Who is #1?

I heard IU, Berkeley, OSU are consistanly in the top 3...IU is the best in clinical skills and research. Berkeley and OSU are the best in passing boards and basic sciences. Any disagreement?

i heard the one in puerto rico is the best, without any formal rankings and criteria, they are all just opinions

From what I've gathered, all of the schools are pretty comparable as far as the quality of the clinicians they turn out. It seems like the biggest difference is if you're interested in research.

And if you went to my school you heard UHCO, Berkeley, and OSU were the best. It's all subjective and there really aren't any bad schools. Honestly, they didn't even ask which school I went to when I interviewed places.. they just cared whether I passed the nightmarish Florida board

I was told the top three are Berkley, UHCO, and UAB. Honestly though, if you plan on just practicing optometry it doesn't matter! (the other option being academics or research)

I have heard though, that if you want to practice in one state that has an optometry school in it, a good way of getting contacts would be to go to that school.

I know that certain schools have pretty high board passing rates...and the national average is usually substantially lower. So this must mean that some schools have really low passage rates, right? I also heard that one schools passage rate represents after the third try. 😱

Some of them report their rates with a little astrick next to them that says *at graduation.

I would hope you'd have a 99+% pass rate for part one AT GRADUATION.

Our Part I pass rate was 80% this year.

Our pass rate for part I was 86% this year. It has definitely been on the rise. 🙂
