Glad I'm not alone. Message me whenever you want to have a mutual vent fest
Same to you!

Um if this is recent, could it be early dementia or something? That seems like a really odd conclusion to come to suddenly...Speaking of ridiculous family members, I found out that my dad has recently taken to a complete refusal to refrigerate any food or wash any dishes under the assumption that heating it up will kill everything dangerous in it anyway. He also feels this way about canned food that has clearly spoiled.![]()
I'm realizing that I procrastinated too long on filling out my absentee ballot, and there's basically no way I can get my ballot envelope notarized and get it in the mail in time for it to get there by Tuesday. 🙁 It's completely my fault, I got my ballot last Monday, but then time got away from me because we had three tests this past week.
Also my cat threw up on a pair of my shoes.![]()
Cats truly are dinguses! Oh well, it seems to have washed off pretty well, and they weren't my nicest pair of shoes by any means. When we still lived at my parent's, my kitty could be miles away from my bedroom, but she would still dart up there just to puke on the white carpet. She'd be in the kitchen starting to heave, pause so she could run up the stairs, then complete her heaving in my room. Always. Lol.
It's something I'm definitely concerned about. He's got a lot of other complicating issues though that can make it difficult to suss out what's going on. I'm honestly still trying to figure out whether this is an outgrowth of his hoarding. Frankly he's nearly impossible to bring to a doctor as well because he lies and fights with them so much that they all pretty much invariably drop him as a patient, which is something he's done at for least 10+ years.Um if this is recent, could it be early dementia or something? he should take the food handling safety class online. usually through your state/county. refrigerating is definitely important. lol. but i agree, it's weird that this is a sudden assumption to make.Speaking of ridiculous family members, I found out that my dad has recently taken to a complete refusal to refrigerate any food or wash any dishes under the assumption that heating it up will kill everything dangerous in it anyway. I did actually watch an episode on hoarding, a woman that was featured specifically hoarded canned food (some 40+ years old with clearly damaged cans) and said the same thing, that heating it would make it safe. Usually education isn't what they need, but therapy....and it doesn't sound like taking your dad to see someone will be easy. It's something I'm definitely concerned about. One of my cats will sometimes go into my bathtub to puke, which I appreciate. When we still lived at my parent's, my kitty could be miles away from my bedroom, but she would still dart up there just to puke on the white carpet. As someone who is continually trying to manage my mother's mental health and trying to make her take her diabetes seriously, I commiserate. She's been putting off bloodwork for a month now...My PM box is always open. It's something I'm definitely concerned about. My dad is diabetic as well. Interestingly, I've met quite a few people who have issues with their own diabetic parents that are very similar to mine with my dad.As someone who is continually trying to manage my mother's mental health and trying to make her take her diabetes seriously, I commiserate. I didn't realize some states had to get theirs notarized... man, I'd never be able to vote if that were the case.I'm realizing that I procrastinated too long on filling out my absentee ballot, and there's basically no way I can get my ballot envelope notarized and get it in the mail in time for it to get there by Tuesday. 🙁 It's completely my fault, I got my ballot last Monday, but then time got away from me because we had three tests this past week.

Things have really been terrible the past eight weeks. Right when I think things are starting to look up, life comes and hits me in the head. 2016 sucks. Can it be 2017 yet??
Yeah, it's a pain in the butt! There is a notary on campus and at the UPS store here, probably at my bank too, but I put it off too late and nothing was open Saturday evening or today. I could maybe get it taken care of in the morning before class, but even if I were able to get it notarized and in the mail tomorrow, I doubt it would get there in one day, even though it is just one state over. I feel guilty about it, but oh well. At least I don't live in a swing state.Same thing here, ugh (you're from Missouri, too, if I remember right?)! I feel so awful about my chance to vote being essentially thrown away. 🙁
I cannot wait until this election is over. In the last 24 hours, I've gotten maybe 10 phone calls from people campaigning for a certain candidate. As soon as I try to tell them they don't even have the correct number (they call my cell asking for my mom), they hang up and apparently don't take my name off their list. I finally got the last woman who called to stay on the line long enough to mark me as 'incorrect number.'
I'm also getting text messages from people I don't know telling me to vote and it's getting ridiculous.
Yeah and it's weird because it's people calling/texting from their personal phone numbers...not from some campaign center. At first I thought the texts were someone pranking me but I guess not. I've gotten calls from Texas, Ohio, Nevada, and more.Blah I can't even imagine. I have been sick of just the amount I see in my junk mail and on Facebook and I'm out of the country... so sorry for everyone who has to see so much more of it in the US regardless of who you hate more.
Both of our class reps were brought to tears today, so guess that's something.
I think there's some thing where you can volunteer to be a call person. Joke's on them, I voted like two or three weeks ago.
Woah, what happened? Both of our class reps were brought to tears today, so guess that's something.
Uh oh 🙁 Seemed like you guys were BFFs on Facebook...message me if you want to vent or anything. I've had my fair share of roommate drama and even abuse, so I get it.Yay for roommate problems right in the middle of finals week...
I just love when there are issues that are impossible to be resolved! Oh, and her parents own the house![]()
Oh no! That makes things so hard. I'm here if you want to talk!Yay for roommate problems right in the middle of finals week...

