Absolute yikes of a reply to that comment.
Yeah this kinda sucks for me to navigate as a mod because that comment was wildly inappropriate, even if in response to a rude commentor.

Edit: I ended up deleting the entire post bc the mod of r/veterinary messaged me they were behaving similarly there and yikes

Edit 2: Oh great now they're modmailing me

People forget when you lash out your movement loses validity. Hopefully it’s nothing too outrageous

Oh just the usual that I'm censoring them and I'm *insert names*

Yeah, sure. I'll totally admit they're being censored. However, it's censorship they agreed to when they agreed to the TOS of Reddit. So it's a them problem, not a you problem. If they don't like it, they shouldn't have agreed to the TOS.

Thinking about it, the TOS probably has something against personal attacks and name calling. So opens the door to the block/ban.

Ooh! I also had a technician telling me there was no way I was in vet school and I was lying because she doesn’t believe in behavioral euthanasia and was harassing some poor soul who was struggling with the idea of putting their cat down.

I had a vegan vet tech harassing me telling me that I’m a hypocrite because I’m Jewish and eat meat and animals are experiencing a holocaust
What the actual f*ck

Ya I had one making burner accounts to harass me after I told them they couldn’t berate people in the sub for not being vegans

animals are experiencing a holocaust

Even if we take them at the bases most biggest stretch of the benefit of the doubt, they're still misusing the word Holocaust from a linguistic perspective.

But they're a ******* that also has no cultural sensitivity or historical knowledge. So what could I expect. 🙄

I was lying because she doesn’t believe in behavioral euthanasia and was harassing some poor soul who was struggling with the idea of putting their cat down.

I've done two behavioral euthanasias in the last 6 months. 3 in the last 3 years. I've declined two in my whole career. And I've met plenty of dogs I didn't euthanize whom I would have no problem doing so if that's why I had been seeing them.

Humans have major brain psych pathology where the individual is truly a danger to themselves and/or those around them. Why wouldn't mammals with true cognitive thinking? The tech needs to read Zoobiquity

I pretty much only use profile pics to ID people. Who has the time to look at usernames? So whenever someone switches pictures, it takes me a hot second to go, "ah yes, this is Katie, not some random Internet stranger whom I've never interacted with."
Ahhh yes, I concur with green Pokémon lounging in a tree, aka CeeGee.

I loved how I’m never getting hired because I have migraines lol

And that cats who lose weight and muscle mass are having calorie issues and couldn’t possibly be related to protein intake for obligate carnivores

Ya know, I have a few connections by a single degree to auburn. With some information, I could easily follow up on this. After all, vet med is a small world 🤔

I love playing six degrees of Kevin Bacon! If it helps, this person claims to be in fourth year and also claims that they’ve had cancer.

Everyone here is actually within 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon through me!

My mom was close friends with a cousin of Kevin Bacon. Her friend took her to a party where Kevin Bacon was there and she briefly met him. So bam. Much better than six degrees of separation from Auburn cvm.

I should use this as an opportunity to tell everyone that my first celebrity crush was Kevin Bacon. Footloose was one of my favorite movies growing up (still is)

I didn't get the specialty VA job, even though I did well on the working interview and connected well with the techs, residents, and specialists. The only thing I can think of is that I told them I applied to vet school when asked, and I had to be honest since someone in that department already knew. The way they talked about the future, like "when you start...," "we're able to accommodate interviews," "you're already on the uni system, so are you working in that lab rn," really got my hopes up. I guess they wanted a career VA 🙁

Redditors are the most aggressively wrong people on the internet. It’s wild. But sometimes there’s entertaining stories and good info.
Honestly my primary reason is that I find the layouts of the threads (idk the proper lingo) really hard to follow. But also the fact that people seem to be really quick to get super insane on Reddit. 0-100. We've had that pretty sparingly over the years here in comparison and people think SDN is toxic, but then still go on Reddit which I don't understand.

There was a post in one of the vet-related subs (again, lingo?) where people were talking about exactly that - SDN is 'hardcore/full of cyberbullying/crazies' and yet imo we pale in comparison to some of the crazy stuff I've seen on Reddit. And that's even acknowledging that we definitely had some previous regular users of SDN that were absolutely bullying people both on SDN and via other social media platforms (because 1-2 people actually took it that far) at one point.

It's the loons who get booted from here that go to reddit to cope and say that SDN is crazy lol

Then you have the crazy that stays on reddit. In the vet world most of it is pre-vets coping by shifting blame to schools/admin.

Despite it all, it's a really good resource for pre-vets and vet students. Vampy and I just started a prevet sub that's doing pretty well. We've had some crazy people but overall mostly good stuff. Same kind of pattern for katie's sub. Otherwise, you find the subs you like and never stray away lol

The biggest difference between reddit and here when it comes to drama is there's an established community on SDN. It really helps to get rid of the misinformation, unwarranted criticism, and straight up wacky/aggressive behavior versus on reddit it's really hard to win an argument or prevent one from even happening in the first place

This is part of what makes them unhappy. They don’t like it when us old farts rain on their parade.

Why do so many hospitals in my area have so many scathing reviews on Indeed?

Staring Episode 2 GIF by The Office
Not sure what the context is for you looking at reviews, but it's because it's medicine. The thing about reviews of clinics/hospitals (both human and veterinary, but I'll refer to veterinary because of personal experience obvi) - probably 90%+ of the bad ones are total BS. Most people only write a review if it's a bad one, and most people understand probably <25% of what is happening to themselves/their pet/their loved one despite every effort to explain things in multiple ways. People will literally nod their heads, say they have no questions, repeat things back to you, etc. and later go home and write a review that said you wouldn't explain anything/spent 30s with them/whatever (one example). Pair all of that with high emotions that often go alongside medical situations and you've got people that want to 'go after' you online.

It's why most ER clinics have **** Google/Yelp ratings and reviews - people want to lash out and place their anger/grieving/whatever on something other than just accept that their pet was too sick/they had no money/they waited too long/they caused the problem/etc.

Honestly if you can find a clinic that has only perfect reviews, you've found a clinic paying one of those 'review auditing' services to get the bad ones taken down.

Anyone have thoughts on this Reddit post?
General gist is a group of vet students are accusing the NAVLE of racially motivated score manipulation and systemic fraud. Plus a class for third party data analysis because Tuskegee is being targeted for termination based on NAVLE scores.

omg this was recommended to me while I was doomscrolling! I think an audit would be great regardless, however I fear for Tuskegee students the reality is that regardless of how well they seem to be doing during exams (as mentioned in the post) their curriculum has severe deficiencies that are simply not setting them up to have the full breadth of knowledge that is the standard at other schools and required to pass that stupid test. There was a post on the veterinary side of the forum from a a Tuskeegee student a while back about issues at the school which was eye opening.

I meant bad reviews from previous employees on Indeed, not owners. It wasn't like this back home
I’d also take this with a grain of salt, but certainly if there’s an insane amount of employees posting diss tracks I’d do a double take.

But generally, you’re still going to see a lot of bias towards negative reviews. Pay attention to if you see trends but otherwise feel it out for yourself.
