I have been staring at my rank list for ages and I'm kind of stuck in a rut. I keep repeating the same arguments of pros and cons to myself and it has become pretty meaningless.

Because I am at a loss, I thought some fresh perspective might help me out. Not that I expect the internet people to make my rank list for me, but more so I can gauge my reaction to your thoughts and figure out where I stand.

Here are the programs I am having trouble with (in no particular order). I realize they are wildly different...

Jefferson
Lancaster
Middlesex
Overlook
Christiana

Thoughts/comments/rants/advice? Much appreciated!

I have a classmate at Christiana and Lancaster (as in Lanc Gen). One of my friends actually lives extremely close to Lanc Gen but commutes to residency every day. Anyway, both of these people are happy at their respective places. Remember, Christiana is P4 and thus somewhat untraditional. If you don't think you'll do well in that environment I'd avoid it. The person at Lancaster can't speak highly enough about it.

I've heard that Lancaster is pretty good at providing semi-west-coast-style-FM on the East Coast (Lawrence is another place I'd look for that, but isn't on your list). I hadn't heard of it in med school, but since that point I've heard through the grapevine that they have pretty good OB training and aren't shabby on inpatient and hospitalist work.

Jefferson has some great immigrant health and community medicine programs, though they are overall in a fairly FM-unfriendly system is what I've heard.

I don't know about the other ones on your list, but those two both have some pluses, but seem kind of opposite. Maybe reflect on what kind of work you see yourself doing 5 and 15 years after residency and which program you think would prepare you best for that. Good luck! Making the rank list is so hard!
