This may be a dumb question, but here goes anyway. There are a few programs that have both PGY1 and PGY2 spots (UWash, RIC, Davis). Is it possible to rank both types of positions for the same institution or do you have to pick one route when ranking? For example:

1. RIC - PGY2 (with supplemental list of prelim programs)
2. RIC - PGY1 (no supplemental list)

Many thanks in advance!

...if you would be happy with both at that institution. But remember to place your preferences in appropriate order. For example, if you prefer a categorical spot, rank the cat. spot before the advanced. Good luck with the ranking process. I'm still confused.

You can definitely do that - and you can have a different supplemental list for every program if you wanted to do that. (i.e. rank prelim programs based on location)

thanks guys! That's definitely helpful to know. The ranking process is definitely less straightforward than I thought it would be.
