Parasit practical tomorrow and none of the parasite names are sticking in my brain. And don't event get me started on all the prepatent period numbers I need to know...
 
There was a large fire right across the street from my apartment and it has reeked of smoke in my apartment for the past 5 or so hours. So I sprayed an air freshener and now it smells like burnt peach. 🙄 I have a sore throat now and I have to re-wash all of my fresh, clean laundry because they smell like smoke 🙁 You would think burning sugar cane would smell better...mmmmm nope.

In Walmart/Targe/Etc, in the air freshener aisle is a round container full of beads that absorb pet odors. Works wonders with smoke as well! Buy a bunch and place them around your apartment!

That sounds wonderful except for the fact that I'm on a caribbean island and we don't have those simple conveniences here 🙂 I'll definitely check next time I'm there but they'll probably cost me my left arm and kidney.

i feel your pain!! island living certainly has it's perks sometimes! when they burn weed piles here (thankfully not close to my house yet) i want to vomit the smell is so bad. our next door neighbor's house/business burned down last spring as well - very sad 🙁 good luck getting rid of the scent. patience and airing the place out? :luck:
 
Rant: Professors who go over their time. I don't mean the odd occasion when there's lots of questions, or there's 1 or 2 extra slides or something. But if you get to the end of your time, and you still have 12 slides to go through, STOP TALKING. It's not our fault you didn't time your presentation.

(This is a common occurrence with this guy too. I'm currently losing my lunch hour.)

GAHHH i hate that. i seriously almost started setting an alarm every class the first couple weeks of school our professors were so bad. its infuriating when it's class after class. respect our time and we'll respect yours. grr!

This is what I did too, just with another program. I hated metro. I think eventually it will be awesome, but right now everything is so poorly integrated I just couldn't stand it.
 
New landlord emailed me to inform me that my security deposit check just bounced. I wrote it over a month ago and assumed that it had cleared, but apparently he was unable to deposit it until just a few days ago. And, of course, I have that pesky hold still on my account until October 2nd. Now I have to figure out how I'm going to pull several hundred dollars out of thin air. I hate Canadian banking. 😡
 
Does anyone have any advice for cat chasing? I will not be able to keep fostering if another incident like today happens. I've never had my heart beat so fast.
 
That's a serious bummer Blackdog! Would he accept a post-dated cheque for Oct 2, if you explain your situation?
 
I had a dream last night that my older sister and my dead father were really mad at me for leaving clothes around the house. It was silly, and it shouldn't bother me as much as it does. 🙁 I haven't been able to get it out of my head all day.

Haven't felt well all day today, so the plan was to head to bed early (which for me is midnight and I am going to get to sleep in a little tomorrow)... just as I was about to head to bed... lights flickered twice then power died... now the alarm system is going between blaring and making odd beeping sounds... So much for early sleep... estimated time for it to be fixed: 2:15AM... 🙁

I'm fed up. I'm fed freaking up. My roomie is my best friend, we're fine, but I'm just so done with her boyfriend. When we first moved in 6 months ago he was over 1 or 2 nights a week, which is fine. Seriously fine. Now mind you this guy doesn't have a car, he lives with his baby momma with whom he has 2 kids, and he's been with roomie for a couple years. He knocked up baby mama with round 2 last summer, you do the math. Whatever, all that aside (yes he's a winner) it's been more and more that he's here 3 or 4, or 5 nights a week. Like this past week... She's seen him every day which is normal, because they work together (bartenders) but she's brought him back home Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and tonight. Seriously ... And then tonight after my long day get to work at 730, work til 5, class til 9) I get home and have 20m to shower then start watching my tv show on demand that I missed last night. They initially went into her room, but then came out and started cooking food alternating being slightly inappropriate in the kitchen while I'm trying to watch... Then come sit down, eat food, and keep talking through the second half of my show (season premiere at that). Then as soon as it's over, you know maybe I wanted to watch something else??? But nope, he grabs the remote and turns to Gator Boys. ALSO roomie has tv with netflix, dvd player, and cable in her room with on demand... WHAT THE F**** I AM FED THE FRICK UP I CANNOT HANDLE THIS ANYMORE

omg i'm so enraged.
 
Libby is back in ICU. Potential saddle thrombus 🙁 I feel dead inside, I'm losing my best friend and there is nothing I can do :cry:

Good news: Libby's heart is normal. I think I passed my pharm midterm this morning despite no studying yesterday and little sleep last night.

Bad news: still no idea what caused the lameness. The hospital is divided into 2 camps. Half think it was a thrombus that broke up; she is hypertensive now which they think is due to CRF. The other half think it is neurological. She wasn't being cooperative for the neuro exam plus she's been on heavy duty pain meds since last night so it's hard to say.

She is home for now. I'll be monitoring her bp and lameness. I'm happy she is alive and seems to be ok. So much stress, TGIF tomorrow.

