This isn't a rant, just a sad fact: today is the anniversary of the day that my best friend's mom passed away. She was always the most excited person when I talked about my desire to go to veterinary school, as she was a doctor, herself. She was a wonderful person and I know that this day is always very hard for me, so it must be even worse for her family. I hate that we lost her so young, she is in my heart always.

Actual rant: what I thought were just allergies are apparently not.

It's rooted, so that voids the warranty (and it's the source of the problems, unfortunately.)

I did find the software my brother was trying to use though, and I think it wasn't working because he wasn't actually following the directions properly, so I might be able to fix it myself. Fingers crossed. :xf:
 
SOOOO tired of passive aggressive behavior from roommate! If you post something on facebook to make a point, have the guts to just say it to my face instead of writing it for all of your friends and family to see. Mature, really mature . . . So happy when I don't have to have a roommate ever again! (unless I want one 😉
 
I have had exactly one day off in the last two weeks and now all of my coworkers have some sort of stomach flu and REFUSE to stay home because they need the extra money from New Years holiday pay. If I get sick right before classes start back someones doomed. Doctors won't send them home because we're so short staffed already.
 
I'm extremely frustrated. My doctor will not see me, he is basically taking the longest break from work known to man, and so they keep calling me a day before my appointment and asking me to reschedule. This time I said no, I will be seeing someone else. Honestly, I don't care at all about seeing my doctor regularly, but I made this appointment so that I could be put back on anxiety medications prior to classes starting. Turns out the person who can help me with my anxiety is actually causing me more. I don't know what I'm going to do. No one else is taking new patients. Will urgent care prescribe me something until I can get an appointment with a doctor down at school?
 
Passport office. Generally a PITA but also have lost passport over the weekend since making appointment. And they charge you for not being able to get little holes punched in it. And they don't take cash, only check or credit card. Maybe I'm crazy but I don't have credit cards. And they don't let you eat in here once you are in waiting hell.

If it's the same one that they featured on the news this past week I can tell you from personal experience that it is awful. 🙁 Hits you out of the middle of nowhere and you feel like you're gonna die for the next 2 days. I'm staying with my boyfriend at his parents for the holidays and we all came down with it..seems like it's pretty inescapable.

Visa debit cards work. Buy them at just about any store now. (most are non-reloadable)

I have been hermit-ting at home to try and avoid that thing. So far, so good.
 
I had it,a long with an upper resp thing, and now I have pneumonia. What a great 5 days it has been.
 
Welp. Got my IBR repayment schedule, my first payment is due February 6th. While it's way better than what my payment would've been without IBR (it was more than I make in a month), it's still more than I expected and is going to be a struggle. Yay vet med.

Found out that my uncle most likely has cancer and the prognosis isn't good. So now both my grandma and uncle are both very sick. This really effing sucks. 🙁

Have you tried Family Practice Associates? They are on Newberry road and I love Dr. Lee-Pack I can always get an appointment when I need one, a lot of times the same day or next.
 
Parents changed insurance, said it wouldn't affect any of my stuff. Except that my medication is now $200 for the GENERIC as opposed to $4 before, and my allergist is no longer covered at all. So yeah, doesn't affect anything. So much for saving money this year.
 
A friend's puppy had diarrhea and vomiting all night, and is now very lethargic and not drinking. I told her not to feed and to bring puppy to vet. Her breeder friend told her to give the puppy pumpkin. So what did my friend do? She tried force feeding the puppy pumpkin cause her rent is due next week. WTF?! I could scream! Why do people adopt animals and then cry poverty when they get sick?!
 
Driving back to Missouri. It's been snowing for the last 3 hours of our drive. Booooo.

I hear ya. I makes me super angry too. I have people ALL. THE. TIME. on Facebook saying such and such is wrong with their dog/cat, looking for suggestions because they don't have any money, even for a visit. Or they just message me, because working as a tech and having one semester of vet school under my belt makes me qualified, especially over the internet without having seen the animal. Argh.

