RANT HERE thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Please excuse me while I rant . . .

I have a Livejournal account, which is visible only to a small group of internet friends. Last night I posted a rather strongly worded entry detailing my opinions on a very controversial subject. I disabled comments on the post and made it clear that I did not want to become involved in a debate, I just wanted to share my opinion and maybe encourage a few people to think a little differently about the topic. I think that's a perfectly acceptable request.

Well, apparently I forgot to change the security of the post to "friends only" and accidentally posted it publicly. And apparently that makes it okay for someone who is NOT my friend (someone I actually de-friended after she and her friends were unbelievably disrespectful to me during a debate on the same topic) to copy and paste my exact entry to her journal and bash everything I said behind my back. Even worse, my supposed "friends" joined in on the bashing! I wouldn't have known about it at all if it weren't for a kindly friend who informed me that I was being made to look a fool without my knowledge.

Apparently it's a crime to have an opinion that differs from that of someone else, and that makes it perfectly okay to mock everything you say.

Worst part is, I've shared intimate details of my life with these people. People who apparently have absolutely zero respect for my privacy or my opinions. So now I'm deleting everything out of my journal, because there's no way in hell I'm going to continue sharing personal information with these people.

:boom:

I learned my lesson about sharing my feelings online the hard way too. (This was back when everyone was on MySpace and hardly anyone had Facebook). Anyway I posted some not so nice things about some really stupid people and it came back to bite me in the butt. I sympathize with you. People are cruel and it seems like no one can have their own opinion without being wrong. At least someone told you what was going on.

And thus lies my loss of faith in the human race and lack of trust of anybody. Has happened, in one way or form, on way too many an occasion.

Agree with both of you. It just sucks because these were all people who claim to be so "open minded" and "educated". More, importantly, they were people who claimed to be my friends. And it was rather cathartic to be able to post about what was going on in my life and receive people's thoughts and advice in return. Not really inclined to do that anymore though.

Oh well, an old fashioned pen and paper journal may not be able to give me any feedback, but at least it will keep it's mouth shut when it's supposed to!

My friend is mad at me for unfriending another friend on Facebook.

1) It is goddamn f-ing Facebook. Get a life.

2) A real friend makes an effort to spend time with you and see you. A real friend does not go on a FBI hiatus and does not refuse to tell you if she is coming back to the area for a visit. Basically I have not seen or communicated with this friend for 2 years. I only know when she is coming home because she posts photos on Instagram of her on the highway. My last effort to contact her went ignored.

3) I can unfriend whoever I want. Facebook is not a cult or a religion with rules on who I can friend and unfriend.

I think a Hiatus is in order.
I like Instagram better anyway.
I got a free macaroon because of Instagram.
I never received any free food on Facebook.
Unfortunately, looking at hipster pictures uses more data than Facebook.

I've had similar problems on Facebook. People are so wrapped up in social media, they've forgotten how to have real social interactions with real people. 🙄

How did you get a free macaroon from Instagram? I want a macaroon!

My laptop was running slower today so I shut it down for a few hours to give it a break. When I went to turn it on nothing happened. The power button is lit up but the hard drive isn't starting up and the screen is blank. I really can't afford a new computer right now.

Sick... Fever, congestion, sore throat, etc :d :d

:xf: that this passes quickly... don't want to be sick for my entire break.

Hope you feel better soon. I've been having a little sinus pressure and pain and am just leaving the doctor. Apparently I've been harboring a massive sinus infection. Oops! 😳
Also hoping it clears up soon. :xf:

I hope both of you feel better. That would suck to be sick over break.

A local raw food booth at the market started following me after I commented that their pad Thai looked delicious. Then I told them I was eating their spaghetti when I decided to go vegan. The next time I was in, I asked for their pad Thai and commented that I did not get to try it because they were out last time. The guy said "Did you just go vegan recently?" I asked, "Do you know me from Instagram?" And he gave me and my friend a free macaroon each! Raspberry and blueberry... mmm.

He then told me to try nutritional yeast and chilli powder on popcorn. It was nommy cheesy spicy goodness.

3 Rejections in 1 week...getting pessimistic about my last 2 choices (Tufts and Virginia-Maryland). Oh it doesn't help anything when I tell my mom and all she has to say is, "You should have studied more if your GPA isn't good enough! Guess you didn't work hard enough...". Yes mother, clearly going to school full time as a double major, working 2 part time jobs, and commuting an hour isn't working too hard. Such a bummer week this has been.

