LOL, sorry you guys picked the wrong profession. 150k in debt + new schools popping up everywhere = disaster. You probably shouldnt worry about salaries, worry about getting a job first! Good luck. LOL.

I'll consult with Cheburashka and the fashion rules for jumping off bridges, but I think nude would be best...

well I'm thinking streamers or something would look really cool during the descent. if we go nude there's really only one place to stick the streamers....

You do realize this whole scenario is an evil plan originating from the elite corporate overlords who control the major pharmacies. Their goal is to up the supply so they dont have to pay you guys so damn much.

Dude, you make me ...😴

Those in it for the money suffer, on the other hand, there are people like me who would do what it takes to get what we want...It is a choice and I've made it.

All choices have consequences bro, sorry about your delusions, I guess you gotta get through the day somehow.

No shame in my game... I'll live off my wife's salary, no problem.

Stay at home Passion, inc!

I'll change my name to Passion4Cooking.

Ah yes, I'm just doing this PharmD thing to keep myself busy while my wife finishes school. After that I'd definitely do the stay at home hubby thing. More time to catch up on the video game backlog I have going.

*shouts* TROLL!!!

*feeds troll*

i don't really understand your logic though. are you saying the value of a pharmacist is dwindling? If so, take a look around you...everything is losing its value. you have to be in it because you like it...

basic economics state they will not fall dramatically. it's really nothing to worry about, but I'm afraid the days of signing bonuses are over.

Ive heard similar things. Also, how does this proposed health care reform play into the salaries of pharmacists? I tried to do some research of my own but fell short on information regarding pharmacists.

Don't worry about healthcare reform. If it does pass, it won't be anywhere near what is on the docket right now.

You'll always have a comfortable wage and that's all that matters.

I will start worrying about looking for a job when there are new Walgreens and other drug stores opening up on every corner. We have a baby boomer generation that is just starting to retire and they will be screaming for prescriptions. Anyone who is worried because of this short term recession we are in has very short vision. Pharmacist job outlook is strong for the next 30 years.

Like I said, that OTR trucker gig is looking better all the time.

Gonna get me an ol' hound dawg and drive all over the country delivering Coors to thirsty rednecks.

heyy con ^ ^ i agree...👍😀👍 and SORRY bout them phillies, by the way...🙁 oh well, just the way the dice rolled i suppose eh?

Honestly, pharmacists don't earn a lot. Besides, the long hours of standing at the retail stores could likely be a torture to those with joint and knee problems.

I guess if you compare it to what an anesthesiologist earns.

I bet if you compare it to how much a 3rd grade teacher makes, it seems like "a lot."

My California teaching credential took a minimum of five years of school (four year degree plus one year for credential). I'm not sure what they pay a beginning teacher but I think it is in the upper 30s or low 40s depending on the district.

You can graduate pharmacy school in the same five years with a bit of luck and a three year school. Starting salary is much, much higher. It seems like a lot to me.

Yeah I know...I figure it was the best salary/working conditions given the # of years required training.

Physicians don't make a lot either. The real money is in I-banking. Ever see an I-banker complain about falling reimbursement rates? Exactly.

Pharmacists have one advantage over just about any other professional I can think of: the number of hours worked per week. My preceptor told me she was salary and I just about fell over dead when she told me that she only worked 38.5 hours per week. I have never heard of salaried professional working less than 40. In most professions, salary means at least fifty and if it is a high paying one, usually a lot more than that.

Was overtime built-in? That would make sense to me... 4 x 9-ish hour days a week would put you a hair under 40hrs and the salary can account for it (up for the OT, or down for the lower # of hours).

You're right though, most salaried positions I see are for 40 or 43+ hours.
