Andddd now I have an egg on my head too. I look like I got beat in the face. AWESOME! Especially when I get to see my potential british love interest in 2 days.

Can't believe how much I miss my BF. Watching him leave today was brutal. 🙁

AND my class just decided that they weren't going to try to push our anatomy test back two days, despite us having a single business day between three major tests this week and a major event on Saturday. Awesome. Guess I don't get to sleep for like the next week. efffffff.

I always feel super guilty when I miss a class. It's usually an accident - like right now. I was awake and everything, about to get up, and damned if I didn't fall back asleep somehow. No amount of sleep ever really satiates me. Hm.

Anyway, I think I do fine when I miss, especially since it's recorded, but I feel terrible about it anyway. :lame:

If you have 5-6 hours(crazy, I know:laugh:) take a melatonin tablet(the 3mg ones from the store). They work wonders for me. I take it arond 30 minutes before bed. It puts me in REM sleep much faster and I don't wake up until 4-5 hours later. (normally, I wake up every 2 or so hours.)

It might help you feel more rested on less sleep.

I really don't know how you guys do it ... is it something you just got used to? I have to get at least 7 hours of sleep to function 😱

Last year I got used to small amounts of sleep and I didn't take anything. This year, I can't stay up very late at all. Jaja

4-6 hours of sleep usually works for me, a little more doesn't hurt, any less I am dead and too much more I am also very tired the next day.
 
I get a lot more sleep than that and I have the whole way through vet school. That may change during clinics, but I make sleep a priority and it is definitely possible.

Phew, that's good to hear! 7+ is required for my sanity. I pretty much hit the ground running from the moment I get up until I crash at night.
 
We get an entire week off before exams (this is a really good thing) but the professors have come up with one day where they are going to pull out the anatomy specimens in the dissection room so that we can go in when we want and study them. Which day do they pick? The day that I am getting my internet service installed. The company to install the internet is going to come between 8AM and 1PM, if they come at 1PM, get done by 1:30-2PM that means I can catch a bus at around 2:30PM, get the other bus at 3:17PM to get to the vet school by around 4PM.. Which will leave me with a very short time to go over the specimens... :bang:

SERIOUSLY!! The ONE day that I really could not get down to the anatomy lab is the day they pick.. I have the worst luck.

:xf: that the people to install the internet come at 8AM so that I can actually make it to the anatomy lab.

Can you not go in another time to look at specimens? We could go in whenever we wanted.

Unfortunately, no. They throw anatomy at us really fast to fit two years of the program into one. We have all of anatomy in these first 5 weeks. So we don't have our own dogs that we dissect; all of the specimens are pre-dissected and belong to the school. The only dissection we have done was on rabbits.

I have taken pictures of the specimens and have those that I can study off of, but I was still wanting to study the rest of this week/weekend and beginning of next week (they were supposed to hold this on Tuesday the 11th) and then go into the anatomy lab with the specimens and test my knowledge.. See what has stuck with me and what I need to study more.

That's pretty sucky. I was in that stupid lab all the time looking at the stupid dogs and cats lol.

I hear you about not changing the exam. Would it really have been that bad?

Same here. I need sleep to function so I MAKE it a priority. Last night was the latest I've been up yet and that was 10:30. I feel so much better when I sleep though. Hoping I'll be able to keep it up for the most part.

I have friends and family that like to poke fun at me for being in bed every night by 9! I tell them they would be in bed by 9 too if they got up at 4:30 every day!! :meanie:

My bedtime is generally between 9 and 10. I'm up at 5:30 in the morning, but studying takes so much out of me I have to get to sleep early.

Ugh no it wouldn't have. The second years say the anatomy quizzes are really easy, so it'd just be encroaching a bit on our histology test... which I guess I understand, but seriously, we don't have time for the mock to be helpful and it's my birthday on Saturday and I wanted to be able to celebrate just a little bit, but instead I get to study. 🙁 *whine whine*

Oh well, what's done is done, I just wish we'd had a chance to discuss the pros and cons or something before deciding.

Going to study physiology until I pass out now, haha.

Just sat through a 2hr lecture on how terrible the market is for veterinarians, how difficult residencies are to secure, how a huge number of internships are 'slave labor' and how there is a huge surplus of specialists with few-to-no job prospects... The class title? Agricultural Animal Handling. What. The. F.

...


Guess I better go study for school although I will likely be unemployed or, worse, employed in a slave-labor internship after all this hard work.
 
