The one time I was called, I had travel planned. I asked to serve later, and they let me off. Doesn’t hurt to ask!
 
One of the schools I applied to has notified everyone of their status. Except I haven’t been notified at all. Not in spam, junk, etc. They had emailed me prior that they had not received my supplemental app fee but that was cleared up once I showed them the proof that the payment went through and it was disregarded. Now I’m absolutely TERRIFIED that someone somewhere made an oops and withdrew my application or something like that. I have the emails and the bank statements to prove they received my supplemental fee when it was due, so there’s no discrepancies but I am SO afraid that this is going to be what happened. I will contact them Monday morning but this anticipation is absolutely making me feel like I’m going nuts. I’m so annoyed and angry! Somebody slap me so I calm down! 🙁

Something similar happened to me during my application cycle a few years ago. My name has an unusual spelling and I wonder if it got typed in incorrectly in my email address at some point. I contacted their admissions team and they had it resolved within the day
 
Earlier today I emailed a prof to discuss an exam I'd done poorly on. It wasn't until she replied that I realised I emailed the absolutely wrong person! :bang::whoa:Knew who I was emailing - didn't call her by the wrong name or anything, but for ****'s sake! I know I'm not the first person to do this and it won't be the only time I do, but I'll let you guess how big a hole I want to crawl into right now...!!

Apparently I shouldn't try to think during finals! (not sure what that says about how the actual exams are going to go if I shouldn't think, but that's a next week problem....)

Not only are you not the first to do this, but I seriously doubt there is any person alive more than a dozen years who hasn’t done this at least once, That and forget the attachment. At least you didn’t “reply to all” with a snarky comment. This is really not a big deal these days.

There is a fairly well known surgeon at Penn whose name was similar to a recent grad’s name (basically their names were the same but reversed, like Thomas Harvey and Harvey Thomas). The student regularly got emails intended for the surgeon, which was pretty awkward on many occasions.

I was wanting to discuss the grading... not to persuade them to change my grade, but to clarify how I got the grade I did. But by the tone of her reply I think the prof I actually emailed thought I was angling for an increase, which makes it doubly awkward. It's the first time I've done something like this!

On the up side: that was a good test run of the email to see how it might be perceived!

I have the same last name as one of our new ECC residents and have gotten emails for her more than once :dead:
One of my classmates has the same last name as our derm clinician AND the classmates middle name (which shows up as part of your name in our email system) is the same as the derm clinicians first name :laugh:

It's not my first rodeo with getting emails for the wrong person. When I worked in human healthcare I had the same name (first and last) as someone high up in the privacy office. We got to know one another quite well thanks to the mixups, as you can probably imagine, and I was sent all sorts of sensitive stuff. It is however the first time I've done something like this myself. Puts a whole different perspective on it! (and I've been beating myself up over that exam anyways, so that didn't help!)

Hahahahahahahahhahahahaha my dad called the insurance (I’m still on the family plan) to get them to fix it LAST MONDAY. They said it was all good. And guess what. It’s still not fixed. So now 3 PT claims have been denied and will need to be rebilled, my dad has to call AGAIN, AND cvs had to change my birthday in the system to get my inhaler approved on Friday. This is ****ing ridiculous and I absolutely hate my insurance company.
OH. AND THEY SOMEHOW HAVE MY ADDRESS WRONG ON THEIR WEBSITE TOO EVEN THOUGH ALL OF MY EOBs AND THE CARDS ALL GO TO THE CORRECT ADDRESS.

Write them a letter, sent Certified Mail with Return Receipt Requested (CMRRR), with a copy of DL and birth certification both showing your DOB, and basically tell them to get their ****ing **** ****ing together if they want your ****ing business, and tell them to escalate to someone who can competently get **** done.

Edit: Also -- assuming you don't mind the privacy thing -- I'm curious what this company is. They deserve to be named and shamed and ****canned. I have nothing but furious disdain for medical health "insurance" companies and what they've done to our country.

There should be a mechanism for you to defer your jury duty. I have had to defer and it is never a problem.
 
I got my first jury summons last year from my hometown and I just filled the form out honestly and never heard back. Round trip between home and courthouse? I put 1650 miles but it's closer to 1700 with gas and food breaks and maybe a hotel. Lol. And Reason you don't want to show up? "I'm not legally obligated to since I'm not a resident in your jurisdiction" i.e. "bugger off". What's weird is they mailed it to my address in [current state] so they consciously KNEW I was in a different state. It made no logical sense why they still sent it. Incompetence? Or was it some kind of sneaky legal test to get that from me in writing?

Sometimes your mailing address is not the same as your current resident address, otherwise I have no idea!

I tried deferring online this weekend, but the only available date for me to defer is 2 days before another interview of mine in January.

Did you get something physical in the mail? Mine had boxes you could check off and one was something like "I won't be in town." No picking new dates, just sending back the card that said I wouldn't be there. You could also try calling them and giving them dates you would be available - they'd rather have somebody defer than have to excuse you when you show up and say you won't be in town and can't serve due to temporary hardship

(Or go to the one two days before your interview and make yourself completely unlikable when lawyers ask you questions so that no one wants you on their jury...)

Okay, I'm gonna ask. Because I'm too old to be cool (@SARdoghandler and @awesomenessity can confirm). What is the thing with Last Christmas on here? I mean, if it's just a general hate on Christmas music I'm definitely down, but it always seems to be that song that gets brought up....
