It sure doesn't take much. Especially with the small ones like chi's and weiners!!! 😡

This was a weiner something. It's weird looking, but pretty cute. I feel like such an idiot though. Totally did not think it was going to bite me. Had it on it's side for a nail trim, let up on it's neck/chin just a little because it was turning blue. And then it was attached to my hand. We cut a nail too short so we both were dripping blood all over.

I have somehow dodged the small dog bites... have been bit twice by big dogs and twice by cats.

One of the dogs bit me through the muzzle.. caught my thumb and caused me to lose my nail a few weeks later. 😡

I hope your hand feels better soon! Bites can hurt.

ugh, I have the same problem. My dad owns a small business too. It's frustrating to report the gross income while in reality we don't really have that much at our disposal because of the business. Too "rich" to get government help, but too poor to actually pay for school. sucks.

I know it's different for undergrad, but for graduate school (aka veterinary school) you can get the money you need regardless of income.

We're having the national pre vet symposium here tomorrow with over 700 pre vet students registered. The school is a mad house and both 2015 and 2016 have 3 finals this coming week.

Anyway, I was walking out of anatomy lab today and said to my classmate "it's gonna be freakin insane here tomorrow".... JUST as our dean came around the corner and shot me with her eyeball death rays. The dean who day 1 of orientation gave us a speech about being professional and watching our language
She felt the need to make me feel worse by killing me with kindness. Man I felt so badly. 🙁

And we just found out an animal activist group is protesting on campus tomorrow... that will get interesting.
Security will have to escort us into anatomy with our badges and our library is the main gathering area for the symposium so no studying there. Well played vet school.

Our spring break started today...I was going to leave at noon for my 4.5 hour trip home, but I realized that my on campus job didn't start "spring break" rotations until tomorrow, and I have to work tonight. I went looking for a sub for 5:30 to 8. I got one from 5:30 to 6 and from 7 to 8. Now I'm staying late for one hour of work that no one wanted and making about 7 bucks... 🙁 Plus, I feel like crap after the nap I took this afternoon and am probably just sleeping here tonight and going home in the morning. I just want to see my family and pets!

Yeah, you're considered independent for vet school, the only reason you need to put your parents' info is for HPSL if your school offers that. Otherwise your EFC is just your own.

Got my first dog bite yesterday and it is all red and swollen and painful today. Trip to the Dr. it is! It wasn't even a bad bite.

You're lucky! I've worked with dogs for over 4 years and got bitten for the first time this past September (about a week and a half before the VMCAS app was due, because I wasn't stressed enough already 😉). Anywho, it came out of nowhere (dog had been at the hospital a few days and had not been aggressive at all. but this happened when I took her in to visit her owners, so we are thinking she may have been a bit owner aggressive) and the dog (a German Shepherd) lunged at my face. I ended up with 15 stitches on my nose and above my lip. It was a pretty terrible first dog bite haha. Oh well, go big or go home, right? Also, I am completely aware of how lucky I am that it wasn't more serious (like if she had gotten my eye or my neck instead!). 😱

Our open house is tomorrow and PETA will be on main campus. We are hoping that we don't have any issues or anything. It would be silly because open house is mostly for the public - we have an auction to raise money for helping the injured wildlife that the hospital sees, stuff like that.

So when you texted me at 10 asking if I had my rent, I figured I should bite the bullet and get dressed and be ready to give you rent money.

My jaw had started to hurt on Wednesday. I couldn't open it very far and couldn't close it all the way because it feels like my teeth don't fit together anymore. It has progressively gotten worse. It hurts so bad it woke me up last night. I can barely open my right now at all. Luckily Advil seems to take the edge off but with how much I've been taking my liver might give out on me... And I no longer have insurance as of this month so not sure what I can do about this.

Lol yeah I have a pretty bad one myself (kind of happens when you've been with a sailor for 5 years 😉 ). And I wouldn't have even thought twice if it weren't for her lecture on cursing during orientation. Oh, and the death stare she shot me 🙄

Blocked and deleted F from Facebook. I added old friend B back to Facebook because I thought we were cool after meeting up last week.

B decided to share my status updates and photos with F.

I found this out when F texted me about the status update. When I told her to leave me alone, she told me I had a beautiful cat.

