Fell in love with a black lab mix puppy at work, made plans to adopt, now my dad (who is my landlord) says no dogs even though all last year he said I could get a dog 🙁 His reasoning is the new tenant is adding 2 cats to the mix so that's enough pets. I'm looking for another place. I thought living in a house would give me more freedom and peace of mind but I felt more secure in apartment living.
 
Got an awesome new cast iron walled griddle for camp. Decided to oil and bake it today and within 10 minutes I had to turn the oven off from an intense chemical smell. Now we're all light headed and feel sick. :wtf: 😕
No clue what's going on with it.

Sometimes they come "pre-seasoned" which I assume means some form of gross chemicals they put on it. I would try stripping it first, then attempt to season it again with oil.

They also sometimes come with a waterproof coating that supposedly burns off quickly. I agree with felinelvr, you should strip it and then re-season (Alton Brown recommends a hard scrub with hot soapy water before seasoning new cast iron because of these weird coatings some come with).

I'd do the young adult if you can. I'm getting married next year so I didn't feel like it was worth dealing with all of it just to lose it again next June, but I've had issues with getting stuff done with the military. It took 4 tries and me being tired and pissed off to get my newest ID because I had to show proof of my spring semester (which they forgot to tell my mom SPRING) so I brought them my fall. They then tell me no, it has to be the spring so I print out my spring schedule. They won't accept that either and that it has to come directly from the school. School's computers aren't working that day so we go back later and I'm told that the form thingy can only be collected from online now because of a new policy. I call my mom crying because I'm so frustrated and they finally just accept my printed schedule. Therefore, I didn't want to bother with something I'd have for a year.

Ok, pity party for 1... I just have to vent.

I am so tired of being sick all the damn time. I want to be normal. This past week has been especially bad. I am dizzy, lightheaded, in pain (joints and muscles), lethargic beyond a point of comprehension. The sun makes all of this worse and last week I was out in the sun all day working. I feel like I am in some sort of dense fog a majority of the time. I keep feeling deep pain around the area of my kidneys, not sure what that is. I am just exhausted. I have one more week of EMS to get through. Then I have a dr. appointment the following week, I am just not hopeful that they will have answers, because they never do.... it is always just, "wait and see." Ugh. Ok... /rant. I just really needed to vent about that.

I'm watching my friend's daughter and she is such a good kid. I took her to McDonald's and am letting her play for a while. Well, she met another little girl and they were playing tag. They had decided that "green was safe". Emma got to a green spot and was like "green!" This little girl was like "green isn't safe anymore, tag you're it". Emma looked so frustrated but didn't say anything. But I'm sitting here like "that little bitch is a cheater! Where is her mother?!" I'm indignant for her. (and a little embarrassed that I'm so pissed for her)

Ugh today I felt like I was so tacky because this little kid in the dollar store called me Mrs. Frizzle. x/

It was like this six year old girl and I had a dorky math shirt on and she like pointing me out to her mother.

I'm really heavy. Like it was super awkward but sweet at the same time. It was weird; I couldn't describe the feeling and give it justice.
 
I am desperately in need of a purse. I've been searching for weeks and FINALLY found one that I actually like. It was $43 in the store, but I knew I could get it on Amazon for only $35 so I decided to wait.

Well, turns out two of the colors it comes in are $35. The only color I actually want (dark brown) is $58!! WTF? It's the exact same thing as the other two, why is it so much more expensive?!

And thanks to the fact that we live in the middle of freaking nowhere, driving back to the store to get it is out of the question. I'd spend more money in gas than I would save on the purse. 😡
 
SO had a self esteem hit last night.

Was watching him and friends play a drinking game and, well, he wasn't very good at it and ended up half naked. The other two guys there are into martial arts and their bodies reflect that. One of the other guys gf suggested SO sit out a round because "no one wants to see any more of you except MommaFox"

It was a low blow. I don't think she meant it like it came out. Pissed me off. Poor SO keeps mentioning how he needs to get back in shape.


I love him, and love the way he looks. He is absolutely not fat or out of shape. He just doesnt look like a trained MMA fighter and I like it that way. Have never seen him like that and it broke my heart a bit. Poor babe. 🙁

I spend so much more than that on purses. Just get the $58 one if that's the color you want. It's only $15 - hardly worth the price of driving there again and all that.

I see purses like good sheets - it's a damn investment. Yeah, it's like $200, but that mofo isn't gonna fall apart in a year or anything. And I will still love it in a year.

My price range was $30-40. To me it's not worth it to break the bank on a piece of fabric that costs 50 cents to make and is just going to be used to cart my junk around. I can't really afford to go higher and even if I could, I'm really PO'd that they're charging nearly $60 for an item that is apparently worth only $35. Not worth the extra price, IMO. I'm just going to have to do without.
 
