Hello,
OK, maybe this has been asked before but I couldn't find it on here.
I'm a little confused about the ROL and how it works. As I understand it, I am able to rank programs in my order of preference and also programs rank those they interviewed in order of preference. Then the best match between the two is where I get matched. So, for example, if I rank Program A as my number 1 choice, but they rank me number 10, and Program B ranks me number 5, and I rank them number 2, does that mean I will be matched to program B?
Does it really favor the applicant over the program?
If you don't like a program, should you rank them at all, just in case you don't match anywhere else?
Thanks a lot!

the rank is designed to get you to the highest place on your list that has a spot for you...so, it will not size you down to program B in your example unless program A is filled up.

it is pretty simple. rank everywhere in the exact order you want. the computer will place you in the highest place on your list that has a spot.

read the above link for a more precise explanation, but don't waste time trying to outsmart the match. just figure out your rank list and let the computer work it's magic!

Just certified my ROL. I'm officially done with my part in this entire process. Now, I'm going to sit back and wait till March 16 rolls in. 😀

Thanks for the replies!!! It's clearer to me how it works now. Good luck to you guys in your decisions!