This. All the time.
And then they pester the BF when my response of "I am not a vet take him/her in to be seen." Pisses them off.

That or watching people get good advice from the vet and not follow it. Ex: getting w/d for your 20+ pound 17 year old diabetic cat, then free-feeding it to all 3 cats in the house. And giving him 1/4 can friskies with 1/8 can m/d wet in morning and at night so he can have his shot.

Or trying to diet the cats (as other cats are now fat from free feeding plus am/PM wet food) but giving extra food if they meow at you and treats to do tricks.

Would be less actually mad if one of the now fat cats wasn't my baby. (Can't take her to Grenada, can't get them to feed her properly, she is not supposed to get ANY wet.)
 
I am NOT liking the new update for the SDN app on the iPhone. It's a whole new layout and I hate it! If you haven't downloaded the update yet and don't like change, don't do it! :-/

Ugh I agree. I have automatic updates and just opened the app and was highly confused. Still no smilies either.
 
I have automatic updates too. The swipe to the next page feature will take some getting used to. I try to scroll down the posts and end up on the next page instead.

Are you sure that this is not just the first time? most rx plans have a deductible, so the first time you get a drug on the new plan it seems outrageously expensive, then the next time back to the normal copy (although $4 is dirt cheap for a copay in my experience).

I dunno, a lot of the new plans have crappy coverage. I went from $20/month with my dispatch job, to $40/month on the school's old plan to not even covered, pay $110 a month on my schools "new" plan in August.

My insurance lets me pay $3 for a one month supply from a retail pharmacy, or $7.50 for three months from an online pharmacy. No deductible. If I had to pay $200 for my generic medications...well, the migraines might take over my life again! 😱 That sucks, emacc.

That's what I thought but under my plan generics aren't supposed to apply to the deductible. It got sorted out in the long run with them saying they'd reimburse it with approval from my doctor saying i have to have it but I'm still out 200 until whenever that happens.

you're school is being very crummy to my roommate who was very much hoping to do her 4th year at PEI so i'm mad at them currently. they're being really snotty about rotations :-/

It's going to be -30 TEMP(-60-70 windchill!) on Monday in MN. They closed schools statewide already.

My rant(besides THAT ^^^): I haven't been sick since June. I was dumb enough to decide to go out over New Years when so many people are sick and wouldn't you know, BAM I have a cold. Slight fever and sore throat so far. I'm hoping that's all it is...
 
Florida we got down in the 30s for the first time all winter yesterday, It was miserable.
 
We had a teacher Freshman year who gave us notes for that class and for the Junior elective class at the same time. Sounds nice, right, then I don't have to pay for two separate printing and binding fees. The problem is, I got those notes 2 years ago and now have absolutely no idea where they are. I've searched through my bookcase that has every other classes notes in it. Where the hell are these stupid notes?
 
I am so upset. Was flying back to St. Kitts this morning...mechanical issue on the plane so they made us all get off for over an hour. This caused me to miss my connecting flight in Atlanta to St. Kitts. Classes start Monday and when is the soonest they can get me to the freaking island? Thursday. I'm going to miss my white coat ceremony and 4 days of classes. I don't even know what to do. This is a nightmare.

Even though classes aren't back all of a sudden my motivation is. But guaranteed with 3 weeks at the end of the semester it'll be gone. I really gotta get it on the semester schedule.

OK, so here is my solution to the flu. It has not failed me in 8 years, so I am going to share it. When you first feel it coming on, squeeze three oranges and 1 grapefruit preferably with pulp. Note it has to be fresh, not store bought and pasteurized. Drink 3 times a day and by the 3rd or 4th day, its gone. As soon as I get the sniffles, I am hitting those oranges. Knock on wood, haven't had anything in 8 years. I am also an athlete and a picky healthy eater so I think that helps too.