Yesterday, for the first time, I had to go out and buy fat pants. The majority of my pants for work are just too small. Half of them I can't even button, and the ones I can button are horribly uncomfortable because they're soooo tight. Not to mention a single flight of stairs completely winds me.

Ugh. I feel so gross. So today is day one of changing that. Here's to hoping I don't fall off the wagon (I always do...).
 
So flipping tired.. Checked into hotel at 4:30am..slept till 8:45am.. And now there is a young child screaming her head off in the room next to us. 🙁 I just want some sleep before the festivities begin!

Just got an email from my sister in law that they adopted two kittens from the SPCA. Nevermind that she already has an 8-month old cat that has never been to a vet (and is obviously not spayed) and a 100+ lb dog they can't afford to take to the vet either. But yeah, you should totally get two more kittens and expect me to be happy for you. :bang:
 
Getting sick, feeling like crap, didn't sleep at all last night. Tylenol not helping 👎

Last night my grandmother fell and hurt herself so my parents had to take her to the ER. They then bring her back to the house, which is totally understandable, but they put her in the room where my dog sleeps instead of the other bedroom. So I moved my dog downstairs with me so she wouldn't get in the way, where she slept for a bit and then had to go out every hour and then didn't want to get back in bed. So I shut her upstairs in the other half of the house - which is huge, but it isn't Her Room and I could tell she was frustrated this morning that she had to stay out there. Poor old lady.

I also feel super bad for my mom - my grandmother's health has been steadily declining the past few months and I can tell my mom is super stressed. I cleaned the house, took out the trash, etc while they were at the hospital last night but I know it only helps so much.

😡 SDN! I click on a "Go to first new post" thingy on a thread I know I haven't been on in a couple months and it brings me to a post dated two weeks ago. I scroll up and there are pages before that, that I haven't read yet. This has happened multiple times tonight.

Very frustrated with my bank. I was supposed to get my new debit card before I left on my trip (I had to cancel my old one because someone had been using the number to buy things.) The guy told me it should be there before I left. It wasn't and it still isn't here when I got back. This wouldn't be a huge deal since I'm moving on Sunday. I do have a temporary one good for 45 days since the beginning of July but with mail being forwarded who knows how long it might take to get there to my new address. Plus there are NO wells fargo banks in Missouri. I called them last night and the woman I talked to was awful. She basically said there is no way they can expedite a card to me... really? I know there is a way to do that. I'm going down to the bank today... UGH.
 
I hate my job.

Obviously I didn't get the shelter job or vet assistant job because it has been over 2 weeks with no contact.

I am a Chem lab tech.

I took over C's TOC machine because someone quit and he had to take over their position.

1) He left me with 3 cases of vials. When I asked him if we had more, he said no and told me I have to order them when I have 5 cases left. They take "forever" to come in. Now I'm out. He should have ordered them when he got down to 5 cases, not leave me with 3 and not explain when I am supposed to order them.

2) I had some free time last week, so I helped out with microbiology one day. The next day I noticed that nobody was checking them so I just did it. Out of the blue, I had a random employee (not my supervisor) tell me that it's now entirely my responsibility. Gee, thanks. They also threw me in there a little blind.

3) C was in charge of microbiology too. Did he order sterile water before the position was handed off to me? No. I was left with half a bottle. When I went looking for more, there was none. I went to the manger for more and was told that I should have came to her when I had 2 bottles left. I am not psychic.

4) C took over K's position. K was neat and tidy. He did his work in his own little designated areas. C is a slob. He leaves paper and crap everywhere. Even though he is taking over K's job, he still leaves his crap in my new area. Also, instead of using just K's pipettes, he's using all of the ones at my bench... plus K's... and he does not put them back so I am always looking for them.

How do you politely tell a coworker to get the frig out if your clean, organized work space?

Everyone knows he's messy.

Don't give up hope! I have gone way more than two weeks with no contact only to be offered the job a month later. In fact, just in the last couple of weeks I've been offered interviews for two jobs that I applied for in March! It can still happen for you!
 
