Supposed to be leaving at 4 am tomorrow to head to Santa Fe for a long weekend.


Part of the ceiling of my garage just fell in. FML. Called my landlord on her cell almost an hour ago and no call back and I really really hate calling her at work. FML x2

Oh, and I cant get to the dryer full of clean clothes that I need to pack for the trip.
 
Ungrateful bitch mode in 3...2...1

We are driving home to my family's for Thanksgiving. Well, we were supposed to already be driving. I asked my BF two days ago to please get my oil changed while I was in class at some point between yesterday morning and 1pm today.....
He left at 9:30 this morning to have my oil changed... by his cousin...
It is now 3:00... he is still... with his cousin... working on my truck :eyebrow:
They decided to do a tranny flush and blah blah blah and ended up with an incorrect part and no way to get to the store to exchange it. So my truck is currently not driveable, at his cousin's house, and I've been sitting here stewing for 2 hours over wanting to leave. I am trying very very very hard to be grateful that he went to change my oil for me, but why couldn't you just do like I asked and take it to a frickin Jiffy Lube or something?! :boom:

UGH SO ANNOYED!!!! He can literally never do anything without complicating it and screwing it up. I want so badly to not flip out on him for this, hence me coming on here to try and get it out, but I want to just slap him sometimes. :slap:

And I can't even pack the truck up while I'm waiting for him 😡
 
Just found out Landlord is bringing someone to the house TOMORROW to appraise the house. REALLY?!?! The day before Thanksgiving?! 😡😡 My house is a disaster right now. I have furniture willy nilly all over the place(bought new stuff, selling old stuff). I have clothes EVERYWHERE(same as furniture). My kitchen is gross. All my floors need to be swept and washed. And I have to leave for work in 1.5 hours. Looks like it will be a long night after work tonight. 🙁 Why can't he just do this next week?

And I don't know what he's getting it appraised for. I hope he's not selling. He knows I want to be here for another 4 years.

*sigh*
 
That awkward moment when you realize your flight leaves two hours earlier than you thought it did.

Well, at least I realized it the night before, but I was looking forward to not having to leave at the absolute butt crack of dawn.
 
The clinic cat at my cats' vet died today 🙁 🙁 🙁:cry::cry:She was only 7 years old. I'm pretty upset, I loved that cat like my own. The owner of the clinic is amazing and if I can be half the vet she is I'll be proud of myself. Peach was the best cat and will be missed by all. People used to stop by the clinic just to visit her, even people who didn't have pets. My thoughts are with the clinic staff and all who loved Peach.

Wow, that's quite the avid reading to get to my rant about the crappiest post-doc in the world from maybe 4 years ago! Last I knew, idiot PhD took a second postdoc at another world renown institution. Have no idea what happened to her since. I wouldn't be surprised if she needed to take a 3rd postdoc...
 
Today is going to be a bummer at the zoo. We're more than likely putting down our pygmy goat 🙁. She's only 4 and really sweet, so it's a big bummer. No real idea what's wrong with her at the moment, she's been up to Tufts but they couldn't figure it out either. We are not having good luck with the petting zoo... Up until 2 months ago we had three llamas and two goats. Now we're going to be down to one llama and one goat. We have terrible luck.
 
My Diet Coke bottle apparently had a lot of pressure... Opened it in the middle of class and it made a nice loud, squeaky noise.

Couldn't get away from all the sick people around me. Felt good enough this morning, so I went to the swine farm to help with the research pigs.

Currently laying in there office because I feel like crap. And have 4 days of work left this week. Ugh.
 
My boyfriend and I have been together 3 years. He and his parents are driving me nuts about Thanksgiving. They want my parents to come for dinner and my parents have politely told them no. My parents are not social people and as a family we've had a lot of crappy things happen this year so they are looking forward to having a day off work, spent quietly at home. I'm going with my boyfriend to his parents for Thanksgiving but every day he's like "why aren't your parents coming, they need to hang out with my parents". Um why do they need to hang out with your parents? Then last night his mom sends an email inviting my parents and I even after my boyfriend told her that my parents will not be coming. I don't know why this is bothering me so much, I just find it rude that they can't accept no for an answer. And that will be the first question I get "why didn't your parents come" (followed by "how come you're not in vet school yet" - don't even get me started on that). Is it bad I want to spend Thanksgiving curled up on the couch with a good book by myself?

Unbelievable the lives you can live.

And anything I watch is via DVR anything, so I would never actually see said annoying commercial.

I have very basic cable because I really don't have much time to watch TV. But I have the news on in the background when I'm getting ready in the morning or studying, etc.

