So, last week was mostly other peoples emergencies becoming my problem. Noticed on Tuesday that front bike tire was flat, couldn't fix until Saturday. Fix tire . Today, try to leave for work/class at 6 - back tire is flat and won't hold air. Stupid freaking bolt is rounded off and I can't get the back tire free to change out the tube. Drive home on lunch break finally manage to get bolt off with much angry swearing and over use of force, fix the tire and the new tube won't fracking inflate. Gave up and dropped bike off at repair shop.
It's driving me nuts since I live 10 min drive or bike ride away and parking permits are $9 a day, and parking my truck is a royal PITA.

I had no idea how I would survive it last year and yet we all did. You can do it too!!!! 🙂

Maybe dropping out was the wrong word. I meant having to leave the program for reasons out of my control.

I really don't want to take another year off. I really like my class. I'm now $45k+ in the hole with loans for this semester. I'm trying everything right now and the school is working with me. I had my wheelchair cushion modified but the modification wrecked my body in more places. I literally cannot even sit in my wheelchair because it is injuring me. I'm stuck in bed and it makes me feel so helpless.

On Wednesday I go back to the wheelchair cushion place to get "evaluated" for their really hardcore one but that's just the evaluation. I called them and told them to just do the mold and I'll take out more loans to pay the listing price of $10,000 if I have to. I purchased a blow up mattress and I might just put it in the classroom just so I can go to class.

Trying to watch the lectures from home but it's very hard because I just start nodding out and falling asleep because I'm laying down and it's quiet around me. Not to mention all the dissection and lab I'm missing. It's just the worst timing with all of this, it really is.

I'm passing my classes right now, honesty don't know how I'm doing it with all of this. The next Anatomy exam is Thursday. If I can just pass I'll be happy, I don't care at all if I get a 69.5%. Trying to hold on for dear life here.

Would they be able to refund some of your tuition if you were unable to complete the semester? I know it's not ideal but I know of several people at my school who had to defer partway through a semester. At least it would give you time to not be concerned with school and get your health under control.

Cleaning is only attractive if it is the last method of procrastination available. Thanks to the internet on an always available hand held device, I rarely have that problem anymore. 😀

I'm literally all of those at some point, except list maker and delegator. Internet happens more than anything else, though, obviously.

Cleaning one is funny because I've done that so many times even though it really is a last resort method..."hmm, I have this thing to do, but suddenly I feel like I should reorganize my desk drawers and declutter my room and rearrange my stuff." Kinda relaxing, actually, goes hand-in-hand with sidetracker 😛

procrastination has cost me to go from flights that were previously $200s to $400s and now $500 because i can't make up my damn mind. argh so frustrating.

ETA - i actually found a slightly cheaper flight locally that doesnt require driving a couple hours to the city. the catch is that its not direct, but parking will be free, airport is only 20 minutes away, and the times work out pretty darn well. still mad at myself for procrastinating though

I've had a pretty bad year overall. At times I'm not even sure how I'm still standing here because 2016 keeps kicking me.

This almost seems like a silly thing to be irritated about at this point but I thought I would take a nice week of vacation and do a five day dog show. Turned down a day that I was offered work because I'd be there. 9 hour drive to get out there. Entry fees were on the more expensive end (of course). All five days cancelled.

Apparently I'm not allowed to have any fun. 🙁

On another note, cancer sucks. My dorm neighbor from undergrad just passed Sunday. There is no reason for a 24 year old non-smoker to get tongue cancer and subsequently die from it. And then I have a 27 year old friend fighting stage 3 colon cancer.

Another another note, I also get really frustrated when individuals with medical training regularly poo-poo science and recommend both people and pets not take medications and use nature to get rid of their issues/severe depression (like, in the context of "Have you tried camping? It is better than medication.")

Thank you. I'm at a complete loss of what to do/say/think I guess. She had just been married a year, and she went through so much just to be able to start chemo and radiation. Then she had her post-treatment scan, and it was really bad and had suddenly spread like wildfire.

It's hard for me not to be angry, because she had told me she saw like 5 doctors for her pain/bump and she was told she was probably just biting her tongue in her sleep or just gave her antibiotics. I'm amazed at how she handled every bad card she was dealt in the last several months. Definitely someone to look up to, that's for sure.

Poor kitty 🙁 At least they are able to give him a humane death. After watching my friend, I really can appreciate what veterinarians are able to do for their patients that much more.

Went to the doctor to confirm my suspicion after two days of hobbling around...gout. But seriously? I'm not overweight in the slightest and have no underlying medical conditions. I know it's genetic and family has it, but I didn't expect that before 25

As soon as it started I just had a dread feeling that I knew what it was. I just hope it's not a frequent occurrence. The doc prescribed me colchicine and said since I'm young for it lets wait and see. If it comes back again then it might be time to measure my uric acid and address that if needed.

Still sore but better today. Just one of those things I guess, I'm trying hard to not ask all the what-ifs about impact on the rest of my life, but it's hard.

That's like my client who, being a nurse, insisted her dog HAD to be in renal failure. Dog was having pollakiuria and stranguria. No other symptoms. Told her I think the dog more likely has bladder stones given the history, nope must be renal failure. Somehow I was able to get her to do rads.... bladder stones! And even after I showed her the rads she made it clear she only did them because she felt the dog was constipated (it wasn't), then she asked me if the normal appearing cecum was a rock because she thought the dog ate a rock....

Think my roommate might have tried to subtly that my dog is the source of her dog's new cough. Neither dog has been around other dogs but my guy does come to work with me on overnights but is kept over in the med wards where we mainly keep dr pets and Chem patients...no where near anything remotely looking like a respiratory infection and my dog has never been clinical.

Rdvm told her it was kennel cough based on videos of the cough and her having an episode of a cough in the room. No chest rads. It's a pug so I wonder if she silently aspirated something. And I mean I supposed it in theory is possible i/he brought something home, but I'm skeptical since in all my years I've never had that issue yet.

It's been a hard week for the school, for sure. 🙁 We watched the press conference in class Wednesday. I feel terrible for Dr. Baker and all the caretakers. He's an awesome tiger and will be very missed.

At least she knew what a pyometra is. I'm now at two in two weeks for closed, ruptured on sx pyometras with dogs that had minimal previous vet care and completely oblivious, uneducated owners. I have a pretty solid "infection in the uterus..." *watch for blank look* "...the place where puppies develop." spiel down.

Also I'm pretty sure every damn belly hurty, sick, intact female dog is getting a quick ultrasound from now on because, man, it was a much faster diagnosis this time than rads and letting the radiologist tell me "scant peritoneal fluid," consider u/s, noooo I don't see anything that seems emergently surgical. Hrrmph.