Oh geez. Did she not know she was allergic prior? I wouldn't take it too personally, but you both should be respectful of each other until you can find a situation that works. We normally are, but I'm probably going to have to move. Idk when I'll have time for that though. She's deathly allergic to my dogs and resents me (and them) for her inability to breathe which is putting a major strain on our relationship. It sucks 🙁

She's only allergic to *some* dogs, and it just so happens she's allergic to mine. She's also allergic to cats, horses, pollen, etc... pretty much everything there is to be allergic too.
Is she a vet student too? I'm also allergic to everything under the sun, lol. Including my new doggy. Today a professor asked me if I'd had a cold for the past month because every time we speak I have the sniffles, and I had to tell her "no, I'm just allergic to my dog," lmao. I dunno, I just deal with it. It also gets better over time.

I'm the same with cats - really badly but I can survive living with them as long as I keep up with my (three) daily allergy meds and make sure to wash my hands after touching them before touching my face. But it definitely gets way better when I'm around them more - I went a year of vet school with no cats and then had a roommate who had one and it was pretty rough even though I had 3 in my house at home and wasn't diligent with my meds!
That's pretty frustrating that obviously she knew that when you moved in... I definitely understand being on the suffering side of that as well but its not fair for her to resent you when she knew there was a likely chance she'd be allergic to them. Not sure how it is with dogs because they probably romp around a lot more but even that cats that bother me the worse I can live with as long as I'm well medicated and they are allowed zero access to my room and being really anal about washing couch covers and swiffering and dusting, etc.
You're not the only person I have heard with guinea pig allergies, I know of more than one tech that is allergic to nothing else but can't even be in the room with a guinea pig!My allergies aren't nearly as bad. I don't take allergy medicine unless I'm on farm calls in the summer/spring, so mainly just for environmental allergies. The more I've worked with animals over the years, the more my allergies have subsided--when I was really young, I'd have asthma attacks after being around cats. But before my cat passed recently, she basically lived in my bed. Sometimes there will be a particular cat that I'm extremely allergic to, but it's kind of rare. Oh, I'm deathly allergic to guinea pigs for some reason. Eyes swell up, throat closes up, it's really terrible. Only guinea pigs, lol!

Is it at all possible that you're using a certain topical, shampoo, anything that's an easy fix? Even if your roommate has a food allergy and that food product is in the dog food...if she's sensitive enough, she can react to dander in the environment that the dog licked before it was shed or get a rash just from being licked by or petting your dog. I've been told that when some people say they only react to certain dogs or cats, that it could very well be a food allergy in disguise. She's only allergic to *some* dogs, and it just so happens she's allergic to mine. She's also allergic to cats, horses, pollen, etc... pretty much everything there is to be allergic too.
WTF I'm so sorry 🙁 I don't even know what to say other than you were her constant too, and she loves you back. I can't imagine the anxiety that comes with all of this, but your SDN family is here 24/7.I want to throw my computer at the wall and scream and cry. I don't know what to do.
Through all my problems and struggles, this dog had been my constant for 13 years. Through anxiety, depression, substance abuse, recovery, relapse, recovery again.
Lymphoma. Went for the top notch UW-19 protocol, gold standard, average remission 12+ months. Thousands of dollars. Wiped out my savings. It was worth it.
Three months in. Her chemo has failed. Abruptly and unexpectedly. Still, it was worth it.
She's going to die. She won't live to see another spring or another summer. She's going to die in winter. That terrifies me.
I literally don't know what to do guys. I'm so scared. I almost broke down in Petsmart today just buying dog food, knowing that in a few months I wouldn't be buying dog food. I don't know what to do and I'm snotting all over the keyboard like a toddler.