We had a kitten we sent out to foster last week come back and she tested positive for panleukopenia. I cleaned out the kennel when she went to foster and I put another kitten in there later that day. That kitten tested positive today 🙁 I know I followed the cleaning protocols and couldn't have predicted what would happen but I still feel horribly 🙁 :cry:

obviously they can wait until you're out of school and can treat for free! (or so an acquaintance of mine tells me..) :scared:😕
 
It was starting to get dark when I got out of zumba tonight, which means summer is almost over, which reminds my of how much I miss undergrad and how I'll never have those friends again. 🙁
 
someone sent a really poor and extremely selfish review of MARVET mex to the director and it sickens and disgusts me. the person basically said the course was poorly done, the animal contact time was insufficient, and that they overall felt like it was a waste of money. funny thing though, we just got 2500 pictures of the trip emailed to us, and not a single person is frowning and looking bored. everyone looks elated to be doing what they're doing. i am disgusted to know that one of those people is my future colleague and is so selfish that they think they deserved more time with these wild, endangered animals. we did a TON with animals hands on. someone needs to get their priorities straight about life because we had it made for those 10 days. our hosts were extremely gracious and everything was done for our benefit as people who love marine mammals. 😡

I think my dog has probably gotten into more things off the street in the past week than the past six months. And that includes bones three times or so.
Can't say these are directly related but still,ugghghhh...

Honestly, I think plastic bags on the street is uglier than trashcans plus wildlife gets all up in there and stuff. I'd be really interested to hear what the city's reasoning on this is...

Also, wouldn't two plastic bins that should last a long time be less wasteful than a new plastic bag and a new paperbag for my recycling every week?
Am I supposed to get paper bags from the grocery store every so often or something? What if I want to use my own bag?

But now I'm just being whinny and know already that I don't do well with change.

I'm also super used to a bag fee, so when cashiers try to give me a bag for buying one or two things, it's just weird to me.
 
Oh my goodness. New kitty waking me up at 6AM to eat is going to be fantastic when I actually have classes, but right now when I'm off and could sleep in forever... makes me want to strangle her. :laugh:
 
Saw my mom and step-dad this weekend. Over lunch, Mom said, "Your sister thinks she'll have to rehome the Chihuahua. She's worried about the baby." 😡 No! She's had the Chihuahua for 2 years! I will not let my own sister be one of those people who gets rid of the dog just because a baby was born. Yes, the dog doesn't like small kids but the baby is only 8 weeks old and I'm sure if you take the time to train the dog and the kid, everyone will be fine.

(Though I did say that if she's absolutely set on rehoming him, he's to come live with me. I adore that dog. 😳 I know Chis get a bad rap, but he's a very sweet dog and not yappy or nippy at all, he only really doesn't like small kids because they tend to loom over him and "pet him" meaning they whack him on the head, no matter how much my sister tries to tell them he doesn't like that.)

I totally get your frustration, but if the dog is bad with children, it may be very stressed out with the baby around and a new home might actually be good for it. Also, it could end up badly for the dog and the baby if something were to happen. 🙁
Just another point of view, but I definitely get where you're coming from

The dog is perfectly happy right now. The baby as I said is only 2 months old and isn't even aware of the dog. I'm not saying it's a total non-possibility of having to rehome the dog at some point, I just think she's jumping the gun now. The baby wasn't a surprise and the dog has been there for two years (almost three actually). And I see this way too often on online classifieds. "Had a baby, need to get rid of the dog." It drives me nuts.
 
Sitting in the lobby of my local car mechanic place waiting to get my car inspected (Silly Pennsylvania laws...). I'm the only customer here and the owner is watching porn on the computer with the volume up loud. :wtf: This is awkward and I wish my brother would get here to pick me up PRONTO. 🙁

Ha yeah, I was born in New Jersey which is one of those states. Moved to PA when I was 8. I was so confused when we stopped for gas in PA on our way to our new home and my father pumped the gas! I kept asking where the gas employees were... :laugh:

I remember when I went back to MA for my aunt's baby shower(I turned 15 while we were there) and some bro came up to the car and filled up the gas and I felt so ritzy lol.

Yeah, but that week... It was a terrible week because we were staying in this cabin that might have had 200 square feet and it had a king bed and bunk beds, and there wasn't air conditioning and the net sucked and the lack of air conditioning was apparent because it was at least 90 degrees and humid.

But of course you send the girl who's afraid of heights on the top bunk, that just makes sense. 😕

That was the least of my problems on that trip, though.
 
When I went up north I HATED that someone else had to pump ny gas. That sort of thing is equivalent to an annoying bathroom attendant when I am sober.

Oh, man, I loved it driving home from school in NY. Jersey gas was always the cheapest I would pass and when it was cold in late December, I didn't have to get out of my car. It was nice.
Under different circumstances, it might start to bug me but in that case, it was lovely.

That was the weirdest thing to me when I was abroad in England. No trashcans anywhere. Not even in the train stations. I had to ask the people at the little coffee stands if they'd throw my trash away because I felt uncomfortable just leaving it on a table.
 
Gas stations around me in MA are split 50/50 "full service" (where they pump the gas for you) and "self service" (where you pump your own gas). Usually there are one of each in the same town so you can choose what you prefer. 😛

Never knew it wasn't like that everywhere!
