NOOOOOO DONT DO IT!!! Not worth the risk!!! You'll be a lot more selfconcious of scars on your body from where they had to take out melanoma.
I love having a tan and I'm lucky enough that i brown up from going running a few times a week with sunblock on in summer (that said there is a huge hole in the ozone over perth...) but I've DEFINATELY been a few different shades at one time over summer... that said almost everyone in perth is.
I would really do your best not to worry about it, and if you are, wear a consistant set of clothes for a few days, slather up and do stuff outside in the sun. More productive, safer in my opinion, and usually makes a difference...
What about a fake tanner, Trematode ?
I cannot anymore (apparently got allergic from using it a lot) but the gradual glow stuff always looked really nice on me.

I have never seen jersey shore. Do they use fake tanners on it? I thought they just tanned and did laundry.

I think fake tanners (good ones!) look great on lots of people! They cheap ones suck and are super orange, but the good ones look like a nice tan - without the cancer.

I hate that. Especially in the winter when you're all warm and cuddly in bed and to go to the bathroom means braving the cold.
I told my parents about the break up tonight 🙁. It was devastating. This is just not getting easier. To make it worse, I just got an e-mail from his mom saying how sorry she is and how they will always think fondly of me and such and such. I specifically told him to tell his family not to contact me. I don't want to be reminded of the family I'm also losing in this relationship if the boy I love isn't enough 🙁. I don't have words....

I'm no planning on making this a weekly thing for the rest of my life. I just want to even it out and then pray I don't get another fake lab job.
Cancer does not run in my family, but I am technically in the risk group for it (pale skin, >50 moles).

My BFF called last night on her way to the emergency vet, and once there - her mom's dog was there for vomiting, lethargy, and heavy breathing. He's a 9yo flat-coat and I've known him since he was a year old when they got him, back when BFF still lived with her mom during college, which also tells you how long I've known her and her family. I was skeptical of the vet's diagnosis, but hopeful, and encouraged them to leave him overnight for monitoring because of the breathing.
Just got the call that he started having seizures and his heart rate is 200, and they took him to the specialty referral clinic. I'm not really getting the whole story because they are having a hard time understanding what's going on, but I am afraid that it's as bad as I think and he's in heart failure and serious respiratory distress, and they're going to end up euthanizing. I'm pissed at the original 2 vets who saw this dog yesterday for horribly mis-diagnosing and I'm sad for my BFF and her family. Especially her mom, who does not handle things well, and it is going to absolutely crush her to lose this dog. And I know I'm not being logical, but feelings. And being woken up at 6am with bad phone calls. 🙁

CFC, I'm so sorry. It is hard, and I've never remained in contact with an ex's family after breaking up, but I have a friend who is still really good friends with her ex-fiance's mom. It is possible to maintain those relationships, but it will surely take time.
Rejected for another dog, and this time after the foster mom had the gall in our phone interview to tell me I should foster the difficult medical cases the rescue has. Fostering is great and I'm thinking about it, but don't pretend you're going to let me have the dog I want and say I should have a really sick one, and only temporarily. The rejection email is full of "apply again" and I will, but I'm sorely tempted to look for a breeder instead. UGH.
That sucks. Is there another rescue for this breed around your area? Have you checked the shelters around in case a dog of that breed comes in?
I haven't checked shelters, mostly because I really don't expect to find one there, and also because the good local shelter has a fence policy (you must have one to adopt, and I don't. What an idiotic rule--no one who lives in an apartment or prefers leash walking can be a good owner?). The rescue I'm applying to kind of has a monopoly on these dogs. 🙁
Is there only one shelter in the area? What breed are you looking for ? (don't know if I missed that)
There were 4 shelters that I was considering in the area, and only the nice suburban ones required a fenced yard. Overcrowded, government-funded shelters didn't care.

I'm really sorry CFC. Losing the ex's family can sometimes make the whole breakup a more upsetting experience. I hope things get better soon.
I'm a really bad person for this... but...
My best friend bought me tickets for her and I to go to a concert this weekend... she got in a minor car accident Sunday and says she doesn't feel up to going to the concert now. First of all, she's a compete drama queen so I know half of it is for attention, and I'm sure she's sore, but I'm just sad now. We're concert buddies and it's like our "thing" and I live far away from her so it's rare that we get to go together anymore. I hope she feels better and I feel selfish for feeling this way but I'm just really annoyed. And have no one to go with 🙁.

I am still finding things I miss on my computer from when it crashed in March. And by 'finding' I mean 'not having.'
Just found my old mare on a horse rescue site. I gave her away a few years ago to a "forever home" at this amazing program with the promise that she would be there until she died. Now she has shown up on some backyard, horse rescue site, and my heart is broken. :cry: Why didn't the people contact me if they couldn't keep her anymore?! 😡
I've tried to contact the place all morning with no luck yet, and I'm just beside my self with worry. I loved that mare. 🙁

Thanks guys...I knew you all would understand. The worst part is just waiting to hear something. I can't imagine how she ended up at this rescue 2 states away from where I left her.

OMFG. I would be FURIOUS. I donated a mare a number of years ago, and if anything like this had happened, heads would be rolling. Keep us posted, hopefully you can get her back!
Things I can reasonably expect to see in a kennel after a dog has had surgery: blood, vomit, diarrhea
Things I don't expect to see: a dachshund missing all of the skin on its side from its shoulder to its hips. The dachshund it had spent its whole life with freaked out after surgery and proceeded to eat the skin off the other dog. Perhaps the worst part of this horror story: dachshund 1 lived through all of this. I can't get the image out of my mind of the poor baby with this confused, pained look on her face.

And this is why I never wake up surgery patients in cages with their buddies. YIKES. Poor thing, I hope she's going to be ok!
Definitely not. We ended up calling the vets before they came in to get permission to sleep her. Literally all the skin was gone on her side. You could see the thin layer of muscle covering her ribs. I mean you could see how white her ribs were. At that point the most humane thing to do was put her down.
Poor dog. 🙁

Also, I have a bad update on my mare. The people "think" she has been sold since they don't think have her for sale. WTF?! But they can't tell me who "bought" her (this is supposed to be an adoption place by thew way so why was she for sale?!), or where she went. Did my research on the place, and it's a pretty dirty adoption place apparently. They've been known to run horses back through the slaughter pens if they don't "sell" in a week's time. I'm beyond sick about this. My poor, sweet mare. :cry: Still not giving up until I have a definite answer. but it's not looking good. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. 🙁