Don't judge :laugh: Just be thankful you haven't seen the commercial!
 
So the shower filled with water last night when we ran the washing machine. We got a plumber today, who ran a camera through the pipes and found tree roots in the pipe between the house and the city sewer, and also all though the city sewer pipes. So, not only does the line from the house to the city pipes need to be replaced...which can't happen until next week because the permits have to be filed and the city permit offices are closed until Monday...but the city pipes need to be cleared or this is just going to happen again sometime soon. The plumber told us that people on our street have been trying to get the city to come clear the pipes for weeks, and the city has done nothing. And since the city offices are closed for the holiday, we can't even call to add our request that they come clear the pipes until Monday, so even if they magically decide to listen to us, it won't happen until Tuesday at the earliest.
The plumber suggested we try to not use the toilets much until the problem gets solved. Great.
 
I'm really stressed about my new job. I LOVE it and it's so amazing, but I'm worried they're going to let me go... They hired me because they were bringing on another doctor and expanding hours and I was originally told I was only going to be working ~15 hours a week. Now it sounds like they need someone for way more. They also hired me to work Tuesday nights and Saturdays specifically since those were the extended hour days. I explained when they hired me that my schedule was going to change for next semester and I wasn't sure what it was going to be. Of course I have to take a genetics class for vet school Tues evenings and can't work the late hours. I think they are willing to make it work, but it's just really stressing me out. Plus I've been having to ask for days off for interviews and now I'm nervous to get more because I'll likely have to ask for more days off. Hopefully it'll work out, but I would be SO disappointed if they let me go because of it.
 
i tried to upload pictures to my blog tonight and it told me i couldn't because i was at Google's 1 GB limit:cry: my roommate just got a kitten too!!! i wanna share :cry: 🙁
 
Stupid effin' tree is too wide. May have to get a much smaller tree. 🙁

Also, crazy hell Thanksgiving work schedule starts in T-12 hours.
 
I feel miserable. I'm really trying to get through all 4 workdays but I feel horrible. Huge headache, nauseous, can barely eat which makes me even more nauseous,... Gonna see how today goes but might have to take tomorrow off. That screws up my Christmas plans, but oh well. I just want to crawl into a hole and get better.

I don't know what it'd be from though. I pretty much ate the same thing the last few days. Ramen and oatmeal. :laugh: My roommate has pretty much the same thing and we don't eat together.

Aww that sucks!! Sounds like you need to go home and try to sleep it off!! Feel better soon ! :luck: :xf:
 
I can't sleep though. Was up for hours during the night.
 
With some sleeping pills, you can take 1/2 a one. I find plain old Melatonin pills help me STAY asleep. Otherwise, I wake up every 2 hours. They help me stay asleep for about 5 hours.

In public health we learned that a lot of food borne pathogens actually take a bit longer to "kick in"- people don't realize its food poisoning because whatever they ate within the last few days was fine. Feel better 🙁

Jmo, I'm directing this question to you but anyone who has an idea feel free to chime in 🙂

I found a worm in my guinea pig's cage this morning! I've never seen anything like it. I noticed her water bottle was leaking a little and the worm was by the moist area. I only saw 1. It was the length of a piece of rice and it was a perfect cylindrical shape (not flattish like a tape worm). It was a taupe clearish color with a darker area (almost black) on it.

Anyone have any idea what it could be????

Maggot? Best bet is to take her to the vet and hopefully you saved the worm so that you can show that to them too... that way they will be able to tell what it is.

I couldn't find any on her and she seemed her usual self. I also couldn't find any more in her cage. Her vet is closed until Monday so I'll keep an eye out and get her in next week. Really gross!

And now I will be constantly poking around my guinea pig's cage to make sure he doesn't have any...

I kind of need to take him to the vet anyway though, just for a normal check up. I got him from someone else and I don't know if he's ever seen a vet.

I'm not sure if mine has ever seen a vet either. She's a senior and I got her from a family who no longer wanted her about a year and a half ago. I'm thinking a maggot makes sense. Every so often I get a few flies in the house through the dog door and I remember 2 of them a couple days ago. It would make sense for them to lay an egg somewhere moist, right? I'm going to get her a new water bottle for sure. But then again why was there only 1???
 
My 6mo old best kitten ever that I've had since she was a day old threw a saddle thrombus this morning and I had to put her down. I've never been so devastated... after a string of really bad luck with kittens this summer I was so happy to have one that wasn't dying. I just.... I don't know what to do with myself. This hurts so bad.
