Just wanted to get some opinions on the list I have made. I am taking the DAT in July but will submit my app shortly.

My Cumulative GPA is 3.54 and my sGPA is 3.51 (* HUGE upward trend. Last 2 years GPA is 3.933)

I am hoping to get in the 22 region on the DAT.

I am a KS resident (lived in Utah most my life though)

Here's my list-- any advice would be much appreciated!

-University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)
-UOP
- Louisville
- BU
- Tufts
- Maryland
- Michigan
- UMKC
- NYU
- Columbia
- Oregon Health
- Temple
-Houston
- San Antonio
-Washington

I feel like its a pretty reasonable list, but would like some feedback about OOS friendliness and information like that. Also, assuming I get 20+ on the DAT what are my chances?

It's so tough to provide good advice prior to getting DAT scores. Some of those schools would really require that 22, while others would be fine with a 20 and decent interview. I think you're doing the right thing putting in a lot of apps given you have no DAT to guide you.

Yeah, I was hesitant to ask for that reason alone. I guess I'm mostly wondering if any of these schools are risks in terms of them only taking residents. I don't know too much about the TX schools and Washington's out of state acceptance percentage. Which of these schools require high (22) DAT scores? And 3.5 is still pretty competitive right? Especially with the upward trend?

Texas is Texas. May as well be applying to a Canadian school.

I would avoid Oregon and Washington. Any perceived OOS friendliness is deceiving.

Any that you would recommend in their place?

No to Texas because very low OOS %

UCSF & UOP also have very low OOS%. Oregon strongly prefer west coast applicants.

Other than that, I think you have a great shot at these school is your DAT is 20+. Good luck on the DAT!

He is right, every school in Texas takes about 4 people out of 1000 applicants. That's a very slim chance, and for those whoever gets accepted in Texas schools that are out of states are probably coming from the Ivy universities or what not. I would take Houston out of the list if I were you, and replace it with something else that gives you a better chance with your stats.

I would add Penn as well-- v. OOS friendly and I think they like upward trends a lot.

Im from Washington, in fact I live in Seattle. I know the University of Washington does not like out of state applicants. They fill their out of state seats with students from montana, Idaho, Oregon--the northwest-- and Alaska. There is an special admissions program for students who are residents of those states. Plus they only have 64 seats. The UW beleives that there is no better education that the one you receive in Washington state, so they favor local universities too. I know there are some universities that are OOS friendly, but not UW.

Thanks for all the advice! I am removing Oregon, Houston, and Washington. In their place I am adding Buffalo and Penn--> I want to stay at 15 though. Can anyone else recommend OOS friendly schools?
