I'm the same way. Much rather stay home and binge watch Netflix, read, or play a video game than go out partying. For New Years I'm usually home with my family. Though I tend to be a night owl so staying up late isn't anything special haha.

i can count the number of NYEs i've spent not hanging out with my parents being "lame" (we seriously do nothing, its rather boring but quiet and peaceful). one was spent on the beach pining after a guy who was enjoying the company of some other girl on said beach, one was spent with said guy who was being an idiot (thank goodness i came to my senses after being tortured by this guy for SIX years and now no longer speak/see/acknowledge the existence of such an idiot), and one was spent with a small group of friends. MEH - i'd rather be home with my dog and my guinea pig curled up in bed reading or watching movies and getting lots of sleep.

I have what I suspect to be ringworm on my face. We dehorned a bunch of ringworm-covered calves like, six freaking weeks ago and I kept waiting for it to pop up - nothing. I must not have washed my jacket that I wore that day or something because there's a textbook lesion on my jawline. To add insult to injury, I had to buy athlete's foot cream to put on it because that's the only anti-fungal stuff out there (the back says it tx ringworm too, but the package has to say GROSS FOOT CREAM all over it). Not amused

My roommate got it too. We were a pretty pitiful site on Thanksgiving. Though it was a great excuse to watch a Cut-throat kitchen marathon! (And commiserate over all the food we wouldn't be eating for the next two weeks 🙁 )I also got crypto on my first rotation (large animal med)...it's been a wild review of zoonotic diseases

I really hope you're right, otherwise this semester will be miserable for the both of us.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I know too many people who have committed suicide including someone I was briefly involved with (and still considered a friend), my cousin, a very close friend and my current bf's brother. I feel they are typically preventable deaths and it's always hard, especially when kids are involved. my heart goes out to his family and friends, especially his children.
I get that they have to sign up more participants than they can take because some might not pass the physical, but I was NEVER warned to get there early because it was on a first-come first-serve basis. In my multiple conversations with them over the past few months, I was given the impression that assuming I passed the physical, I definitely had a spot on the study. I told some girl in the office how disappointed I was, and I guess they ended up signing up a lot more people at the last minute. Her attitude was kind of like "you should have known this wasn't a guaranteed thing," but this was my first time trying to do something like this, so I didn't know, and I feel very mislead. I asked off of three days of work for this expecting to make $700 from the study, but now that's down the drain. I'll still be fine financially, but it's very disappointing. I guess I should have realized it was too good of a deal to be true. 🙁