When I confronted B, she gave me some dumb excuse about being depressed today. I told her I wanted to know so that I didn't have to go and delete all 32 of F and I's mutual facebook friends. She admitted she did it, said I was a lesser person, and then told me I take unfriending people too seriously.

So, I was being bombarded by two drama queens who hate my guts via tex message about something I said on Facebook. I had F blocked for a reason. I wanted absolutely nothing to do with her and do not want her a part of my life.

I did the adult thing: told them to F off and deleted their messages.

Seriously. When did I go back to junior high? Am I really 13 years old? Is this being an adult thing all just a dream? Do I really have to go to my cell phone provider and start phone blocking numbers?

I am tired if this crap.

I was on my way to the farmers market, happy as a clam, until F texted me. It was just not how I envisioned my weekend off. Oh well. On to bigger and better things. Like lunch.

I am absolutely astounded at how awful my English class is this quarter. Awful! I'm sure my GPA is going to take a small hit just because of how much I loathe this class. Ugh. At least it's "just English" right?

Abney, you can go to the ER without insurance, or if there's a State teaching hospital in your area, you can go there without insurance. If you're not sure, the ER is your best bet.

How about Urgent Care Centers? This was an option I found out very recently when my SO had a really bad foot ache (which turned out to be an infection without an open wound...) and didn't want to go to the ER. We yelped/googled several Urgent Care centers in our area and went straight there. Not many people were waiting and we were basically out within 20 minutes and the doctor was spot on--bacterial infection and gave him antibiotics and a shot; he was better in a week. I think the co-pay was 20 bucks and the meds were separate but about 20 bucks as well. Just another option that seems affordable but lesser known!

Don't worry. 😎Theoretically, anyone residing in the USA, legally or illegally, can go to the ER if they don't have insurance, don't have an income or much of one, and most, if not all costs, will be absorbed. The ER cannot turn you away. It's a technicality one doesn't want to rely on, but it's good to know when there's no other viable options. One of our country's biggest costs and losses that are debated endlessly, is this very practice. That's one of the reasons for Obamacare, and why the current system costs taxpayers and government millions.

The moving-out-roommate is pissing me off! Because of the short notice of moving out he agreed to pay 1/2 of the March rent, which is due on the 6th, Wednesday. He came back today to move some more stuff, so I asked him if he had the money. No. 😡 He got paid on Saturday and bank isn't open today and there isn't that bank down where he will be living.

Ok, so I offered to deposit his check for him(they will let anyone deposit into your account, just not withdraw), and told him he could write a check for the amount to the landlord and it wouldn't get cashed until after Wednesday. I would put his paycheck in on Monday. Nope, apparently he 'doesn't feel comfortable doing that'. 😕

Then he said, 'well, I have $80 with me right now, you could have that'. Great, at least it's something. So, he walks out the door with his last load for the day and then leaves!! Without giving me the money.

Now I have to pay full rent so it is on time. I needed that other 1/2 to replace my tires that are very very bad. He won't be back in town until 2 weeks from now.

I wish we had a Firestone. 🙁 I like them. I live in a town of 5,000 people. Closest larger town is 45 minutes away. ie The Boonies. I think I've got it figured out now. Waiting for the shop to open tomorrow so I can talk to them. It just sucks. But I'll get over it.

RANT: bf blew out his winter tires last night on his way to my house. I allowed him to drive me to the clinic for work today and use my car since he had to go to work at the office. Well, it's a blizzard outside and he crashed my car. 🙁🙁🙁

He's ok and will pay for the repairs. Hopefully it's just the front bumper that's ruined 🙁. But I'm still out of a car for at least a week. Freaking sucks.....👎

An hour before the end of my shift we had a dog come in that had started acting strange and had become acutely ataxic. The doctor examined him and did a quick ultrasound. He had pericardial effusion. As the doctor was setting up to do a tap, the dog went agonal. The dog then arrested. We ran a code and got him back and the doctor did a blind tap (success!). The doctor found a very large heart-based mass on ultrasound. The dog arrested again. CPR was again successful. The owners came in to visit. The dog arrested again. This time we let him go per their request. And though it was a poor prognosis from the start, it was still a heartbreaking way to end my work week. 🙁
