We'll have to agree to disagree on that then. I still feel it was unnecessary, if kas9ey really didn't attribute that opinion to liberals in general. I am willing to accept that kas9ey probably didn't mean any offense, but to me, it was a poor choice of words. It seems about as relevant as saying "ignorant Chinese (or whatever ethnicity the guy was)", and I'm sure people would take offense at that.

Enough about that now. Back to enzymes.

Something similar happened in my hometown 4 years ago. It made national news. Whenever people find out where I'm from, they ask me if I knew the victim or the murderer. No... but my dad installed cable at their apartment, evidence was stashed at the coffee shop 5 minutes from my house, and I probably served both of them ice cream at some point or another.

Yes, it's kind of creepy. It's also really sad when these things happen close to home.

Following Coquette's lead, back to the anatomy of the heart... lol.

Dude, she's always that way, and don't take it personally. You always seem so butthurt in your posts and it just doesn't have to be that way. Ratchet down the defensiveness. 🙂

Nobody should take it personally if I'm being defensive. I have to put up with enough of that crap in real life. It's refreshing to finally be able to tell somebody to back off.

Also, in one instance, Coquette made a comment very similar to me, and Nyanko went after me and not Coquette. Coquette said something about finding it difficult to meet people. I said I agreed with her and knew exactly how she felt. Nyanko told ME to get over it. Not Coquette. On a thread that she had never posted on before.

That to me seemed like an attack.

If all of those comments were ment to be "harmless", well, she needs to work on her phrasing. I can't read minds over the interwebs. I also can't determine tone/facial expressions/body language that would help determining if it was an attack or if it was harmless.

At least I didn't start it with a sarcastic comment that wasn't called for.

"I'm going to say something rude about you but you are not allowed to say anything rude back. If you do, my friends and I will gang up on you. We won't let you get away with it."

It's junior high school all over again. Except vitual. Which is waaay better. If Nyanko was around back then and all up in my business, I would been suspended for punching her out.

Urrrgh. There is a fire alarm going off somewhere in the school.

I recorded GLEE last night all excited to watch it this morning. It was a rerun. Why do shows do that?
At least its raining. I love rainy days.

Your whiny, defensive, self-centered posts all over this forum make me want to hurl up my breakfast. I would try not to read the rant thread to avoid them, but your victim complex permeates the other threads I like to read, too. It sucks that you feel persecuted by Nyanko and the whole rest of the world, but I am tired of hearing about it. I rarely see you contribute more to threads than complaining and I think you should just tone it down a bit.

I knew it wouldn't take long for this to happen again. Like I said before SH, I was not the only person who felt that way. (and my opinion formed by itself, not from persuasion by anyone else)

If I commented on every single thing I didn't agree with, I would be up to 10 000 posts by now :laugh:

Besides, this is the RANT here thread. Majority of the posts on here are "Poor me" posts, whether they're ranting about work, friends, family, or crappy things that have happened to them lately. If you're really that annoyed by this "poor me" stuff, nobody is forcing you to read the thread.

Quite frankly, it kind of annoys me when people post "Work sucks" over and over and over and over and over again without go into any detail about it. But I happily just skip over it and keep my comments to myself. Go ahead "Work sucks" people! I won't bother you anymore, I promise.
 
A dear friend of mine from HS passed away this morning from cancer.

My favorite movie star, Elizabeth Taylor, passed away.

My grandmother is in the hospital for the 3rd time in 2 weeks.

And I got woken up twice last night by the phone ringing for stupid reasons, and woke up this morning feeling like crap and missed all my classes.

Tempted to drown myself in nyquil and sleep through the rest of this horrid day before something else goes wrong 🙁

Oh, and another rant. My favorite forum in the world, SDN, has been taken over by petty arguments and immature name calling. Every single thread I look at lately goes downhill and I'm sick of it and I'm sick of this forum.

omg you did not just say that?! cowgirla's world is coming down, people in her life are ill and some have passed away. how do you think SHE feels?! this is something serious. You aren't actually being "attacked". Here is another example where you think your life is actually in a worse place or even comparable to someone who is going through real pain and real problems. its atleast nice you edited your comment and wrote something about her grandma in the end 😛 this is unbelievable, i guess it really is hopeless to get through to you

This is why I hate the interwebs. One little comment can be completely thrown out of context. Do you really think I'm THAT cold-hearted, shallow and cruel? Don't answer that, because appartently on the world that is the interwebs, I am what everyone says I am and I have no say in the matter.

I've been going through some similar stuff that cowgirla has. I know exactly how you feel... sad, overwhelmed, stressed, and all you want to do is put the world on pause for a little bit. Hang in there.

