I finally feel like I'm starting to make friends!
I've always had a hard time make friends outside of school. I'm great talking to people in class, but I can never seem to make that transfer out to non-school activities. Like, the 4 people in my anatomy group get along perfectly (we're probably the best-matched group in the class) - we laugh the whole time, help each other out, make fun of each other, and still get everything done. BUT I'm so awkward outside of school I didn't know how to make that transfer. But on Halloween I went to my one of my lab member's house (she lives with 2 other girls in our class) to watch movies. There were a bunch of people over and it was only slightly awkward. Then Thursday, our group finally exchanged numbers (don't know why we hadn't earlier) - the first time I've gotten a classmates number! Seem silly but it was a big step for me. Friday, our graduate school organization put on an event at a club/bar and a group of about 10-15 of us went. They had bottomless cups, so I indulged quite a bit and had a grand time. Finally, yesterday, I went in for the first time to study anatomy with people in my class. One of the girls that's in my lab group (and one that took me home on Friday) was there, and she was completely amused by my and one other girl's antics while intoxicated. We all had a good laugh and studied together.
Anyways, long and crazy rant that makes me seem like Captain Depserate, but I needed to write it all down so I could celebrate my little social victory. 😀
