Just had my first interaction with a client who won't listen to me because I'm the assistant. I know it happens, but no one's been so obvious as this person. She kept just saying, "Oh, I'll just talk to the vet about this and that" and I'm just trying to get a better history on her 2 month old kitten from her backyard. Then she asks to have her kitten's nails trim, so I do and the kitten, being previously feral, is hissing and trying to bite me and she's like "Do you even know what you're doing? Maybe you should go get help, blah blah blah." Yes lady, I'm am completely qualified to cut your kitten's toe nails. It would be wayyy easier if he wasn't trying to eat me. Her response, "Oh he just hisses, he won't bite." Yeah, no. He wants to bite. And then I tell her how I don't want to take the chance cause then there is quarantine and she's said she flat out wouldn't follow it if it happened.
After I went to go get her dewormer she then asks me how many litter boxes she should have and how to tell the cats to use their own specific litter boxes. I've never owned a cat but I've been under the impression that it is quite difficult to tell certain cats to use certain litter boxes. So I tell her what I've always been told by the vets and then 5 minutes later I hear her ask the vet the exact same question to get the exact same response. If you don't want advice from me, don't ask for it.
And I know this happens all the time, but for some reason it really irked me today.