I'd been doing good for so many years and then this week happened and I just watched my sanity crumbling away with no idea what set this off. I hope this new prescription doesn't need to turn into a long term thing. Not again. But without it right now I can't even stay calm enough to focus in class let alone sleep. Oy vey.
 
Guy that I have not talked to since high school (we were fairly good friends then) messaged me today obviously had something on his mind and was fishing for me to ask about it. I'm stubborn, so I didn't - sorry, but if you have something you want to say just spit it out don't try to make me drag it out of you, because I won't. Eventually comes out with something I was definitely not expecting, a piece of incredibly personal information so far out in left field that no one should be discussing it with anyone but CLOSE friends...and made me super uncomfortable. Who does that?!? HOW EXACTLY does one arrive at the conclusion that the best person to discuss your issue with is one that you haven't talked to in years???

Finished off a potato bake in the oven in a stainless steel pan, take it out...

...grab the handle without a towel twenty seconds later. Burnt lower half of every finger but my thumb.

Did I mention I have my first surgery (as a primary surgeon) this afternoon? ****ola. thank goodness it's my left hand at least.

Edit: the potato bake isn't even that good. :c

Just noticed that Lily's 2 and a half week old spay incision is 90 percent healed, but the remaining 10 is slightly swollen, a little open, red, and draining (about the size of my pinky nail). Only the outer layer, no herniation, and it's not sore. She's not messing with it either, except when I took pictures to send to my friend who techs with the vet who did it. I think I'm just gonna keep an eye on it and hope it resolves, I really don't want to take her in for something that's probably going to amount to here's some precautionary abx, keep an eye on it.

Now I'm also worried I let her run too much afterward (impossible to keep a 15 month Weimaraner quiet more than 2 days), but it literally just appeared (I've been checking it daily). So I'm guessing there was a little underlying infection that finally opened up or something. Ugh

Foxy, not giving you advice at all. You would know better than me, anyways. :laugh:

My pup had the exact same thing. It never got worse, so I just watched it. Healed fine after another week. (VERY hard to keep her inactive. She was never lethargic or quiet, even Day1. Always go, go go. And she's a jumper. It was hard to keep her still)

The vet has seen the photos. Says as long as there's no pus it's fine. Bring her in for abx if pus appears.

I haven't been in a GP situation in 5+ years and haven't had a dog spayed in at least 10, so I have no idea what normal healing looks like

I had the same reaction when I adopted my dog in July. I haven't seen someone use a non subdermal simple interrupted suturing pattern for a dog neuter in a while...or ever. So when my dog had one and it looked slightly open and oozy at the one end, I brought him in to where I worked. It was healed except for that spot, so I just had to leave the sutures in for another 5 days or so.

It's just weird to me that it opened over two weeks later.
 
So, my washing machine broke last week... called my letting agency twice last week and had to leave messages both times. Sent them an e-mail as well last week. Called them again on Tuesday of this week, could not get to maintenance without having to leave a message, decided not to leave a message, called back and waited on the line to talk to a letting agent, told them that no one will respond to my voicemails from the maintenance department, get told that they will send an urgent email to maintenance for me. Still don't hear back from them. Power went out in my flat on Tuesday night so I had left a message with my letting agency maintenance that night just in case it was something wrong with my flat (to get the ball rolling); luckily it wasn't and was fixed. Letting agency calls at 10:30AM on Wednesday about my message about the electricity. (So much for 24/7 maintenance staff). I tell him it is fine and has been fixed. Then before he hangs up I ask him how much longer it will be for someone to respond to my voicemails and emails about the washing machine not working since it has already been a week. He sounds very much caught off guard and says, well I will inform them of this and you will receive a call later.... I did actually (shockingly) get a call later, they were supposed to come yesterday or today. I think they may have been here yesterday, not sure, but seemed as if the towels I had placed in front of the machine to catch some water had been moved. They definitely came today...

AND they used my tupperware containers to pull crap out of the drain and to drain off the dirty, soapy water that was stuck in the machine. Seriously! I use those for food, that is disgusting, you knew you were working with a washing machine that was not draining as I told you this on the phone, bring a damn bucket with you or something to catch the water and crap from the drain, don't use someone's kitchen supplies that they put FOOD in for that. 😡😡

Not only that, but I don't even know if the machine is really fixed or not. I have received no phone calls or communication from them as to what was wrong with it or if it is even working now. All I know is there is no longer water in it and they moved the towels from in front of the machine on the floor to in the machine. No phone call, note, letter, text or anything about if the machine is up and working. 😡






ETA: Short version: My washing machine was broken, maintenance used my tupperware containers to drain off dirty, soapy water and debris from the drain and left these sitting around, then never told me if the machine is actually up and working or not.
 
Paypal won't give me my money. I shipped the item, the eBay buyer left positive feedback, I left positive feedback for him, and yet, they're still sitting on my $300. I can see holding it until positive feedback is left, but why after that? 😡