Y'all I'm trying SO hard to keep my cool with this FV90 chick. Dear LORD help me! :bang:

I commend you on how well you're doing. It's not easy, that's for sure. 🙄

Minor rant: Cases for phones cost way too freaking much for the quality you get. I spent $40 on what I thought was a decent case for my iPhone two months ago, and it's already falling apart. Off to shop for a new one! 😡

Yeah, I've been frustrated in general lately at how cheaply made, yet expensive everything is. Even vehicles now-a-days are like little plastic boxes with really expensive, difficult to fix computer dashboards. :annoyed:

I generally sit and read reviews or go by word of mouth. I've heard the Lifeproof cases are nice for iPhones cause they're also waterproof. I don't like them because you have to press harder for the touchscreen to realize anything because the case has a plastic that covers the screen. Not sure which case you have though. I also have the SIII, so I don't have personal experiences with iPhones. Love the case I have though. Dropped my phone screen side down on the sidewalk and it didn't crack. I considered and Otterbox for it, but the phone is already large enough and I didn't want to make it bigger.

ETA: Although, they seem to be coming out with them for the SIII so I might cave since the touchscreen aspect is a minor flaw if it protects against everything it says it does.

Yeah, I think I'll have to suck it up and take a serious look at the Lifeproof and Otterbox cases. I've heard a lot of good things as well about them. Making the phone too chunky is what I'm worried about, however it's probably worth it considering the price of the phone.

I felt Speck was a reputable case manufacturer, but the inlaid fabric cases are crap apparently. The fabric frays and separates from the case despite super glue. This is what I have now, buyer beware. 👎

I love my otterbox. got my first one ages ago with the iPod classic, and have had one for both of my iPhones.

if the box breaks or is damaged in any way, they replace it free of charge and QUICKLY

for my old iPod, the wheel part of the case got smushed by a horse. and they still replaced it.

it's bulky but totally worth it. and the texture makes it way less likely to just slip out of my hands

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my otterbox. They have some really cute designs now, that aren't as nearly as clunky as some of the super heavy duty ones but provide pretty good protection. My phone's been dropped like several times, and it's been totally fine. Only way I could really see my phone getting damaged is if I dropped it screen side down on a rock or something, or hurled it at a concrete wall. The rubber rim on the screen side does provide quite a bit of protection for what it is though. I've had my phone for a year, and I haven't even had to change the screen protector yet. One little scratch from my keys and that's about all it's suffered in the past year.

Only con is that the flexible rubber going around the phone makes it easier for cat fur to get lodged in there, but I guess it only reminds me of my sweet kitty cat...

People who insist on posting their GPA on FB. :slap:

They aren't even in my class and it's pissing me off.

And to go along with that, I was ~.6pts (Possibly slightlyyyy less if I did better on the quizzes than my random guess of 50%) away from the grade I wanted in ophtho. Bah humbug. The syllabus says she doesn't round anyway.

Haaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahhaahahahahaha who does that?
I did run into a douchebag first-year last year who claimed to me halfway through his first semester that he was aiming to set a record high GPA of all times. He probably does that.

Ugh I saw that. "I don't care if it pisses anyone off- I got a 4.0!" Well good for you, you want a cookie? He is so full of himself anyway.

I have a Switcheasy case, and I had one in my 3S. Haven't ever broken a phone, and they hold up great. Give 'me a look. They are less clunky than otterbox too. I think mine is called the 'Glitz' or something.

There's a girl who got into multiple schools and when asked if that's normal and how she did it she replied: "well I think it was my 3.993 GPA not to mention I think I got great letters of recommendation. Oh and I had really good GRE scores."

Vomit. I was in this girl's sheep management class, and watching her try to give a vaccine was humorous.

Ugh. We have a few in our class like that. They've pissed off a lot of people that way.

So I'm kind of annoyed. I had emailed the clinic I work at back before Thanksgiving break saying I'd be home during that time and the dates in December when I'd be home so that I can work. I had to send another email after break to see if they wanted me for December at all which they said they could use me PT. That was like two weeks ago. Still don't have my work schedule which means I can't really give a work schedule to the equine practice I work at a few times a week too. I even called today and left a message asking for my schedule with the message I left telling them to call me instead of the house phone when our dog's meds were ready. I got a call back saying they hadn't received a request for the meds (my mom said she called the other day) but no schedule. I'm hoping to hear something by tomorrow at the latest when his meds should be ready, but if I don't, it kind of makes me not want to go back.

