It's that season and I've run out of cortisol.

Anyone else bumming themselves out thinking of how to rank programs? My problem is you get to tell one program they're you're #1 babe. Can't say much else to your other programs, no side chicks. I have programs on my list that are known to only rank applicants high who express that #1 ranking. Multiple programs do this. No matter what, I feel disadvantaged as the applicant.

I know, everyone says rank them in the order of your preference. It just feels so random. I'll trust my future to an algorithm I guess.

I know nothing about this as an M1, but good luck 🙂 What are you going into?

If neurosurgery is anything like us, you were ranked before you even got to the airport. We don’t touch it again after that. I can’t imagine other surgical subs screwing around with their list after it’s done. It’s quite a pain in the butt making the list in the first place - who would want to do that again?!

Rank in order. Do NOT rank anywhere you don’t want to go. Do not try to game the algorithm; rank in the order you actually want. Tell someone they’re your number one if it makes you feel better. I never did this and neither did many others, but if it makes you feel better, then it probably doesn’t hurt.
