to keep my house husband.

I just wanted to say this is a vibe I appreciate. My BFF has a house husband intermittently when he gets tired of the bs at whatever job he decides he wants to do. Mine would also pry be a house husband if I didn't need him for health insurance purposes.

I can absolutely support society going back to single income household due to the significant quality of life improvement that comes with a House Spouse. Obviously not a tenable proposition at this point for society. But I have so many friends who are like, "How is your house so picked up with a kid?" when I send Snapchats to other parents. And I'm like, "House husband!!"

I’ve pretty much made peace with the fact that I’ll always be a single income household and I’ll have to act as my own house husband in addition to being my own breadwinner. But it’s fine.

Turning 30 in July. Wanting to go somewhere/ do something for it. Baby will be almost 3mo. Suggestions? Things you did for turning 30?

Got verification that child has been issued a SSN and it should be to my house any day. Getting birth certificate next week. Then just enough time to get him his passport.

Honestly the best age! They're still potatoes that sleep, eat, and poop. So it's perfect. Note we've never traveled with Lil Bats internationally, but I imagine potato life doesn't change much with travel

My cousin and his wife did it! Some airlines have bassinets for the bulkhead row of seats that hook onto the wall!!

I have traveled international with a baby and lots of airlines provide bassinets, bottle warming services, and so much more. Definitely go to the airlines website and see what they offer. It was so helpful to have the bassinet. It allowed me a way to put my son down during the long 14.5 hour flight.

One thing I will say (probably won't apply to a 3 month old baby) but the bassinets usually have a weight and/or height limit, so definitely check that

I found my engineer in high school. He wasn't an engineer yet, took him a while. He's not a house husband, but he pays for people to come clean the house (and is happy with the child-free path) so that's okay. He's more of a sugar daddy at this point, since uh - vet med turned out to be not that lucrative.

Also, re: earlier conversation - I definitely don't remember what I did for my 30th birthday, but it wasn't extravagant. I was just happy to have a birthday where I wasn't a vet student for the first time in 4y.

I turn 40 later this year and I don't like the implication that I might be the oldest one here these days...

A friend of mine was able to find a lease like that! She rode 1-2x a week, and lessoned every other week I think.

I didn't want to derail the thread, but where do you find opportunities like this? I did horseback riding through the park district when I was a little girl and I LOVED it. It would be so nice to get back into horsemanship as an adult, but I could never afford to own a horse. It would be nice to pay someone just to hang out with their horse every so often and maybe ride the horsey if they are nice. My girlfriend has a horse but that horse has an attitude...

It was word of mouth, I actually found it for her as it was a horse at my barn. Definitely ask your girlfriend to put feelers out! A lot of horse people don’t actively advertise stuff, word of mouth and having a mutual or at least a good reference can get you pretty far
