My doggie died at home this morning, an hour before her scheduled euthanasia.

On the one hand, she was outside in her favorite place, surrounded by her family. But on the other, I feel like that means we waited entirely too long, and the idea that she may have been suffering needlessly makes me very, very sad.

And also I miss her a lot.
Sorry to hear about her passing, but don't feel badly about waiting too long. She died on her own terms, surrounded by those who love her most. May we all be so lucky. You're in my thoughts.

REALLY RIGHT NOW?!?!?!

A dad put his kid in a washing machine and turns it on and it can't be openened. You can see the poor little guy tumbling around inside 😡

And I don't even like kids lol

I hate utility company call centers and call center employees- and the stupid recording they make you listen to for a million years before you can talk to an actual person-and the automated voice-person thing you have to speak to before you can even be put on hold and made to listen to the stupid recording!!!! In sum- I hate it all.

So. I graduated today. They skipped my name.

demand a refund!!!!

That's my dads plan. I actually found it quite hysterical. My 9 family members who had flown in and sat in the hot sun for 3 hours weren't so amused.

haha I can imagine they weren't!

So...I am 9 months out from my cancerous mole removal. It took 9 stitches (3 sq). It has def softened up a bit, but it is still like 2cm across, sort of red, and you can see the track marks from the sutures themselves. I hate it. SOOO ugly. And now it's summer, and I obvi don't want to cover my arms up(well with sunscreen for sure). 🙁 Has anyone else had a scar like that? I've tried the cocoa butter and the ScarAway Sheets...

I suppose I should be happy it's a scar and not cancer, I just wish it would go away.

I've got a nice scar on my face - underneath my left nostril going out into my cheek area. Every suture left a track - it has been there since I was 5 (I'm 26). My brother ran over me with a bicycle. It is a good story, and a permanent guilt trip for my bro. 🙂

So the tracks are normal?? To be honest this was the first time I had ever gotten sutures. The PA kept snapping the suture and pulled super tight. I know it was to relieve tension on the wound, but I was just like...ummm if we did that in vet school I am pretty sure I would be autofailed.

Don't know if it is normal - just know I have them. I used to think my scar was ugly and hated it - but my bf says its cute.

I had sutures in my leg after they did a biopsy when I was 11/12. I ended up having shingles but the doctor said I was young for shingles and wanted to biopsy to be sure. I have a rather circular scar where the biopsy was done and from the shingles themselves. If I look closely I can see little tracks from the sutures. Maybe that is normal...

Biggest scar I've got is a 14 in one with ugly little white polka dots up and down the sides of it from all the sutures. The track marks disappeared after a few years, but the dots are still there. And the scar faded to a brownish color over the years rather than red but I doubt it will ever go away 🙁 If you think your little teeny one is bad, trying going to the beach in a bathing suit with battle scars all over you. Cocoa butter and vitamin E (open up the gel caps) will help keep the scar tissue relatively soft and supple.

My friend has the same thing going with her bro. He was pretending to threaten her with a knife (yes it was as stupid as it sounds, they were very young). When she put her arm out to defend herself he cut the tendon to her thumb. She now has a huge scar going down her arm because the tendon retracted before the surgery and it doesn't bend correctly, but she has him guilted for life!

Ouch. Interesting to know the track marks aren't that rare.

14 inches??? What happened??? 🙁

I know it's not super huge, it's just in that ugly stage and in a place where I always see it. Think that's why it's bothering me so much. Big round ugly red blob. And having people say "Ew what is that, it doesn't look normal" is not helping me out...it's a scar and kept me from developing cancer??

Thanks for sharing your battle wound stories guys. It's nice to know i'm not alone.

Wow...stories like that make me sort of happy i'm an only child? Bikes? Knives??? Geez.

I had a precancerous mole from my back removed, about 5 inches below my neck and it has tracks still. (But I had a reaction to the sutures)

My biggest scar, though, is from having my top lip reconstructed from a dog attack. 😉 It's pretty faint though, you have to know to look for it because the surgeons did an amazing job.

