Sometimes things are a lot better in theory than in practice, and I really hope the whole of senior week doesn't turn out like that. Tonight I went to trivia with a few friends, but it was super loud and crowded so my housemate and I left early...and went home...and didn't do anything. I have such high expectations for senior week, but if it's just going to be other people getting drunk and me getting left behind and I still don't get to see half my friends I was so close to before, it will just be terrible.

At least you get a senior week. Rutgers decided to ax it this year...for whatever reason. I literally graduate the day after finals are over.

Has anyone tried that Krave cereal? The one with chocolate inside? Omg. I can't even. I like to eat dry cereal if it's bigger pieces like quaker oatmeal squares. This stuff is like crack cocaine.

I think Krave is gross. But I love the Quaker Oats oatmeal squares. Yummy!

Hahahaha. I watched it earlier. Either a classmate share it with out group or shared it with someone else. I kind of want to watch it again...but I should study Immuno since my final tomorrow is 60% of my grade and I can't get lower than a 70...

Finally got around to watching The Deathly Hallows 2 and had to turn it off because I got so pissed off. The Draco/Voldemort hug totally killed Voldemorts character for me. He who must not be named is supposed to be so feared that people won't even say his name, including a lot of the characters in that scene....and they're akwardly smirking? No. That hug would be terrifying IRHPL (in real harry potter life).

I've always disliked all of the movies, and feel like they are poorly directed.

I'm a potterhead though so I don't think anyone could accurately portray the books in a movie.

This is a silly rant but ugh, pissed me off.

Agreed, he did an excellent job!

The movies definitely don't hold a candle to the books. Can't say I was really expecting them to though. I just get disappointed with most movie adaptations of books I really enjoy, so my expectations are usually very low. Imagination is always the best movie. 🙂
 
I am positive I've said this in here before in some thread or another but I think Alan Rickman is smexy as hell. And yes that makes me feel a little dirty because he's like 3x my age. 😛
 
I hate the shallowness of the city that I live in. Girls/women with fake boobs/butts/faces etc... Its fine if thats what you want to look like, but keep them out of my boyfriends (and my) face when we are out in public. Have some decency. 😡

End of rant.

NOT a silly rant!! The movies are just awful... My best friend and I (complete Potter nerds) were watching one in the theater and got so ticked off! The particular scene was not from the book, had little to do with the plot and was over dramatized. To those who hadn't read the books it was probably cool and "scary." But to us it was just stupid, so we were laughing as loud and hard as we could. No one could hear us because it was so loud, but I suppose it would have made it fairly anticlimactic if they had.

I agree. Snape rocks!! (I do wish they has left in the scene from the Chamber of Secrets where he caught Harry and Ron when they finally got to school late with the Ford Anglia.) McGonnagle's actress does a fairly good job too I think.

😍 Dame Maggie Smith. She cracked me up in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (which was a fantastic movie - plus it had so many of the older British actors I love).

You must live where I'm from. My county is the plastic surgery capital of the US. Literally. We even beat out Hollywood. 🙄
Except most of them are old rich women that just look weird as hell afterwards :scared:

You would be surprised, I've looked at quite a few apartments where the landlord didn't even consider a bird a pet. There seem to be 2 extremes, one who is clueless, where they think a bird is as benign as a goldfish because it lives in a cage and the other who likely had a bad experience with a parrot and thinks they are the devil.
 
Working reception at the ER tonight. Taking a break to come back down from the adrenaline rush that was the 911 EMS call that was patched through to me. Trying to talk people down from panic over the phone isn't easy. 🙁 Whew...

My 14 hour ER shift has been rather slow. I did get to snuggle a golden puppy though.

I can totally understand why so many women get breast augmentation surgery, considering the way our culture tends to push the "If you don't have big breasts you are worthless as a female" kind of ideal. What I don't understand is why so many TEENAGERS get breast augmentations. You're not even done developing yet . . . why not wait and see what you've got naturally before you go adding onto it? 😕

I agree. I know of a few surgeons who won't operate until you're 21 or 22 because you're not done developing yet. I also know about 10-15 girls who have gotten breast augmentations. Most waited until they were at least 20 though. I couldn't imagine being a father who buys their daughter boobs right before they send them off to college. Lol.

Its hard for me to imagine wanting a boob job because I blossomed in 4th/5th grade and was miserable. Got kicked out of gymnastics. Lol.

My SO's mother had hers done in her 30s and she says that she wished she got them done sooner. I think she got a tummy tuck too after having SO and his brother. IMHO I think she would look much better if hers were a little smaller but she is happy so that's good. I thought she was SOs sister until he introduced her as his mom. 🙄

That is disgusting. For crying out loud, they're practically kids! I can't imagine wanting anything like that done, especially at THAT age! 👎
 
My grandparents, aunts, and uncles all think my parents were stupid for letting me choose to become a veterinarian instead of a human doctor. They are constantly harassing my parents about their poor parenting skills and about how they've let me "take the easy route".

