be written to expand the scope of what an RVT can legally do. Simple, straightforward, no significant elevation/suturing dental extractions by a tech, for example, is against the practice act in many states but would absolutely be considered 'treating a minor condition' in my eyes.
To be clear, I'm not in favor of the mid-level position in any way shape or form, that just jumped out at me. I get that the goal is to just make the VPA position useless, but while simultaneously more pressure on our already dwindling, underpaid, and often undertrained/green tech staff....?

Talking with my vts, the goal for that seemed to be to say, "Hey, we already have a position for this." The context I would think of would be me asking a tech to get a wound care done (clip/clean) while I start another room. The last email I got from the board is to take the next step to clearly define the RVT roll (it's previously been very wishy washy).
you know when they ask what's in the water when everyone gets pregnant...yeah another one of our techs is pregnant. So that's 4 new babies in 1.5 years with only like 10 employees 😅 then I have a feeling were going to get at least 3 more kids in the next 2-3 years. Considering telling my boss not to drink the water as he might get pregnant as the only male in the clinic considering the roll we're on😂 at least everyone has staggered so not everyone is out at once.
I will be #7 in ~1.5 years at my zoo, lol. Adults should get themed bandaids too when we get injections at the doctors. Jealous of my child's disney bandaids meanwhile I'm over here sporting a very boring brown, plain bandaid 😂
I have a big birthday coming up and 100k+ credit card points to burn - does anyone have recs for places in the Caribbean to visit Jan-March? Mostly just wanna relax on a beach w/ the option to do an excursion or two here or there.
I joined a medieval combat team at the beginning of this year and one of my major contributions has been dino and Disney bandaids for all the miscellaneous injuries. 😂 They work better than boring ones!Adults should get themed bandaids too when we get injections at the doctors. Belize! Was absolutely shocked how lovely the small country was, and very easy to go from jungle (Mayan ruins!) to beach (and snorkel on the second largest barrier reef in the world!) in 3 hours. If you want more details feel free to PM. English speaking, takes USD and BZD, we had a great time.I have a big birthday coming up and 100k+ credit card points to burn - does anyone have recs for places in the Caribbean to visit Jan-March? I went to St Lucia like, a decade ago with my family and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since. Gorgeous island that isn’t as crowded as some of the other destinations down there, and has plenty of activities.I have a big birthday coming up and 100k+ credit card points to burn - does anyone have recs for places in the Caribbean to visit Jan-March? That’s where I’m planning on going for my honeymoon! But not to the north part of the island where a lot of the chain resorts are like sandals/dreams/etc strictly because of the long af drive up there and my motion sickness 🥲I went to St Lucia like, a decade ago with my family and I’ve been wanting to go back ever since. My husband is adorable. Our child has a racoon toy that he likes. So the other day I come home and my husband has given the racoon a name- randy the racoon. All of this coming from my 6'6" police officer husband, tough guy. I thought it was adorable that is all lol

I think West Nile is one of the more impressive ones though. Primarily infects birds of course, but also mammals, reptiles, even amphibians.
