Just found out that my cousin and his wife - who already have five kids (two from her previous marriage and three of their own) that they can't afford to care for without constant help from my aunt and uncle - are now having yet another baby. They're already incredibly ungrateful towards my aunt and uncle, and no doubt they're going to expect them to feed and clothe this baby just like all the others. Not to mention that all three of the children they have had together have serious health and development issues. Someone seriously needs to slap some sense into them.

That's it. I'm buying them a box of condoms for Christmas.

I hear you, orca. Our bulldog Baby was always incredibly dog reactive. We lived in a rural area, where people tended to let their dogs off-leash. My two were always on leash. I couldn't tell you how many times happy bouncy dogs would come bounding up to Baby with the owner yelling, "It's okay! They're friendly!" Yes, but mine isn't. 🙄 And of course, being a bulldog made her difficult to muzzle - if we found a muzzle that fit enough that she couldn't get it off, it usually meant she couldn't really breathe properly. 🙁

He's totally fine off leash. He'll sniff the dog and then go on his way. Doesn't know how to play, so I watch him closely if there are super bouncy dogs around. And he'll even be fine on leash, once you get him to focus, calm down and be around the dog for a few minutes. I've been trying to work on it with him, but I feel like I keep having set backs. Today was the first time he reacted when in the vet hospital...he's usually fine in buildings, so I just keep feeling like I'm failing at it.

I'm going to be cooped up in this house ALL weekend. Probably going to miss both poker days AND my bingo. I hate you weather! Lots of snow + sheer ice underneath + crutches = baaaaad news. Makes for a very sad WS.

(we shall see if my neighbors step up and clear my sidewalk. It took them ELEVEN weeks to think to come over and see if my dog wanted to go for a walk. :smack: )

Apparently my car is so dead it can't even jump. I thought it was supposed to recharge when I drive since it's a hybrid--how is it even dead??? (NOBODY ANSWER THAT) So it can't get fixed until the weekend when my parents can come up to help me deal with this. Also I am woefully unprepared for all my finals. And I hate everything.

That's one of the downsides of hybrids. Battery problems that are expensive and batteries that are very expensive to replace, and harmful to the environment when destroyed.

Sometimes my parents just really piss me off. I've been asking them to pick up dog food for me for 3 days! Each time it's, "I forgot" or "I didn't have time". I have 1.5 days left of dog food and we are in a blizzard warning tonight. My mom texts me this morning, "I'll get your dog food this afternoon before heading home". Fine. Dad calls me just now, he's at the store and they are out of what I need. I ask him if he could please go 1 mile up the road to the other store that has some right now. "Well, mom and I really need to get home before this wind picks up. It will have to wait until tomorrow."

REALLY?!?!?! Are you effin' kidding me?! It would have taken you less than TEN more minutes! @#($^&#@($&^!#)*$& They likely will not be able to make it out of their driveway tomorrow. :bang:

I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS. Not that I actually chose what car I got, since I just wound up with my dad's old one (and not that I probably would have picked something really different anyway).

I already have four major assignments due Friday (one of which will take 20+ hrs), and then our hiking teacher/coach emails us this morning to remind of us our essay. Also due Friday. For PE. Our fourth PE essay. On hiking. Due Friday.

Seriously loathing my school's admin right now. They hired this new Athletic Director two years ago, a former Olympian, who decided we weren't taking PE seriously enough. WE'RE A TECH SCHOOL. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A FOOTBALL TEAM. WE WON OUR FIRST BASKETBALL CONFERENCE GAME IN 26 YEARS TWO YEARS AGO. We don't recruit for sports, no one goes to IM games, and the vast majority of us were major introverted nerds in high school who were always picked last in gym class. Of course we're not going to take PE "seriously enough." So why the eff would you add more stringent pass requirements, including a midterm+final or major project, quizzes, and homework to every single PE class, when we already have to take 3 terms of PE to graduate?

Just can't believe that I had plenty of work to worry about this week already, and then a PE essay comes along to break the camel's back. Did anyone else's undergrad school have PE requirements?

I am confused here..... is it your dog and your sidewalk? why should the neighbours be responsible for taking your dog for a walk or clearing off your sidewalk? Doesn't make much sense.... I know you had surgery, but if you for some reason cannot do those things yourself you need to hire someone to do them for you not expect your neighbours to do it - when it is clearly not their responsibility.... unless of course it is their dog and their sidewalk and I am missing something....

No, but I have heard of it before. From what I've heard, it's usually done as a freshman year gen ed requirement. More of a "get off your butt, blow off some stress, make some new friends, avoid the freshman 15" kind of thing. 3 terms seems a little excessive.