Wish I could fly home to slap them right now.

easy...right. i'll keep that in mind as i'm studying for my path final trying to remember all the pneumonia lesions (amongst hundreds of other things) for six sets of different species

And yes, high school graduation gifts are always plastic surgery. It's crazy. I'm actually from Martin County (county north of Palm Beach county) but I was definitely referring to PB county where I used to live. 👍
 
Started talking with someone. I was feeling better and doing much better but now not so much. Just 🙁. Think I am going to set up an appointment with a doctor to see if I can get something to help me sleep in the mean time. The max 2 hours of sleep each night is not helping and I have become afraid of falling asleep. I just want my life back.

Definitely make that appt! I'm sure some good sleep will make a huge difference. 🙂
 
My best friend's baby is back in the hospital with more cardiac issues 🙁
She'll be spending her first Mother's Day in a hospital, staring at monitors, and worrying about her little girl. Breaks my heart.
 
The more I work as a tech the more vows I make to myself about how I will conduct myself as a veterinarian. My new one will be to not ever blow off tech suggestions and concerns about new symptoms. Or will I ever not tell them good job when the suggestions they made were right leading me to change my diagnosis to those suggestions.

there are a lot of things I learned as a tech on how to treat techs. Just remember how it felt and you won't do it.

Like yelling full force at a tech is not ok. Sometimes, mistakes happen. I would never do that to a tech or assistant. The other dr at my office, however....

Amen to this! I swear, I think to myself at least three times a day, I will never disrespect my techs like we are being disrespected. I WILL pay attention to their suggestions and observations, because just like in human medicine, the nurses are the ones spending more time with the patients, so many times they have better insight...At least from my experiences, being a tech is pretty similar to human nursing (My BF is an ICU nurse).
 
I am taking a biochem lab. My lab partner and I are required to turn in a joint manuscript for the project we worked on all semester. He never came to class prepared, so I ended up doing 95% of the work. I read him off data as I collected it, CLEARLY, and he says "ok" and acts like he is writing it down. So halfway through the semester, the professor asked me to come see him. Apparently my lab partner was turning in data on postlabs that didn't match mine and wanted my take (the prof saw I was doing the work and knew I had the right data- plus I got 108% on my midterm and my partner failed it.) So I kind of tried to scout it out, and apparently my partner was taking data from his friends in the class (who he spends most of the time talking to and not paying attention), and then altering the numbers randomly to make it not look like he was cheating.

So then he realized our lab notebooks were going to be collected. So he wanted to borrow mine overnight to get data he missed. I said no, but offered that he could look at it during a 30min period we had to wait for a gel to run to get the points he missed. He choose to go get dinner with his friends instead. And now wants me to email him all the data. Then another day he "couldn't do the calculations on the postlab because he missed some data" and wanted to copy mine one minute before class started. I said I needed to turn it in so it wasn't late, and put it on the professor's desk. The professor stepped out and my lab partner went up to the desk and COPIED MY DATA, right there in the front of the classroom.

So for the manuscript, I told him to do the abstract and the introduction, and I would do the rest. So he emails me his work last night. The abstract is one sentence long. The introduction is about four. Then he "wrote" the entire methods and results sections to "help me out". First of all, its almost publishable quality, better than I could have done, and he doesn't have any idea what is going on in class. And then its funny how we never ran an SDS-PAGE with two sets of dilutions and 12 lanes... or how we never used a 0.2M NaCl solution for an IEX... but its all in there. Plus there are absorbance ranges, pH results, extinction coefficients in it that certainly were not our data. :wtf:

So obviously its plagerized from somewhere. I'm going to have to do the whole thing myself, because I can't risk my acceptance over some idiot's work who clearly doesn't understand ethics. So am I nice and put his name on my work too, or am I a female dog and tell the professor the situation and turn in my own copy? Oh yeah, and its due tomorrow.

Hate *%$#%^%$# group projects.
 
Dvmdreamer, if I were you I would put your partner's name on the paper, turn it in, and then go talk to your professor privately asap. It sounds like your professor already knows that something is up anyway, so he'll probably be on your side. And, at the very least, it won't hurt your grade if you rat your partner out. Jerks like that should not be allowed to pass. 😡
 
Sometimes being harsh sucks, but this is YOUR grade and YOUR future at stake. Good luck!
 
dvmdreamer, if you are doing the ENTIRE thing (which minus a sentence or accepting his plagiarized BS it sounds like you are) then it should just be your name on the paper. I guess to give your partner a chance I would email him and tell him it's all unusable and unless he gives you something legitimate it's only going to be your name on the paper. That way you give him the chance to do a better job and if/when he can't follow through, you can feel less like a jerk about not putting his name on the paper that YOU did.