"Just A Dream" by Carrie Underwood just came up on my Pandora station and I started crying like a baby because I just heard that one of my friends is leaving for Afghanistan soon. That songs was too sad to not break down. I haven't really spoken to him in a while, but we were good friends in high school and I really hope he'll be ok. 🙁
 
My family's cat may have an obstructed bowel. Probably a hair ball.

My dad is on disability for a back injury. My brother is $40 000 in bank debt. I'm $18 000 in bank debt and am trying to find work. My parents have been grumbling about money lately. I don't know how they will they will get the money to fix her.

That awful time between the realization that I have missed my window for consumption of additional caffeine w/o being unable to sleep when I get home, and the end of shift.

And no one is awake yet.
 
My best friend's grandfather is in the ICU. He's been sick for a while but has been doing ok, he's very stubborn. Her family has been through so much. She lost her mom 2 years ago, her grandmother passed away a couple of years before that. I know that eventually everyone dies, but I hate that they are having to deal with so much. I'm hoping that he will get better. If he passes away and I can't go to the funeral because of school, I'm going to feel horrible. I already missed her grandmother's wedding because of a test. I feel like a crappy friend. I wish there were something I could do.

There are organizations out there who will provide funding for medical treatment for your pets in cases like yours. I'm on the triage team of one of them but we're dogs only. I don't know any cat organizations off the top of my head but you should look into it!
 
I am seriously never going to let with this letting agency ever again! I was informed that they had contacted the power company to let them know that I had taken over the property and was living here. I just called the electric company right now and they never informed them that I moved in. It costs me money to call the electric company because it is a 08 number and those are not covered on my cell phone plan, so now I have to pay for the 20+ minute phone call that I just made to set up the account with Scottish Power that I had been informed had already been set up. Not only that because this was not set up at the proper time they do not have meter readings from the day that I moved in so I have no idea how they are going to determine what I owe for those 5 days I was here at the end of July and through the month of August. I am seriously completely fed up with this bull****. I am leaving as soon as this lease is up.

They also have STILL not paid the bill from February to the point I moved in. Thankfully, that bill is not in my name and I will not have to worry about it anymore.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I can't get these damn ribs to articulate with the thoracic vertebrae properly...everytime I think I have it, it doesn't look right..
 
I have been feeling SO unproductive, and it's only the beginning of the semester! I know I need to start cracking down and memorizing all this crap for the ology classes but I just can't be bothered mentally. For some reason, I've been channeling my productiveness into domesticity and have been cooking up a storm nearly every night 😕 And there aren't any non-stick pans here so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be scrubbing the remains of deliciousness off the bottom of pots. My sink is full of dishes and I feel like a slob, even though they just piled up because I made crazy taco soup.

Uf financial aid is "unable to determine [my] residancy classification with the information currently available." :boom:
SUCK A FAT ONE, financial aid!!!!!!!!

The worst part... they didn't "email me immediately" once a decision was made like they PROMISED to do, they sent a letter to my home address (the one in FLORIDA that apparently isn't good enough for them) and my brother called me today to tell me.

Now I have to send in my 2011 1040 tax return :poke:
What a bunch of *****s! +pissed+:slap::sendoff::bang::beat::bullcrap::wtf:

That sucks! Hopefully this will be the last thing of many. This truck was owned by my trainer for years and worked perfectly fine for her. (Towed my mare to many shows with that truck!) We drove it to our house and it keeps imploding. Annoying. Of course, my husband is positive that they sold it to us because it was breaking down but I think it's just plain darn old luck.🙄

Cue awkward e-mail to Financial Aid office from heylodeb! $2500-3500.....yeah, sure, I'd love to take out MORE loans I'll never be able to pay off.
 
Our cat is doing better. Vomitting subsided and bowels moved. She was out on fluids and is now doing fine. The clinic has called mon twice to check up on her. She is very happy with her vet.

this is REALLY stupid, but it really irritates me when professors write 2 words with the same meaning consecutively. like ____ASE enzyme or worldwide pandemic. dumb, i know!

your solar cooker, duh 😛 😉 i once had a british bottle of body wash that gave very explicit instructions on how to open the bottle and dispense the contents (but not the lather, rinse, repeat routine you normally see haha)

That IS really pedantic lol.

I guarantee you there are people in medicine & veterinary medicine that don't automatically think "enyzme" when they see "-ase" or think "worldwide" immediately on "pandemic." It's not always necessarily clear to everyone that a pandemic must be global. We might know better, but I feel like those aren't a big deal.

However ATM machine and PIN number make me want to stomp people's faces.
