Why would RA care? I was one and I know I for sure wouldn't think twice about it!

At my UG no one was allowed to sleep in the lounge either, including residents. If I didn't say something to my residents if I found them, then the RAs doing rounds that night certainly would, so I would just go ahead and warn them to get up so they didn't get written up for something stupid.

Yeah, I was a desk assistant in the freshman dorm my freshman year. No one was allowed to sleep in the common areas/lounge areas. I would have to tell them to leave or call an RA to do so. Also, I had to watch for anyone bringing in alcohol, if I saw alcohol (it was a dry dorm) then I had to call the RA and report it so that they could deal with it. Let's just say... people left with backpacks that looked alarmingly empty and came back with backpacks that looked quite box-like... (I never SAW any alcohol...😉)

We had a lot of kids doing that at my undergrad too. When you see some guy with a big heavy backpack at midnight on a Saturday, you know it's not filled with homework.

Kind of a stupid idea though, since campus police can and will stop you and ask to search your bag. Especially if they hear the incredibly obvious sound of glass bottles clinking together as you walk . . .

My gene test results came back.

I have am heterozygous for the mthfr mutation.

I also have both copies of the mutated gene for hemochromatosis, which means that iron overload may also be causing the symptoms I have had for a few years.

I made an appointment with my naturopath.

I am quite confused and a little scared right now.

Hemochromatosis does not look like a fun thing to have.

All I want to do is be healthy 🙁

I like to think it's because runners tend to exercise at either dusk or dawn, with limited visibility, so the shoes make them slightly easier to see. It also makes it easier to see the maker. 🙄

Amen. And why are so many of those colours pink? It's bad enough in the women's section, but since I usually end up shopping in the juniours section due to incredibly small feet, it's a veritable cavalcade of shades of pink.

Life lesson learned today: always pee before you leave home. You never know when you'll break down on the side of the road. Here's to hoping that the old faithful Camry isn't dead forever. ETA: I'm about to make the classy decision to pee in the bushes rather than my pants. Great.

I wear minimalist shoes and currently run in vibrams, but want a pair of merrell vapor gloves. I just would really like to not have people look at my feet when I walk/run by, and swapping to a shoe without toes would do that... but the options are either pink and black combos (I don't do pink), or obnoxious and bright. And people looking at my feet because they're swathed in lime green is not any better!

All the power to people who wear the bright colours, I just don't really like the toe attention haha. I know I should just get over it and it's silly, but whatever, it bothers me. I'll probably end up getting the pink/black ones...

Well, my dad's a mechanic, and he came to rescue me. But things don't look good for the Cam-Tron. He already replaced the timing belt and the water pump that shredded it in this parking lot and it still won't run. 🙁

Mine put me on antidepressants and ignored the fact I was B-12 deficient. Actually, I had multiple doctors ignore the fact I was B-12 deficient and just wanted me on meds. Screw 'em. End rant.

I had a bought of this sometimes the pain was so bad I couldn't breathe and my chest got tight. Some times it felt like I has having a heart attack. Had several blights of it during grad school over the year. I had doctors tell me that I was constipated, despite the fact that the pain gave me the opposit. Called bull**** on that diagnosis. Then I got diagnosed with ulcers, multiple X-rays showed an excessive amount of gas. Each time the pain came I wanted to vomit but couldn't. I also had horrible acid reflux, so then they start treating that plus the ulcer theory.

Then I had an endoscopy and no ulcers, no sphincter problems nothing abnormal. No one has any idea what is going on. =( one theory is that it's stress induced and I swallow air causing excessive gas. Regardless as I've reduced my stress and they've become less frequent my last was about a mo th ago at work. I was doubled over in pain retching and crying. =\

It sucks go to the doctor and figure it out. You could have gall stone which is serious.

Did that last week under the exact same circumstances (well, not exact, it was a Rio instead of a Camry). Car broke down, pee in the bushes before the tow truck came. It happens.

Another tip: Keep sunscreen in the car. I blew a tire on the highway a few summers back and spent 3 hours waiting for roadside assistance in 110 degree weather and my car wasn't doing well with the heat so I had to keep turning the engine off.... I was the prettiest shade of red you have ever seen.

chewed part way through the strap, before I caught her. It was the end piece that is sewn onto the plastic snap. Notice I said part way through. It is still intact, yet somehow is now detached from the plastic snap that has no opening. 😕

Not really a rant... just sad 🙁 A cat that we had for adoption at my clinic is super sick and we can't figure out what the heck is wrong with him. Tetanus? Tick Paralysis? All of a sudden he can't use his limbs. Doesn't look good. And of course he is the sweetest, loviest kitten in the world. 🙁

I hear you though about the soles. I got a pair of the fivefinger shoes and they are awesome. I definitely love the barefoot shoes. I've tried on minimals, since I like the colors, but the way they form near the arch just hits funny on my feet. Also my toe shoes are starting to get a small hole at the top of the big toe. It makes me sad.

I've tripped up the stairs plenty of times. It's actually easier than falling down the stairs.

Speaking of injuries I just spent the weekend in bed because I possibly messed up a disc (trying to walk a lab dog, but ended up half carrying it instead) in my previously injured back (happened when I slipped on the carpet and almost fell). Didn't go to the doctor, since my dad says they just like to put you on bed rest and it's the worst thing you can do. Well turns out bed rest IS horrible for back problems. All my muscles were so tight and sore the next day. Granted the pain was so bad I took some vicodin, which made me too dizzy to do anything other than lay down. MacKenzie stretching and yoga have done wonders though.

Ugh. It was so frustrating. I had explained to her why the vaccine her dog got at 5 weeks wasn't effective and she thought I was insulting where she got the dog from and her friend who is a vet tech and gave the vaccine (although the puppy was an accident and from a dog that supposedly couldn't go into heat anymore at the age of 4...). She then started just naming immunoglobulins and I was just like "wait...what?" since I don't expect IgM, IgE etc to just be thrown out at me. I then started wondering if she was a human nurse but then later in the room when she was talking to the doctor she seemed really confused by a concept I thought a nurse would understand, so I'm 100% sure.

She also felt the need to name drop vets and people as if it means anything to me (not from the area so it definitely doesn't), call me "the student" in a super condescending tone (which I normally wouldn't have a problem with if such a tone wasn't involved)

And then to end things, we had to tell her her cat might have lymphoma since it had a unilateral mass on it's face that responded to steroids. She just kept assuming it was from a scratch the cat got from his litter mate over a year ago.

not that this is a rant.. but on the side of crazy clients.. we had a lady tell us she doesnt need to give HW pills because there's no mosquitoes in her town.. obviously there's a giant mosquito repelling force field around it 🙂

Weeelll. I'm not saying she's right. She's probably not. But I live in this sweet spot where the mosquito pop is virtually nonexistent. We have maybe 1-2 HW cases per year and almost always they've just moved into the area.

This. I HATE when people treat animals like they're disposable! I was asked a lot what I'm doing with mine when I move. They're coming with me ya dip!

I have gotten asked that too! I just blankly stare at them and go "uh... how do you mean?" And I've gotten that question from close-ish friends too. I just chalked it up to them now knowing what else to say when I tell them I'm moving 5 hours away. 😕
