Eek! I had a nasty infection in my forearm and hand from a cat bite on the hand. It was very painful. Hopefully you have better luck with yours. Get well soon!

Pup is getting scoped on Monday 🙁 He had blowout diarrhea this morning. I can't even tell you how much I am upset that I am not home in jersey to take care of him.

I had mine done for a job years before school but I felt super awful the day after my second one - fever, muscle aches, etc - and I know at least one classmate had to miss the day after one of hers as well. I was actually expecting this to be me because I've been knocked out for like 2 days by the flu mist vaccines. I was only sore for like a day from my rabies vaccines...might have been a little fevery after the first one but it was only that night and then I was fine. Third one hurt the most though.
 
For rabies vaccine, the first one just made me tired. The second made my arm tired, like I lifted weights or held a newborn baby all day. Third was fine.
 
Tonight is the start of my work week... 40 hrs over the next 3 nights, and I can't fall asleep... Ugh . I need some sleep.. Come on sheep, come my way!!!

Everyone reacts differently I guess. Insertion was painful. No other way to say that. A bunch of aleve + a nap + a thermacare heating pad and I'm feeling pretty decent actually. I like that it's more effective than the BC pill and that I don't have to worry about it for five years 🙂

Edited to add - a good friend recently got a copper wire one and really likes it. The Mirena one was a better choice for me so that's the one I went with.
 
I think I just fainted.. Twice. This hasn't happened in a long time so don't understand why it is happening again. I'm in bed now, but my head is pounding and my ears are ringing. 🙁
 
I had the most amazing experience yesterday with a bunch of piggies in the research study I'm working on 😍
But 12 straight hours of running up and down corridors, carrying pigs, jumping stalls and standing for Sxs has my broken foot feeling like hell. I can't wear my air cast and I'm not looking forward to today for that reason 🙁.
They found a stress fracture in the 2nd metatarsal (I broke the 5th) last Thursday, so two broken bones on my foot just makes this miserable. *Sigh*
Here goes nothin.

My IUD insertion sucked, I was in pain for a couple weeks afterward fairly badly,.. my first period was hell (pain wise and otherwise)... and the last 2 have been ok, but still heavier and more crampy for sure....

hoping they will continue to get better....

But I have a tiny uterus apparently... :laugh:

Yea my insertion actually sent me to the ER because I was having such bad pains that I couldn't stand for more than 30 seconds at a time and I started bleeding. Turns out I had a cyst in one of my ovaries that was not happy about having something pokey so close to it. That was the worst day ever considering I was messed with (which the insertion itself hurt) to get it in, messed with to see if it was in the right place, and then the ultrasound because they couldn't find anything else wrong with me. It has gotten a lot better though to the point that I occasionally cramp a little and that's it. Hang in there!

For my tiny rant: My dog tried getting me out of bed at like 5 this morning because he heard the other dogs come out of my parents' room. He's a bit destructive when left alone so I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Well, a half hour later I hear that oh so terrifying gagging noise we all know so well and rushed him outside so I didn't have to clean vomit out of the carpet. Did he have to vomit? NOPE! He just wanted outside. -.- Tricky bugger
 
I'm so mad since I wasted basically three weeks "trying to get" an animal care internship at a very well known/"innovative" animal shelter in my area. The first week I was waiting/called/emailed them to see if I'd even get an interview, and they finally called me the day before saying they were having a group interview tomorrow and I was the only one applying for the internship and the other people were for other jobs. That was two weeks ago So that went well and they had me come back for a working interview on the following Wednesday. It was going to be around 20 hours a week (unpaid!!) and after my working interview the hiring managers said they would be taking me for the position, had me fill out an availability form, and they'd get back to me with my schedule by this week with my schedule. So I've been waiting a week and a half for my schedule and they call me today and say they aren't going to take me anymore!

I'm just super annoyed since I spent these past two weeks after they told me I'd probably be getting the job after my regular interview and then after they told me I'd definitely get it after my working interview waiting for my schedule since I was planning on applying to other part time paid jobs but wanted to know my availability first. So now I have to start all over and have wasted a month on this and it's so frustrating. I also have no idea why they all of a sudden decided not to take me since I have experience in doing what I was going to be doing, did well on my working interview, no one else applied, plus it was basically just a "specialized" volunteer job and there was no money involved?? 😕 I just feel like this was handled really unprofessionally.