My small rant compared to what some of you are going through:

I still cannot find an apartment that is within my price range and that I am comfortable with. I visited three apartments today, one was WAY too small, one gave me the feeling that I was in an "unsafe" neighborhood, and the manager at the last just gave me the creeps. I am extremely frustrated with this and some roommate problems that I am dealing with right now. The worst part is that I just need to talk to my best friend about this, but he won't answer his phone or reply to my texts. Now, I just want to cry.

I have bubbled scars and old asphalt pigment in my knees. As a kid got into a bike accident going pretty fast. Skinned both knees completely (had to wear shorts for months in the fall/winter). The bubble scars aren't that pronounced anymore and I just have black marks on my knees were asphalt had once been.

I have a huge bubbly pink scar on the very end of my shoulder about an inch across and three inches long (she was a plastic surgeon too... scary) from a skin cancer removal. I personally don't even care about it or let it bother me, and it's big! Use it to look tough instead of hiding from it 😉. Plus... Shouldn't you be staying out of the sun anyway miss precancerous removal?? 😉

I have a tendency to fall a lot, so my knees have huge blotchy scars. The repeated falls sometimes led to ankle sprains, ironically enough, all six are in one ankle. As a result, I have a slight limp.

Recently, I've been having computer problems. The Internet is inconsistent at best and I'm on a friend's old tablet because my laptop doesn't recognize the hard drive anymore...

Needless to say, typing becomes a bear. =/

Hahah keep in mind where I live now, Emiloo. I went out and bought sunscreen today though, don't you worry.

My mom and I were driving somewhere just a little bit ago and saw a bunny dart across the road two cars ahead of us. We both kind of knew what was going to happen. The car tried to stop but hit it. Poor thing didn't die instantly either. 🙁

I get home from the pub and decide to have a few m&m's before chilling in bed on the internets and I fecking chip one of my back teeth on the m&m. WHAT THE FECK?! I mean how does that even happen. So now it feels all out of whack and I don't even have a damn dentist here, so yeah.... at least it is a back tooth so it can wait. 🙁

I told you to lay off the alcohol... 😉

Seriously, that really does suck. Hopefully you can get it fixed soon.

yeah I wish I had been drinking a lot, so at least I would have a good excuse. But seeing as it was poker night I tend not to have too many drinks have to focus on the cards. Yeah really not liking the way my tooth feels now. ugh

BTW love the avatar - puppy is so cute

Eww, scar comparison! Yay! I had a bike accident and a horseback riding accident in the same summer when I was 12/13. 3 days in ICU with road rash to the face plus scars to knees and wrists for the bike accident. Riding bareback in shorts + cutting new riding trails + green horse = scars from inside ankle to mid-thigh from sticker vines.😱

Serious auto accident @ 26 YO resulted in bite all the way through bottom lip, air bags burns to face and back of arms, Lis Franc dislocation of metatarsals in L foot, fractured L ankle, open laceration to L knee, sprained R ankle, slab fracture to R tibia, complete rupture of ACL, partial ruptures of MCL and LCL, tears in the meniscus of both knees. 7-9 surgeries overall with a knee replacement sometime in the far future.:scared:

Then there are the scars that I have accumulated during 10+ years in the vet field.

Next?

Oh, we're playing dirty and going into details?

Osteosarcoma = a dozen surgeries to fix that.
Then I started playing sports and broke lots of fragile bones that had been put back together = partial knee replacement. I thought my doc was going to slap me upside the head when he heard I'd been playing basketball and managed to get myself hit with the damn ball.
Altogether, scars from left ankle up over my shin and across my knee, up the side of my right calf from ankle to just below knee, a smaller one on my left hip (only 3-4 inches, but seriously effing hurt the most - bone marrow aspirates). And lots of pin prick holes from all the metal contraptions that held my bits and pieces of leg together for a while. And a big white circular scar on my boob from a catheter. Ima mess.

