The DO who agreed to write my letter has apparently been sucked into the DO void, never again to have contact with the real world.

Looks like I get to do the DO thing all over again. 🙄

I thought you applied a long long time ago.

Anyway, Try writing him/her a letter to see if he/she had sent it. Do the innocent thing of "hey I was just wondering if you had found the time to send that letter to "insert school". It means a lot to me and I hope all is well"

I have had to keep on the ball with all of my LORs when I sent them in. Though I will say that the two Do's that wrote letters for me were quite reliable. Good luck!

I sent one email about a month ago, no reply. It did take him a week to reply to the email I sent including my transcript and stuff. I know he's busy, but it doesn't take a month to reply to an email. I sent another today just in case.

I am guessing one of three things: (1) He's not getting my emails, in which case I need to do some sleuth work to find his phone number again (2) He changed his mind about the letter and is just ignoring me or (3) He forgot about it.

Instead of sending emails you might try a face to face reminder. (it is much harder to ignore someone when they are standing right there in front of you). Oh, and definetly do the innocent thing.

I had a similar situation, where my DO changed offices, and didn't seem to excited to write me a letter. (In fact, when I asked him, he laughed and said "Pre-meds are always trying to get me to write letters for them." Not good.)

So I took 2 boxes of Krispy Kremes to his office. Gave them to the staff, told them that I wanted to say thank you for the DO writing my LOR. I attached a thank you letter, a sheet with all of the addresses of the schools I was applying to, and a bunch of stamped, already-addressed envelopes.

It worked for me! Good luck!

I would, except the guy lives 115 miles away. The funny thing is, I never even mentioned it when I was talking with him at the end of the day. HE brought it up.

Oh, I didn't know that he lived that far away from you. In that case I would try to find his phone number and call him to remind him (Unless you are planning a trip to the area that he lives in anytime soon😀 )

hint for anyone else who has this problem. deal with the secretary. they will make sure it gets taken care of. bribe them, not the doc.