Because in this little world called SDN, rudeness and sarcasm must always be taken like it's a compliment.

I'd be nice if the sarcasm police would stop following me around, trying to get a rise out of me.

This whole stupid thing started because I was like "Hey, based on my personal experiences was a kid, the US health care system was a little better than the Canadian one due to x and y" and somebody thought it would be fun to make me look like a pompous rich kid who's be screwed if it wasn't for her momma.

it wasn't that it was thrown out of complex. and its ironic you erased the grandma comment. my point was those comments shouldnt be there at all! Can you just focus on giving sympathy to another person without also bringing yourself into it? your response should have been only about cowgirla's issues because they are obviously bigger than what you have to complain about. you should have deleted everything except the grandma comment.

And isn't it the number one rule when trying to comfort someone, not to say "i know exactly how you feel" because...u dont. no matter what you have been through. can't you just respond without bringin yourself into it? i feel like a broken record...

cowgirla, i'm really sorry that all this has happened in such a short period of time. I know you probably didn't want me or anyone else to continue this petty argument on this thread and I'm sorry. I hope things start to look 'up' for you after this horrible time in your life
 
cowgirla - a highschool friend of mine passed away due to a horrific car accident a few years after we graduated. We weren't really THAT close, but it was a terrible time for me. He was the most warm-hearted, kind, giving person. Sometimes life just isn't fair. Just take it easy today and relax. The world might make a little more sense tomorrow. *hugs*
 
I've been known to get into it in forums, though the older I get the better I've gotten about avoiding it.

But lately, any time I'm tempted to respond heatedly, defensively, offensively, or somewhere in between .... I just look over the cube wall at work to my buddy who is exactly one year younger than me and dealing with a grade 3 astrocytoma inside his head. I think about what it'd be like staring at a life expectancy measured in low single-digit years and leaving behind my wife and two (soon three) young kids, like he's dealing with.

Then I don't care anymore about responding to whomever pissed me off, or whomever I pissed off, or whatever.

Peace out, peeps. Consider this an apology in advance to anyone I upset.

I feel this way, too. I'm debating about how much I'll stick around after all the drama. I'm tired of having to shift through all the arguments to be able to read helpful information or figure out if I have anything to share.

Honestly, a LOT of people fall off the radar when school starts in the fall so i will probably be able to stomach coming back and helping the 2016'ers survive their cycle but it's gonna be a LONG summer of dealing with all this crap. :scared:

I'm one to talk, though - whenever I get pissed off at people on SDN, I just rant on facebook, feel better, and never have to deal with the repercussions on here. 😉 (ask TT, she can vouch for some raging on my wall) ha!

Anyone else in favor of having this thread locked? I'm just thinking that all this negative talk isn't the greatest to have on the forum. I think it brings up a lot of emotions and can bring us all down. I've ranted in here my fair share but I'm thinking this thread has had it's day. Let's get back to what matters (on this specific forum, at least): GETTING INTO VET SCHOOL!

Only problem is that the negativity isn't only in this thread. Otherwise it really would be as simple as locking it! I'd vote for warnings from moderators where they see fit, though...

agreed. I just feel like there is a slight correlation to when this thread starting getting huge and when the other drama started. Is it an actual correlation? Don't know - I just wish that the whiners would stop whining, the name callers would stop calling, the antagonists would stop antagonizing.... etc etc.

EDIT: well, let's be honest, I've just been waiting for chance to use the thread "lock" emoticon for teatime. 😉

You can't get mad about the declining tone of the forum and take a passive-aggressive shot at 'whiners', 'name callers' and 'antagonizers' in the same post.

It just sounds ridiculous.

I wouldn't have minded it being locked a couple of months ago.

I also noticed the correlation between this thread and the rest of the drama. So happy that most of the drama in other threads is not caused by my existence.
 
i'm totally in agreement with closing this thread. it won't solve all the problems on SDN but this thread is by far the most upsetting for me when i see people repeatedly complaining about things that don't actually matter in life. If you see me as an antagonist, so be it. But I'm not the type of person that will just sit by for a year and not do anything to create a positive change. There are times to just ignore people, because in the end it doesn't really matter, but after a year or more I think it is appropriate to take a stand. Nothing ever changes if everyone ignores what bothers them. And if people need true emotional support for serious problems they should seek it in person, not on a forum.

ok then, i guess ive made my point clear enough. anyone else who would like to never comment on what is being talked about can continue to read negative comments and watch as the downfall of SDN continues. ill stick to what ive been doing this whole year, helping to answer the questions of prevets who post in the Penn forum or the forum for the new matriculating class