Also my bunny looks like he's getting another eye infection so we're going to have to take another trip to his vet 🙁

That's such a bummer! Don't give up on volunteer activities! Most shelters absolutely love having volunteers.

Thanks guys! Insertion did suck. I'm hoping I luck out from here on and am one of those people who are barely affected by it but we'll see. I know ovulation is going to blow for a few months so I'm already gearing myself up for that. Isn't being a girl so much fun?
 
That's why I love the implanon. The needle to get it in was huge but with local anesthesia I didn't feel anything. Literally. I wanted to watch but had looked away to talk to my dad and by the time I looked back at it, it was already in. Hahaha It's only for 3 years though.

I won't! I was just hoping to volunteer somewhere over the summer but I can't find anywhere here since everywhere requires a 6 month commitment but I'm only here for 3 months. I'm just going to find a regular job and shadow vets instead.

Damn, I didn't know about that one! If the Mirena doesn't work out I might try that next. I'm hoping it works though since I imagine that removing it feels similar to inserting it... :laugh:

Yeah, but the idea that my father would be in the same room when I am getting birth control is just weird to me. But, I grew up in a conservative family.
 
Hahahahaha I figure since that's all that was done, it wasn't a big problem. We don't have any trouble talking about that stuff so it didn't bother me having him there. He paid for it too.

I like it besides that it messes a bit with my skin and never know when I get my period. Haha I'm in a lot less pain thanks to it.

I wanted to get Implanon, but cannot as it contains hormones and cannot use any hormonal BC due to a medication on am on messing with the metabolism of the hormones. So the copper coil was my only choice for a BC other than temporary back up stuff which I plan to continue to use like condoms.

My dad is an OB-GYN...so that would not bother me at all for the Implanon since it is injected into your arm. I also talk to my dad about birth control and other female crap if I am having issues. We have always had a pretty open line of communication in regards to health stuff. I would never talk about my sex life with him though.
 
Wasting an hour to curl my hair and it comes out like poop 🙁 Curse my sister for getting the "pretty genes" 😡 I guess Ill have to settle with the "academic genes" and just look horrible all the time 😡

Nah it doesn't hurt at all to get it out. I had mine taken out after I switched to the ladies :laugh:
 
Struggling in my summer classes. UGH so hard to concentrate when everyone else is having fun 😡

On top of that I feel like all I do at work is clean anymore. Scooping poop outside, cleaning parking lot, organizing the basement, cleaning up parvo poop mixed with vomit.

Ugh I'm here to learn too!!! Not just do the work no one else wants to do.
 
Bad bad bad day. Had to EU a bunch of adorable 5 week old puppies with parvo. And their mother. 🙁 I need wine.

Keep doing the not-so-fun work with a SMILE. That's the only way to gain respect and to show that you want to be there regardless of what they ask you to do. Many of us had to do that and were eventually hired on as staff. Its worth it in the end.

A little while back the bf said we should find a game that we could play together online when we're apart. I thought that was a great idea. He recommended Civilization V since we can do the multiplayer mode online together through Steam. So I bought it and all the associated expansion packs for $40 from Amazon last weekend, which I thought was a pretty good deal.

It's now on sale on Steam for $12.50. wtf.

Not to mention that it's suuuppppperrrr addicting and I can't stop playing it. I'm never going to get anything productive done ever again. I think I'm going to have to uninstall everything before I leave for vet school, lest I fail out because I'm staying up until 2AM every night waging war on Greece. 🙄

I find it hard to stay focused on what my future will be when I have my head in a diarrhea filled dog crate to clean... At the same time I see it as extra motivation to move forward in life as fast as is possible so I can get out of the gross and monotonous side of the job. Lately I've been thinking that I may do something radically different for a job next summer... Maybe go to Alaska and give dog sled tours on a glacier or something fun. It wouldn't help me gain vet experience, but would surely help me become a well rounded applicant...
My rant is, that no matter how much I dream of a fun summer job like this, it is not likely to happen.