Just read that a winter storm is supposed to be rolling through Wednesday to Thursday... 5 to 8 inches of snow expected with near blizzard conditions. Ugh. :xf: that the forecast doesn't change again (unless it's for less snow).

We Tested out my friends life proof box by placing it a cup of water... He later threw it up against a wall and it never had any problems lol

I'm the opposite. I'm really hoping for snow so my dog can be in it one more time, except only enough that he is able to stick his head in it that way he likes too. However, the downside of that is the slipperiness, which wouldn't help out his balance issues...🙁

Had to do two sulfur lime "dips" today.... (why are they called dips if you don't actually dip them in something? Lol always wondered that)... And I get home and shower and I can still smell it. Bleh !! I hate that stuff.

Prob has to do with the fact that when you "dip" large animals, you seriously make them wade through a bath of whatever nasty chemical you want them to go in.

I was in a situation where I needed to mass lim sulfur dip a bunch of cats, so I did actually try the dipping method, at least to get the body done and it soooo did not work. Ended up taking advice from shelter med people to use a pressure soaker instead. I forgot to take off my favorite silver necklace and it turned completely black... 🙁 (but with toothpaste and sonicator, it's as good as new!) I still have the scrubs I wore that day (maybe 4 yrs ago), and even after a few washes it still smells.

got my grades today.

One of my professors only gave me half credit on a problem because I forgot the percentage sign. Those extra points would've given me a B in the class.

A-hole.
the best part? I have him again for another class next semester :boom:

I have the same case that Minnerbell posted... except that I got it for $20 on eBay. No box and the rubber pops off in weird places. It was better than paying $60+ for the same thing at the time.

I bought a $25 metal case before that. I dropped it in a garage. It dented and scraped one corner and scraped two parts of the lip on the side of my 3 month old phone. I was not impressed. So I got the Otterbox.

Started a new pill and now all I want to do is vomit everywhere.

Been there ... pretty much no pill that contains estrogen agrees with me. Non-hormonal IUD (Paraguard) is my God-send!! 🙄

Yep and this is the highest estrogen dose on the market apparently lol. No tapering either, all 21 have the same amount. We'll see how it goes. Then I had to add high dose amoxi (bleh) today and start new thyroid medication so my body is just not happy with me right meow.

Bleh. That sucks. I was worried about that when I switched pills like a year ago. I'm still on a pretty low dose so it probably wasn't going to be an issue. However, I'm still having other issues with it but was told to stick it out and see if they resolve since they might finally be. Plus, it's free now due to my school insurance, so that makes me not want to switch either.

Hoping it only last a short time while your body adjusts to it!

I will have to check Paraguard out! I can't take anything with Estrogen in it. I have too many migraines and hormonal issues as it is. Haven't been able to find anything that works without causing problems.

It's amazing how differently everyone's bodies react to the same thing.

My personal trainer pointed out that I have scoliosis tonight. I never knew I had it. My mother made a mean "you have a hunch back like your grandmother" a few years ago so I have been really self-conscious about how I stand. I wonder if she knew. I am just still a little in shock that someone pointed it out to me mid-push-up. I really hope it is nothing serious. I do not think it is anything serious, but I have had problems with my nerves the last couple of years. A lower back x-ray showed nothing of course because its the top of my spine. Hmm.

I got mine checked in Germany. The doc told me it doesn't count as scoliosis because they only consider it if there is a 10% difference at least from the "normal." Mine was 9.8%. Seriously? I just told you that I spent the last 4 days in bed because I just couldn't stand or sit because I was in such extreme pain from my back (was worried I'd have to miss my flight back to the US) and you're telling me it's nothing? The same thing has happened before while in the US. But nothing is wrong?

I have terrible scoliosis and I think PP could chime in on this too. I have terrible problems with my back, but if its not affecting you then it's really nothing to worry about. Lots of people have varying degrees of it and some get along perfectly fine. It has more to do with the lateral curvature of your spine than the hypoextension you described. That's kyphosis. I have that too :uhno: 🙄

I have no idea what I have. I was told I had a little bit in high school by a doctor doing a PE for sports. Apparently I curve the right slightly. But my lower back also curves inward a good bit. It doesn't touch the floor when I'm laying on the ground and I have to really concentrate if on it if I want it too. Makes a good bit of ab exercises painful and then I have to modify them. I also hunch over a bit but try to correct myself when I notice it. Someone once told me that a lot of swimmers end up hunched over, but I'm not sure if that's an accurate or not.
