just out of curiousity, have any of you guys used these, and if so, how do you feel about them? i know a lot of the brs and high yield books come highly recommended, but i tried using some of these in conjunction with my 1st year classes and honestly, they just didn't do it for me - the black and white pages with scanty diagrams just make my brain hurt. i used the anatomy and biochem rapid review books, however, and for some reason, my brain just seems to like these better. i was just wondering if they covered about the same material or whether i would be doing myself a huge disservice by studying from them next year when i sit down to study for step 1. any thoughts would be great. thanks!

Quite frankly. I say still go with BRS. That is what I used for Step 1 prep. Plus, many of my friends have said the same thing that you mentioned, however BRS books are very popular in the First Aid book review section. Also BRS is a PROVEN series, and I have not met one person in real life or on SDN that would not endorse BRS Physiology or BRS Pathology.

As for Rapid Review, I wouldn't hold that much value on those until First Aid 2005 rolls around and they can give an assessment on these books. The book reviews in First Aid is based on Students that have taken Step 1.

bump. just in case anyone else has any thoughts. 🙂

(btw congrats to everyone on all the great scores i've been seeing here on sdn!)

Have yet to get my hands on a rapid review book (they don't stock it in our bookstore down here).

I have gotten my hands on the question cds. They're alright. I haven't started qbank yet, so I have nothing to compare it too.

I haven't been a big fan of the BRS series, find the HY better personally. I enjoyed Costanza's STARS physiology book over her BRS (its BRS with words). I did not like the BRS Path too much either. Ive been using the Pathology Secrets book and love it.

All this is just experience for my classes though. Might be different when I start studying for step 1.