And then there all the fun scars. Like the the German shepherd who's owner didnt tell us was terrified of men. Poor dog jumped in my arms when the big male vet walked in, and raked open the side of my arm. Or the English bulldog that was gushing blood from the rectum and latched onto my arm when his owner tried to pet him and tell him it was going to be okay. In HS, my mother used to think I was an emo cutter because my arms were always scratched up from working in the vet hospital.

Surprisingly enough, I don't think I have any scars from horses, although I did crack my zygomatic arch at one point after being slammed in the face by a horse with a big western bit.

I have a circular scar that's about two inches in diameter on the inside of my right calf. I was riding a horse for a friend in a really old saddle and was wearing shorts. I didn't feel anything while riding, but after taking my leg off the saddle after an hour, it stuck to it like glue and ripped off all the skin.

Also have a scar on my butt that's about 12 inches long. 🙁 I was rodeo bucked into a jump and hit the metal jump cup, which just cut right through my pants and skin. Somehow I also managed to hit the top of the standard with my chin - must have twisted in a really weird way. I haven't thought about it before, but I really hope it's not visible when wearing a bikini at the beach next week. 😳 I've had it for about two years now, but haven't been to a pool besides at my house, so I never worried about it before..

You had an osteosarcoma???? 😱 Holy crap! (sorry to be insensitive - just haven't ever met a person with that diagnosis)

I have surgery scars on my abdomen. They totally show when I wear a bikini. I don't care that they show. If people have a problem with my scars then they can piss off. I used to be self-conscious about them but then I realized that other people's opinions about something I couldn't control didn't matter to me. I wear my bikini and I think I look great in it, scars and all.

Thank you my beautiful friends. You are all such amazing, strong people. I just gotta learn to accept my battle wounds and not be so self conscious. 😍

This is a little belated I guess, but thanks for the support, guys. <3 Jeanette was an awesome dog and will be greatly missed, but your words were very comforting. =)

I have worked at the clinic I'm at since 1999. All but like 2 of the staff members are totally unsupportive of my endeavors. They are making my last few months there miserable. I would quite now if I didn't need the money. And it makes me really sad that I can't love my job anymore.

Are they jealous or something?

This is exactly it. You can be self conscious or you can make up cool stories to tell people when they ask. I've pulled the shark attack before as my friends stood by and giggled at the crazy details I made up to the nosey people asking why I don't have the scar "fixed". Have fun with it and consider it a battle wound.

You win Cowgirla.....I can't top osteosarcoma...all I can say is DAMN!😛 I did have an ex-fix from my car accident so couldn't wear pants...in Oct/Nov/Dec...in KY. That sucked! I didn't start working i vet hospitals until I was an adult. It was all horses prior to that...crazy thoroughbreds! Post accident, I was told to leave the horses alone but....well, I am stubborn and they are my heart so I did it anyway but it took a while. Everything went fine.

I was self conscious for a very long time especially since I form keloid scars. I finally decided after the near death experience that I didn't give a rat's ass what other ppl thought. That event also pushed me to start pursuing this dream we all share. I finally believed that I could do this, no matter what others say. Those are the things that make each of us unique and interesting.

Scars from the vet industry are indeed battle wounds...they are something to be proud of.😀

It sounds like bitterness and jealousy to me too. I have worked with ppl like this too, you can either ignore them or confront them. Regardless, just do the best that you can cause soon you will be on a better path...👍

Well farts. I gotta have my gallbladder out. I'm actually a tiny bit relieved. It'll mean some ease to this incessant heartburn.

You know those surgery scars I mentioned above? Yeah those would be from gallbladder surgery. I wasn't supposed to have any scars since it was laparoscopic but I scar super easily. I totally know how you feel. Bile reflux is worse than heartburn IMO. Good luck with your surgery. I hope you react better to the anesthesia than I did.
