Ranking programs

We often view residencies as ranked (i.e., "the top program," "it's a middle tier program). I am unclear how residency programs are ranked. The only formal ranking that I can find is the U.S. News and World Report's assessment of the best hospitals by specialty. (I guess one extrapolates the hospital's caliber to that of the corresponding residency program.) Are there any other formal ranking publications?