That said, I personally would have been thrilled to get credits and a little gpa boost from a PE course. But that's just me. I did take a 2-credit sea kayaking course my senior year just for fun, and it was a blast. 😀

My undergrad didn't have any PE requirements (as far as I know) but I took a 1-credit PE class every semester anyway--because that's what my riding lessons were!

Yes...and no. At my undergrad you had to take (at least) two 1-hour Kinesiology courses, KINE 198 and KINE 199. One was just some kind of physical activity and the other is a physical activity + lecture (over health in general). There were a buttload of choices back when I was a student. Running, walking, all kinds of sports, self defense, yoga, a bajillion types of dancing, swimming, frisbee, canoeing, fencing, bowling, etc. I took yoga for my 198 and archery for my 199. Archery was ballaaa.

At my undergrad there was a mandatory swim test in order to graduate. Everyone takes it during Freshmen orientation unless you don't know how to swim in which case beginner's swimming is one of your two mandatory PE classes.

I forgot to say that they said they would, 12 weeks ago, when this happened. The dog thing didn't happen, even though the kids were clearly excited about being able to walk her "everyday"(though, I wasn't expecting that to happen everyday). Which is why I'm not holding my breath when it comes to my sidewalk. 👍

Dear landlord,
Thank you for parking a giant trailer directly behind my car and then leaving. I don't have a final in an hour or anything. 😡

Oh no! Do you need a pick up? PM me if you do!

They *should* be here in about 5 minutes. If not, you may be hearing from me...thanks coquette! 🙂

Beware the wrath of a stressed, hungry, and delayed vet student.

LOVE it when you're updating some software on your computer because it keeps crashing and in the middle of the software update to a newer version the installation crashes!!! :bang:
I hate technology

Something I really hate about myself is how I procrastinate things that are simple and easy just because. If I did half the things I was supposed to do in a timely fashion, my life would be better. Current exhibit: needing transcripts to submit for a rotation. They aren't due by any set date but I'd like them sooner rather than later. But now that it's busy/the end of the semester they won't be sending them out any time soon. (Also, $30 to send them to the US but you won't release them to me and I'm going to need you to send two of them?....AAAGHH. They had better offer certified delivery because it takes weeks to get sht to the US.)

I briefly went to work today because I needed to pick up some food for the cats. Apparently, my luck with medical issues has extended to my patients. One of my favorite client's dogs was diagnosed with amelanotic melanoma (oral) based on the biopsy I submitted before going on medical leave. She just lost her ferret, too. I just wish I could do something for her.

My mom just told me that my grandpa is going into surgery tomorrow since he apparently has a 91% GI block of some sort. She didn't really give me any more specifics than that, but it's definitely not the type of news I wanted to hear.

I hope he does well, orca. Sorry you found out that way

I think she's trying to not make me worried with exams and stuff, but obviously family is more important than exams. And supposedly surgery was supposed to be Saturday and she was going to fly to FL tomorrow, but they moved it up a day. Hoping it goes well too, but his age definitely makes me more nervous.

Someone, somewhere, made a typo on someone's I-9 and I received an email from Immigration basically saying that I may not able to work in this country and can contest. After two hours of phone calls I was told that my info does not match what is on the forms so I should just disregard the email, keep calm, and carry on... Seriously?! How many [email protected]'s are there? I was so upset last night that I ate fast food 😳

I just discovered a hit on my blog from someone who googled: "watch poop come out". I feel dirty now. 🙁

Not a rant, but just a sad. Someone's house was on fire down the street from me. No idea whose(yet), all I could see was the smoke and all the trucks going by. I hope it wasn't too big and it's repairable!

2 more trucks and another squad car and WAY more smoke. I think it's bad. 🙁 I really hope no one was hurt.

I'm losing my bird (to PDD) and there is nothing more that I can do. I'm so terrified.....she is my heart. 🙁

i want to say there's been some luck with things like celebrex? worth asking your vet about since there have been some improvements to patient care recently.

Very sorry you are going through this.

Hi dyachei,

She is on Celebrex now but I'm afraid it is just the disease progression. She was a owner release to my vet clinic and I couldn't resist. She was about 5 months old then. She is almost 3YO now. I know that I am lucky to get her to here with medical management but having to make that decision is killing me. I lost a guinea pig a little over 2 weeks ago and now my 8YO ridgeback is having a bone related issue and I am waiting for his verdict.

sounds like you're having a tough time right now. Wishing you and your critters the best.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you letting me get it out.

SOV, I'm sorry. I have been watching what your furbaby is going through.

TooLove, I'm sorry that anyone has to experience that loss. We have a client that lost her CAG to DI and she said she would never have another animal that could talk to her.

Thanks dyachei. Add in waiting for vet school decisions and the stress is just horrid. This is my fourth and final application and I already have 2 rejections (4 to go).
